Algorithm system

Pigs are afraid of being fatIt was entirely within his expectation that Good Group would approach Lin Yuan for a discussion.

As the food delivery algorithm was about to be rolled out nationwide, Lin Yuan, as the actual controller of the algorithm, would certainly not be allowed by Good Group to remain outside their control.

And the ten-year non-compete agreement that Good Group proposed through Liu Zhang did not surprise Lin Yuan either. The practices of large companies have always been like this. Regardless of whether it was Good Group, which had a poor reputation before, or the few representative Dragon Country enterprises that now have an excellent reputation.

For large companies, facing this situation, it’s always the same logic: take them in as a dog.

According to Lin Yuan’s idea, after the first negotiation failed, Good Group would definitely put pressure on him.

In an ideal scenario, both parties would extend the current non-compete agreement, using the agreement to block Lin Yuan from going to Good Group’s competitors. Then Good Group would give Lin Yuan a large compensation, and the matter would be settled, with Lin Yuan and Good Group parting ways amicably.

In the worst case, Lin Yuan had already prepared to sell the entire food delivery algorithm to Good Group. This meant completely and thoroughly selling the intellectual property of the algorithm, and then he would resign from Good Group. It would be a semi-breakup.

In the absolute worst case, Lin Yuan imagined that, building on the previous outcome, a long-term non-compete agreement prohibiting entry into the food delivery industry would be added. This would put the capitalists completely at ease.

Of course, Lin Yuan was not entirely submissive; while Good Group was putting shackles on him, he would certainly demand benefits from Good Group in return. He had thought about getting a severance package of tens of millions before leaving.

As a result, he didn’t wait for Good Group’s second negotiation. Instead, he received a termination of employment contract notice.

Lin Yuan, given your non-cooperation with assigned work content during your employment with our company, and after full communication with you yielded no results, our company hereby formally issues a termination of labor contract notice in accordance with company regulations. This notice is effective immediately upon your receipt.

The company will compensate you with N+1 months’ salary in accordance with labor law.

The non-compete agreement originally signed with you will also become invalid upon the issuance of this notice, and the company will continue to pay you 6 months of non-compete compensation in accordance with the breach of contract clause stipulated in the non-compete agreement.

Please complete the work handover with the personnel designated by the company immediately upon receipt of this notice.

When Lin Yuan received this notice from HR, he was completely stunned.

He wasn’t stunned because he was fired, but because Good Group was actually willing to fire him. This was like Wang Shirenturned benevolent, sending Xier back home, and even giving her half a bag of grain (and compensation).

Lin Yuan held the notice, forcefully suppressing the urge to smile, and went to find Liu Zhang.

Liu Zhang looked embarrassed when he saw Lin Yuan, ”Xiao Lin, this is not something I can decide. I’m really sorry.”

”General Manager Liu, you don’t need to apologize. This is a great outcome.”

Lin Yuan didn’t care about this job at Good Group. After all, he had already achieved success, and with his achievements at Good Group, he could get a million-dollar annual salary at other companies in a matter of minutes.

”General Manager Liu, can I leave now?” Lin Yuan was even too lazy to ask when the compensation would arrive; he could earn that small amount of money anywhere anyway.

Lin Yuan was grateful that Good Group didn’t make things difficult for him. Because the food delivery algorithm was developed by him during his employment at Good Group, although Good Group only provided some equipment, this was the result of Lin Yuan’s skillful use of the computing power system to cheat.

But under the legal framework of the real world, the intellectual property of the food delivery algorithm belonged to Good Group.

And now, Good Group did not argue with Lin Yuan about the intellectual property of the algorithm. They even terminated the non-compete agreement. If Lin Yuan were a scoundrel, he could walk out and go to the Lanbiao Factory platform and sell the food delivery algorithm immediately.

But Lin Yuan, being a decent person, decided that since Good Group was so reasonable, he couldn’t be unreasonable.

He had already made up his mind that even if he couldn’t ultimately sell the food delivery algorithm to Good Group for a large sum of money, he didn’t intend to use it to threaten Good Group, nor would he sell the algorithm to Lanbiao Factory.

Lin Yuan wanted to part ways amicably with Good Group, hoping for future opportunities to cooperate.

He then proceeded to organize the code according to the items listed in the work handover details, writing down necessary explanations and archiving what needed to be archived.

But when he saw a certain line in the handover details, Lin Yuan’s eyes widened.

Hand over all source code and implementation process of the food delivery algorithm, ensuring that the production process of the food delivery algorithm can be reproduced according to this process. And after resignation, there is still an obligation to assist in completing the relevant patent application work for the food delivery algorithm.

He had already made the source code public to Good Group, but the implementation process, which is the process by which the algorithm in the source code was created, Lin Yuan had always refused to give.

For this, his mentor had even come specifically once.

Lin Yuan thought this matter had already been categorized as ”work experience.”

I’ve done the work for you, and you’re still asking me how I did it. But I’m here to sell work results, not work experience.

I’m getting a salary, not consulting fees.

Lin Yuan finally understood. Good Group was waiting for him here. And they even wanted him to assist in applying for patents. This was essentially trying to take everything related to the food delivery algorithm without intending to pay Lin Yuan any compensation.

The small amount of money Good Group had promised to compensate earlier, compared to the actual value of the food delivery algorithm, was just a pittance to dismiss a beggar.

Presumably, the conditions Liu Zhang offered when he approached him last time were the ”carrot,” and this termination notice and work handover details were the ”stick.”

If he were to cry and run to Liu Zhang now, saying, ”I know I was wrong, quickly bring back that contract from last time, I’ll sign it now,” then Good Group would probably just give him another knock and then let the matter rest.

As long as the person who created the algorithm is still under their control, why bother with the algorithm itself?

Lin Yuan couldn’t help but admire, perhaps this was what they called their ’grand vision’.

After all, strictly speaking, the algorithm’s production process falls under the category of ”work experience.” If Good Group were to fall out with Lin Yuan over this, it would indeed look bad.

However, if Lin Yuan refused to drink the toast and chose to drink the forfeit, then Good Group would have no choice but to use this to beat him.

’Sure enough, there’s rarely any luck in this damn world.’

Lin Yuan learned another lesson.

So, he tore up the notice with the work handover details. He shredded the handover details that were used as a ”stick” into pieces.

Liu Zhang, whether he received notification of Lin Yuan’s action from his informants or not, quickly rushed over.

”Xiao Lin, don’t be impulsive. Do you know what you’re doing?”

”General Manager Liu, I am very clear.”

The two were conversing in the open-plan office, and other colleagues around them subconsciously moved three zhang away, fearing they might hear something they shouldn’t.

”I know you’re in the right, but right and wrong aren’t easily explained in a few words. As long as you can make money, what’s the big deal? You can earn in ten years what an ordinary person can’t earn in several lifetimes, so what if there are some restrictions?

You wouldn’t want to take the company to court, would you?

The people in the company’s legal department aren’t all freeloaders; many are eager to use your blood to dye their red robes.”

How could Lin Yuan not think that if someone from Good Group’s legal department managed to defeat him in court, it would be a great achievement?

”Alas, we are all laborers, why must we fight each other so fiercely? General Manager Liu, I’m not talking about you. Thank you, I’ve thought it through, and I will bear all consequences.”

Lin Yuan said, then picked up his bag and turned to leave.

”Xiao Lin, even if you win in the end, what then? Which company would dare to hire you within two or three years?”

Lin Yuan walked away without looking back.

Liu Zhang was right. If he really fell out with Good Group, which company would dare to hire Lin Yuan?

After all, the conditions Good Group offered were already sincere enough on the table. If you, a young man, don’t want such sincere conditions, which company would dare to hire a big Buddha like you?

However, these conditions were actually just a more generous portion of dog food.

What Lin Yuan wanted was to be treated equally by large companies like Good Group.

He wanted freedom. The freedom of ordinary people could be sold, but he didn’t want to sell his own freedom.

Ordinary people yearned to sell themselves to big companies, but Lin Yuan did not.

Therefore, he was ultimately destined to walk an extraordinary path.
