Still want to pull the tiger skinLin Yuan sorted out his thoughts. ”Good Group and I had a good working relationship initially. I wanted to defeat your company to get a large bonus from Good Group. That’s what I was thinking.”

The Lanbiao Factory representatives once again felt Lin Yuan’s directness. ”Then how much reward did Good Group give Mr. Lin?”

”That’s exactly where the problem lies; Good Group didn’t give me any reward.

Good Group wanted to sign a long-term non-compete agreement with me. In short, money was not a problem, but I had to ’sell myself.’

But I didn’t accept, so I broke up with Good Group.

Your company and Good Group are both major players in the internet industry; I’m sure your operating styles aren’t much different.”

Lin Yuan’s meaning was: Lanbiao Factory should easily understand Good Group’s logic, and thus, should not doubt him further.

Mr. Zhang on the other side thought carefully for a while. ”Mr. Lin, what you said is very reasonable. For a talented young man like you, it’s perfectly understandable not to want to be tied to one company, and Good Group’s approach is also logical. Because you made your name at Good Group.

Regardless of how much your personal ability contributed, from Hao Tuan Company’s perspective, they gave you the opportunity.”

Lin Yuan spread his hands. ”So, you believe what I said?”

”Well, if it were about other matters, I’d be willing to believe you. But this matter is too significant, and we have to be cautious. So, how about we talk again properly after the two senior executives from our headquarters arrive?”

However, Lin Yuan could not agree with the other party’s approach. ”Even if your two senior executives from headquarters arrive, then what? What more can we talk about? Objectively, nothing seems to change. The content we can discuss will still not exceed today’s scope.

So, can I understand it this way?

The two senior executives from your headquarters are merely decision-makers with more authority.”

Mr. Zhang smiled, not denying it.

Lin Yuan continued, ”In that case, I think your doubts will still remain. And if we don’t resolve these doubts between us, I think it will be very difficult for us to truly cooperate well.

Even if we take the first step,

it would just be the beginning of a cooperation filled with mutual suspicion.

I want to do things properly, so we first need to find a way to resolve the trust issue.”

Lin Yuan’s words made everyone present secretly admire him. They admired his boldness and, even more, his ability to hit the nail on the head.

”Mr. Lin is very right, but how can we resolve the trust issue between us? I assume money is no longer a constraint for you.”

Lin Yuan wanted to say, ’Who the hell would think they have too much money?’

”Hmm, I wonder if you’ve considered one point. It’s about macroeconomic policy.”

”Please enlighten us, Mr. Lin.”

”We all know that the nature of our country dictates that all enterprises must serve a common goal: the rejuvenation of the Dragon Kingdom. But rejuvenation is not an empty promise; it requires solving individual small problems.

So, what problem does the food delivery industry solve? It’s nothing more than providing employment for the vast majority of ordinary people. And the food delivery industry can indeed absorb a large amount of employment.

Therefore, both the state and the public hope that the food delivery industry can develop stably.

That’s why when Good Group’s first attempted improvement caused instability for delivery riderss in Zijin City, it triggered public opinion control. I wonder if you are aware of this.”

”At that time, the relevant department in charge of online public opinion did indeed talk to us, asking us to maintain stability and not follow in Good Group’s footsteps.”

”Exactly. If Good Group becomes dominant and crushes you with its low-cost advantage in the delivery end, then based on your understanding of Good Group, what do you think Good Group will do next?”

Mr. Zhang didn’t think much. ”Defeat us, then acquire us. Or indirectly control us.” He then gave a self-deprecating smile. ”If it were us, we wouldn’t miss such an opportunity either.”

Mr. Zhang was also speaking quickly and candidly, influenced by Lin Yuan’s straightforwardness.

”Any one of you, once you become dominant, will definitely ’harvest leeks,’ right?”

No one present denied it; they all lowered their heads, trying to suppress their smiles.

”But the official level certainly doesn’t want to see this happen. Whether we can prevent this from happening is another matter. But from a policy perspective, a certain level of competition is necessary. What the state worries about most is the livelihood of ordinary people being disrupted.

So, I think I should be a smart person and won’t do such foolish things that go against the social trend and situation.”

Mr. Zhang nodded repeatedly. ”I understand Mr. Lin’s meaning. Mr. Lin will not sacrifice his personal future for Good Group’s benefit. This is indeed a very convincing reason. Let’s discuss it internally.

It would naturally be best if Mr. Lin could join us. But what if we can’t reach an agreement, has Mr. Lin considered another form of cooperation?”

”Please tell me.”

”You sign a contract with another company, and then you provide the technology to that company. We will handle the rest.”

Lin Yuan wasn’t quite clear. ”You mean, a pass-through?”

”Yes. Through that intermediary company, we can effectively reduce risk.”

Lin Yuan’s worldview was once again refreshed; so many shell companies were actually used for this purpose.

But after his dispute with Good Group, Lin Yuan had also learned his lesson. He was also afraid of being tricked by Lanbiao Factory.

For example, if he were to be affiliated with a small company, and that small company eventually went bankrupt, who would he turn to?

”Mr. Zhang, you have always been trying to avoid your own risks. But I also have risks. Risks are inherently mutual.”

”Haha. I understand what you mean, so what I just said was just a suggestion. How about we discuss it internally? We will contact you again as soon as possible to talk in detail.”

”Alright. Then let’s talk after your two colleagues from headquarters arrive.”

Lin Yuan immediately pulled out his phone, wanting to ask if Zhang Yan was still there.

’Oh right, Zhang Yan was in charge of network security before, wasn’t she?’

”May I ask, who was the main contact person from the network security department that you dealt with previously?”

Mr. Zhang was a bit puzzled. ”You’re asking this because...”

”I’m just asking casually. I remember Director Wang of QinHuai District oversees the Zijin City network security brigade.”

As soon as Lin Yuan said this, Mr. Zhang felt something was off. He felt that Lin Yuan wasn’t mentioning Director Wang for no reason.

”Several comrades have been in contact, but they were indeed all under Director Wang. Director Wang also visited our company to provide guidance not long ago. You and Director Wang...”

Lin Yuan didn’t answer the other party’s veiled question, instead saying, ”When Director Wang came to guide your work, did he not specifically tell you that he was very concerned about the balanced stability of the food delivery market?”

Mr. Zhang’s expression suddenly changed upon hearing this, because Director Wang did indeed convey such an intention when he visited.

As for why Lin Yuan knew, it was because Lin Yuan had reminded Director Wang—never let Good Group become dominant, or problems would arise.

Mr. Zhang seemed to understand something. ”Then, another day, would you be able to accompany Director Wang to guide our work here again? It would also help us better understand the guidance from the superior competent authority.”

Lin Yuan understood in his heart; this was an invitation for him to show his true colors.

”Okay, I’ll arrange it and let you know the time later.”

”Oh, any time is fine. Just let me know before you come, so I can prepare.”
