Child of Destiny

Chapter 2193: Start of the Counterattack (Part 3)

...

Zion and Rebecca were Demon Worshippers from the Demonic Church of Envy, who were close to reaching the Demon Bishop Rank.

They were not well-known as top experts in the public eye, but they were quite notorious within the circle of demon players, especially when they were among the most active demonic players within the church.

They did not belong to the Pandemonium Descendants since they liked to maintain their freedom as independent players within the game.

They also did not like the idea of working under someone elseʼs command, especially when they had the skills to back themselves up.

They were only here because of the faction mission that the Demonic Church of Envy had released, which they accepted after seeing the bountiful rewards that they could get once they were successful.

Because of this, they had dropped the original idea of participating in the war at the Dark Cloud Kingdom to far some demon merits.

However, the one that truly tempted them to join this mission was the fact that they could have an opportunity to enter the Bug Realm or even another Hell Realm that was supposed to open a dimension portal once they were successful.

This Hell Realm was suspected to be the Nether Realm, which was featured during the cinematics of the game when the major patch was released.

(Reference Chapter 2012)

They felt quite excited that they might contribute to opening this Hell Realm.

Unfortunately, they realized that they had been assigned to assist the members of the Demonic Church of Terror instead.

They could only curse their luck for being assigned to this place, which kept them stuck here along with the lunatics of the Demonic Church of Terror.

Looking at the direction where the members of the Demonic Church of Terror were gathered, Rebecca could not help but frown deeply. ”Of all people, why are we with these lunatics?”

Zion cast his gaze toward the direction she was looking and saw a pair of demonic players, who were passively emitting a savage and terrifying presence.

”Zeal and Ardent, huh?” he mumbled before clicking his tongue repeatedly. ”Tsk! Tsk! What a notorious pair.”

”Those two are extremely notorious even among the demonic players. Even I will not want to deal with them,” he added after recalling how infamous these two were.

”I heard that they have assassinated quite a lot of god-level experts, which included quite a few bigshots from those stupidly big guilds,” asked Rebecca, along with a deep frown.

”It is true. Quite a lot of videos of them are revealed on different online platforms,” answered Zion. ”Even Zero is almost assassinated by them when he is participating in the war at the borders of Dark Cloud Kingdom, where he is supposed to defend a certain city from the demonic monster horde.”

”I even heard that Ashura also almost got his neck slit by those two as well,” added Rebecca.

”Ah! That one? It should be during their attempt to obstruct the members of Godʼs Paradise from getting their hands on that legendary shield that they have found at the Glacial Mountains of the Frozen Kingdom,” Zion nodded his head before adding. ”But that is a huge operation that involved quite a lot of believers of the Demonic Church of Terror.”

”What about their attempt to take the life of the Mercenary King from the Earners Mercenary Group?” asked Rebecca.

”Ah! That one is quite a disaster,” said Zion while shaking his head. ”They have almost captured for biting more than they can chew.”

”They have fallen into the trap that the Mercenary King has set, which caused them an almost annihilation of their team,” he chuckled. ”The Earners Mercenaries are the number one mercenary group for a reason.”

”That group is filled with Monster Class Players of the past power ranking system,” he added, shivering after recalling the information that they had about the group.

Sensing the gazes coming from the two, Zeal and Ardent turned their heads toward them before giving them a savage and sadistic smile.

These two were battle maniacs who would love the thrill of fighting strong people. If not for them being on an important mission, then they would have most likely tried challenging these two as well.

”Individually, those two are slightly above the average players in terms of skills, but their teamwork is on a whole other level,” commented Zeal while shaking his head. ”However, if they are together, then they can rank even at the highest rank of any Godly Ranking List.”

While they were discussing with one another, Rebeccaʼs expression suddenly hardened, which made Zion raise his brows.

”Is there something wrong?” he asked, sensing that there must be something serious that had happened.

”We have lost contact with more than three teams of our scouts,” she replied before quickly adding. ”None of them have died or gone offline, so they should still be around.”

”However, given the current situation, they are most likely captured by some extremely powerful opponent that can suppress them with ease,” she added while issuing a series of orders through their channels.

She immediately got an ominous feeling about this news.

On the other side, Zeal and Ardent were also issuing a series of commands, which indicated that they had also received similar reports from their people.

On top of the massive altar behind them, Diablo was looking down at everyone while squinting his eyes. ”Zeal and Ardent, huh? This is going to be quite troublesome.”

He then cast his gaze toward another direction before mumbling to himself. ”There are Rebecca and Zion as well. These two are the rising stars of the Demonic Church of Envy. They should be nearing becoming a Demonic Bishop within the church.”

Looking at the digital clock at the corner of his eyes, Diablo pursed his lips before mumbling. ”It should be about time.”

*Ding*

Almost instantly, he received a system notification, which was telling him that he had just received a message.

Glancing at it, he immediately saw Hadesʼ message, telling him that they could finally start.

Diablo then cast his gaze back at everyone roaming around the sacrificial altar while squinting his eyes.

From his perspective, he could see a shadow aura enveloping their bodies, which indicated that they had been affected by the Shadow Mark that he had sneakily placed on their bodies earlier.

He did not know where Loki was at this moment, but he was sure that he was currently among their ranks, which were among the ones that he was unable to mark.

The others were easy to mark since their strength was not that strong, but there were quite a few who were quite sharp and strong in perception, just like the four, who were the strongest among their ranks.

Setting this aside, Diablo made a snap with his fingers, activating the shadow marks that he had left in them.

Snap!

ʼCelestial Shadow Arts: Ultimate Move – Blooming of the Shadow Lotusʼ

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Responding to his actions, the shadow marks that he had placed on them bloomed like lotus flowers while releasing immense amounts of Ancient Shadow Powers.

”Ah! Whatʼs this!?”

”What is happening!?”

”Shadow flowers? Help! Take this away from me!”

A series of creams suddenly filled the entire place as the demonic players marked by Diabloʼs powers were devoured by the shadow marks one after another.

No matter what they did, these shadow marks clung to them, feeding on their corrupted mana and demonic powers to grow.

Not long after, these shadow marks turned into massive man-eating lotuses that swallowed anyone around them, further augmenting their growth.

Their screams also attracted the four leading figures guarding this place, making the expression on their faces extremely solemn, especially after seeing the huge shadow lotuses that grew from the bodies of everyone.

They swiftly made their move while also looking for the traces of the one controlling these shadow lotuses.

”Ah! What are you doing!?”

”Rodric! How dare you betray us?”

”Harvy! What do you think youʼre doing!?”

However, before they could even make their move, another commotion broke out at the other side of the altar, where multiple demonic players started killing their colleagues.

This massacre was completely one-sided, where the ones who died were slaughtered before they could even make their move.

However, there was also something wrong with this situation as well since even the most average and weaker players alongside them exploded with extremely powerful strength, which was something that only the most elite had.

It was as if these people had suddenly become top experts themselves, which was something impossible.

They looked more like a different person than suddenly becoming this strong.

Due to the sudden situation, the four were unable to immediately respond, letting more of their people die in the process.

It was only at this moment that they had spotted Diablo, squatting down and sitting on his feet right at the top of the sacrificial altar.

He was giving off an extremely intimidating aura while watching them, seemingly looking like a haughty monarch looking down at everything.

As members of the Demonic Churches, they naturally knew about him, who was known as the previous Grand Commander of the Sweepers of the biggest playerʼs organization within the Evil Faction.

”Diablo.”
