Algorithm system

CluesAfter dinner, Lin Yuan helped clean up.

The small kitchen felt crowded with three people.

”Once this wave is over, I’m going to change to a bigger house.”

”Young Master Lin is generous.” Song Xiaoxiao knew what Lin Yuan was referring to because he had used her identity information to open an account.

”Oh, I remember now. Your matter will be settled after this time.”

Song Xiaoxiao froze upon hearing this. Xia Ye, on the other hand, was very excited, ”Really? Xiao Xiao’s one million is almost gathered?”

”Actually, it’s already been gathered, but there’s one last wave, and it’s not suitable to take it out in a hurry. Just bear with it a little longer.”

Song Xiaoxiao smiled brightly, ”I’m not taking a plane or high-speed rail, so what’s there to bear? But, I don’t know when I’ll be able to repay you this one million.”

”You don’t need to repay me.” Lin Yuan’s tone was relaxed, ”Remember my words, you don’t owe me anything.”

After hearing him, Song Xiaoxiao’s eyes immediately welled up with tears, and she couldn’t help but turn and run out of the kitchen back to her room. Lin Yuan and Xia Ye could hear her soft sobs from the kitchen.

Because if such a thing happened to an ordinary person, it would practically ruin half their life.

Someone with no skills and a criminal record, if they went the legitimate route, it would take an eternity to save up one million.

But Lin Yuan was a bit helpless; he wasn’t trying to be sentimental. He was speaking plainly. Song Xiaoxiao really didn’t owe him anything, because she was put in that situation because of him.

He also wondered if Song Xiaoxiao would want to strangle him when the truth finally came out one day.

The dishes were washed, and the table was wiped clean.

Song Xiaoxiao finally came out; she had regained her composure. ”I’m staying at a hotel tonight, you guys... haha.”

”Haha, my foot, I’m leaving. I still have to rush back for evening self-study.”

”You’re still going back for evening self-study now? It’s already half past seven.”

”The final exams are coming up. No matter what, I can’t fail, right?” A more important reason was that Dean Li had subtly hinted to him: try not to fail, otherwise, the matter of that quota would be very difficult to arrange.

After all, if someone who failed got in, what would others think? Oh, only you have a perfect score in moral character?

”Then you’ll be gone for several days again, just stay a bit longer.” Xia Ye tugged at Lin Yuan’s arm, looking reluctant to let him go.

So, the three of them started playing Landlord.

Double-sided tape was torn off and used as stakes.

Before Lin Yuan could stick a few strips on the two girls’ faces, his phone rang.

It was Zhang Yan.

”I’ll take this call.”

Lin Yuan pulled out a Bluetooth earpiece and put it on, because that way no sound would leak out, and this action could be cleverly covered by the card game.

He didn’t want to expose his dealings with Zhang Yan, otherwise, it would be difficult to explain to Xia Ye.

”What do you want?” Lin Yuan’s tone was as usual.

”Senior brother, I need you to save me again.”

”Can we talk later? Or send me an email.” Calling him at this time, Lin Yuan was sure Zhang Yan was calling for work reasons. She wasn’t someone who acted thoughtlessly or called him without a good reason.

Xia Ye sensed the coldness in Lin Yuan’s tone, ”Okay, call me back when you’re free.”

After hanging up, Zhang Yan cursed N times at her phone. ”That jerk senior brother, so cold again.” ”I’ll catch you a third time sooner or later.” ”Next time I won’t give you an eye mask, so you can’t sleep...”

”If you have something to do, go ahead and be busy.” Xia Ye was often understanding.

”It’s nothing. Let’s play a few more rounds.”

Not long after, Lin Yuan’s phone rang again.

He picked it up and saw that it wasn’t Zhang Yan, as she wasn’t the type to stick to him like glue.

The call was from Gu Xuan.

”Hello, what’s wrong?”

”Lin Yuan, didn’t we agree to come for evening self-study?”

”Uh, I’ll be there in a bit.”

”I specifically made time to help you review; do you still want to pass your final exams?”

”Of course, I want to pass.”

”Then why aren’t you here yet? Given your current situation, you might fail. My mentor wants me to help you with your studies. You’re usually not serious in class, and you were absent for a week straight before, don’t really fail and embarrass the mentor. It’ll make our whole group look bad too.”

Lin Yuan wanted to laugh, but held it back, because it wasn’t worth it with an idiot. The main thing was that this idiot was still useful now.

The private jobs from OCR were all thrown to him through Dean Li.

Therefore, Lin Yuan’s tolerance for him was extremely high now. After all, every line of code he wrote was creating wealth for himself, so what if he said a few words?

”Okay, okay. I’ll be right there.”

”Are you really leaving?” When he was really leaving, Xia Ye became reluctant again.

”Yes, I’m being rushed by an idiot.”

”An idiot? Who?”

”A classmate from my group, the top student in our department, who drives a Benz and acts all high and mighty. He just called me to show off.”

Actually, Gu Xuan wouldn’t specifically help Lin Yuan with his studies, although the mentor had indeed asked him to help Lin Yuan catch up. But Gu Xuan actually followed his own rhythm completely.

Simply put, if he didn’t go to the self-study room today because he had something to do, he wouldn’t think there was a problem, and he wouldn’t even say hello to Lin Yuan. But if he went today and Lin Yuan wasn’t there, he would think there was a problem.

But who told Lin Yuan to have such high tolerance for him?

On his way back, Lin Yuan was still thinking, since Gu Xuan loved to show off so much, when he looked for summer or winter internship, wherever he went for an interview, Lin Yuan would go to that company and volunteer to be their technical interviewer.

Anyway, as long as it was still within Zijin City, after the Good Group’s food delivery algorithm gained widespread recognition, if Lin Yuan proactively offered his services, no IT company should refuse.

He just wondered what kind of complex feelings Gu Xuan would have when he saw Lin Yuan as the main interviewer.

Of course, this was just Lin Yuan’s thought. If Gu Xuan didn’t continue to court disaster, he wouldn’t really bother with such effort just to annoy him once.

He also recalled Zhang Yan’s call during dinner. It was a good time to call her back while he was walking.

”Hello, what do you need?”

”Not pretending anymore?” Lin Yuan’s tone was no longer as stiff as before, and Zhang Yan naturally knew he was free to talk now.

”I had something going on just now.”

”What’s so important late at night?”

”I was just with my wife; if she heard your voice, how would I explain it?”

Zhang Yan felt something was off with Lin Yuan’s words, ”I suddenly realized that we can only interact secretly.”

”Uh, it’s underground work, there’s no other way.”

”Senior brother, I’m thinking. After this mission is completed, will you have other missions? Will we part ways and forget each other in the vast sea of people?”

Lin Yuan heard a hint of melancholy in Zhang Yan’s tone, ”Who knows what will happen in the future? Maybe after this job, I’ll be able to wear a uniform openly too.”

”You mean you’ll return to the team? Oh, how could I forget that? Then I’ll apply for you to come to our side.” Zhang Yan’s tone showed a glimmer of hope.

”To be your chief lackey, Miss Zhang?”

”No way. You’re my senior brother, and Old Mo is getting old. We can partner up in the future.”

”You think... quite far ahead.”

”Of course. Then I can rightfully be your little follower.”

”Senior brother, thank you first. Now, tell me, what do you need?”

”It’s still about your company.”

”Good Group?”

”Yes, your company seems to be making big moves in our Purple Gold City again recently.”

Lin Yuan couldn’t help but stop, ”Who told you that? I haven’t found any clues here.”

In fact, the security work for the food delivery algorithm had already quietly begun, but Lin Yuan hadn’t received any notification about the algorithm’s online operation. If Good Group was really going to make a move, then a large number of programmers would bring their sleeping bags to the company to stay up all night.

The capital behind it, amounting to tens of billions, was waiting for this surge to make a profit; this was no joke.
