Algorithm system

Just to save face, you don’t want any money anymore? How could Lin Yuan’s path of begging and pleading be complete without his mentor?

His mentor was as usual, not cowering like Dean Li did right away.

But this time, his mentor also didn’t go all out immediately.

The reason, of course, was, ”Lin Yuan, this time there’s truly nothing I can do.”

”The conditions Good Group offered you this time are too harsh. Offending one company is fine, but other students at the school still need jobs.

So I can’t openly support you. After all, my identity is a professor at Zijin Aviation School, and I represent the school’s stance…”

”Teacher, I understand.” Lin Yuan was quite understanding of this. ”The school indeed has no excuse to interfere in this matter. I’m just trying everything I can, hoping to ask if there’s any other way out besides being conquered by Good Group.”

”I’ve thought about it for you. The school isn’t convenient to step forward, but you can leverage others.”

Lin Yuan immediately perked up, ”Whose strength should I borrow?” Based on his understanding of his mentor, the latter wouldn’t encourage him to cling to Zhang Yan like Old Li did.

”Leverage the open-source community. If you open-source your previous AI Feng Shui model parameters, wouldn’t that solve it?”

Lin Yuan instantly understood, ”I’ll directly open-source the food delivery algorithm implementation process that Good Group asked me for. This way, Good Group won’t be able to use this to attack me, because behind it is the vast open-source community supported by the entire open-source spirit.”

”Exactly, you are teachable. Good Group is making a big splash this time, aren’t they? Their stock price is soaring, and many leaders have come to endorse them. Why don’t you make it even better for them? Isn’t the country constantly emphasizing industrial upgrading now? You might as well help Good Group out.”

Watching the smile on his mentor’s face, Lin Yuan thought to himself, ’As expected, the older ginger is spicier.’

This way, if Good Group were to sue him again, they would first lose the moral high ground.

First, the implementation process of this algorithm itself falls within the scope of work experience. Although there can be different legal interpretations, as long as the legal department has enough lawyers, they can always dig up a few clauses to make Lin Yuan’s life difficult.

However, if Lin Yuan goes all out and directly open-sources it.

Then go ahead and sue, if you’re not afraid of being drowned in public criticism.

Since Good Group’s momentum is huge this time, once Lin Yuan open-sources it, it will be an overt scheme. It just depends on whether Good Group is willing to tear off the facade they painstakingly created.

The algorithm is a small matter; the stock price is a big one.

Furthermore, the public sector would never want capital to monopolize technology or suppress young people.

Monopolizing technology goes against the current national policy. As for suppressing young people, young people are already very distressed now, and the public sector dares not stand against them.

So, this is a naked overt scheme.

”Teacher, you truly are my esteemed mentor. I’ll organize the documents immediately and open-source it right away.”

”Alas,” Professor Zhang sighed, ”You could have gotten rich with this algorithm. I wouldn’t say you’d be worth hundreds of millions, but selling it for tens of millions would be no problem. Once you open-source it, it really becomes charity work.

Although I am indifferent to fame and fortune, you are still young, so you must decide for yourself.

Whether to work well for Good Group and be their white-collar worker, or to fight to the death, not even caring about money, just to win this argument.”

Professor Zhang was right. If Lin Yuan really open-sourced it, it would be a self-destructive confrontation with Good Group. All he would gain is ”an argument,” while losing tens of millions in benefits, as Good Group was indeed willing to pay.

”No need to think about it further!” Lin Yuan shouted.

Professor Zhang stared at him excitedly, anticipating that this student, whom he highly valued, would utter the answer he desired.

”Money is valuable,” Lin Yuan paced and said word by word, with an air of tragic heroism, ”but freedom is more precious...”

Lin Yuan originally wanted to continue showing off, to embellish his aspirations with a five-character quatrain.

However, the computing power system was clearly a STEM-oriented system and hadn’t really honed his literary talents. He... he couldn’t pull off the act.

”Good!” Professor Zhang burst into loud applause, ”What a noble ambition. I truly did not misjudge you.”

Facts proved that poetry was not important; the sentiment carried by the poetry was more important.

”How can a man be bound by money? Go ahead and do it, I’ll find someone to promote you. I guarantee you’ll make a name for yourself in the domestic open-source community.”

Lin Yuan looked at his mentor’s excited expression, as if he regarded him as his own son.

But actually, for a cheater, money really doesn’t count for much.

Before, Lin Yuan racked his brains to make money, mainly because he genuinely had no money, and even his basic needs were a struggle. But now he already has several million in hand, and he has always had low material demands.

So why endure? Let’s do it. Lin Yuan was going to give Good Group a good slap.

As for money, Lin Yuan had already thought of another way to get it.

As soon as the food delivery algorithm implementation process is open-sourced (of course, this implementation process was actually fabricated by Lin Yuan), he would switch to Good Group’s competitor—the Blue Mark food delivery platform.

At that time, helping Good Group’s competitor fight Good Group would still earn him a lot of money.

This way, he would have both money and fame.

Just looking at the present, if his mentor had a daughter, he would have wanted to marry her to Lin Yuan on the spot.

For scholars, the appeal of moral righteousness is immense.

”When you open-source it, should you mention the process by which the algorithm was inspired?” Professor Zhang was already discussing the details of the open-sourcing with Lin Yuan. ”I’ve decided, you don’t have to mention it. The main thing is that at this juncture, you’re confronting Good Group with such a scorched-earth approach. Once you yourself mention that you got the algorithm inspiration from that... what was his name again, from him.

Then Good Group will definitely use that to make you feel bad.

Even if it’s just to diminish your reputation, they will definitely do it, because this time you’ve completely torn ties with Good Group.

Since you don’t care about money, the reputation that should be yours should still be held firmly in your hands.”

Professor Zhang did not mean for Lin Yuan to give up both fame and fortune.

Lin Yuan had openly told his mentor that his food delivery algorithm was inspired by that charlatan professor named Professor Zhou Shuiyi.

”Teacher, I think we should still be factual. Inspiration itself is also very important, and I still want to show the implementation process of the algorithm in detail.”

Lin Yuan appeared righteous at this moment.

In Professor Zhang’s eyes, his disciple at this moment seemed like a saint incarnate in the world.

”You don’t want money, and you can even yield on fame... It’s rare. Our country should vigorously cultivate young people like you. The country should be handed over to people like you.”

Lin Yuan himself was embarrassed by these words.

Actually, it wasn’t that Lin Yuan was so noble.

For a cheater, stealth is paramount. If Good Group were to spend money on publicity to make things difficult for him, forcefully attributing the algorithm’s credit to Professor Zhou Shuiyi, it wouldn’t be entirely a bad thing.

Anyway, Lin Yuan never intended to become famous worldwide. What does a cheater need fame for? Isn’t it better to make a fortune quietly?

Lin Yuan this time was purely fed up with Good Group’s behavior; he just couldn’t swallow that insult and had to confront Good Group.

Because Good Group was simply too bullying.

Lin Yuan’s algorithm upgrade for Good Group allowed the capital behind Good Group to gorge themselves through the stock market.

The result, damn it. After they had eaten their fill, they immediately turned around and wanted to take him in as a dog. Even if he was willing to hand over the algorithm, it wasn’t enough. They came right out with: either be a dog or don’t even think about making it in the IT industry.

Who’s afraid of whom?

Damn it, I coaxed the system and only got a few million myself, and you guys are raking in tens of billions, and in the end, not only do you not share with me, but you want to put a muzzle on me and tie me with a leash?

Then I’ll overturn the table.

Afterward, I’ll go to your competitor’s house, and no one will get to eat.

Got a cold, single update.
