Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 997: Chapter 361: New Defender of the Five Primordials, Breakthrough and Assembly Date, First Expedition to the Watery Domain (Part 4)

”Even after a breakthrough, the power doesn’t completely double without any error; there is indeed some minor overflow growth. However, it’s rare to overflow by 14,000 pounds like you. You’re impressive!”

Bai Shanqiu, having experienced it himself, praised him after explaining, then thought of something and continued to ask, ”Why are you so eager to break through? We’re fighting for the Dajue Temple but don’t need to exert ourselves, just to investigate mainly.”

Xiang Liang nodded at first, then shook his head and said, ”Old Bai is right, of course, we’re not fighting for the Dajue Temple, mainly to gather information, but the battlefield is ruthless; having weak power isn’t good. If anything happens, it will burden you...”

At this point, Xiang Liang paused, his expression growing solemn, and continued:

”Furthermore, the Qinghe Village fire happened on the 28th, and the Dajue Temple only issued the Buddha’s decree four days later, summoning people from three villages and eighteen families, setting the assembly date to the 15th, which is quite late. Taking so long to prepare, I feel this war isn’t that simple. Having more strength can prevent unforeseen issues.”

Bai Shanqiu’s expression slightly tightened upon hearing this, contemplating briefly before shaking his head, ”I haven’t considered it as thoroughly as you have, even though I’m much older than you...”

”Old Bai, you’ve praised too much. I come from a humble background, so naturally, I think more thoroughly.”

Bai Shanqiu waved his hand, saying, ”We’re all Great Xia people; there’s no need to consider humble or not. You’re right, and I must heed your words. Now thinking carefully, Dajue Temple indeed attaches great importance to this battle. If so, we must report the news back quickly. I also need to go with them on this summon and have Lord Xu redefine the communication method; otherwise, once the battle begins, we’ll both be in the army without the chance to convey messages.”

Xiang Liang nodded, ”Exactly, when the battle starts, many manpower from Lower River Village here will be drawn away, leaving it considerably empty. It’d be best for Xia City to send a few more spies to infiltrate.”

The two continued to discuss for a while and soon prepared a letter to be secretly sent out by Bai Shanqiu when there were few people in the village at dawn.

......

Seventh year of Great Xia, October six

”Dad, keep it up, kill that big red fish.”

”Mom, mom, look quickly, dad is amazing; he knocked down that big fish monster again, so impressive.”

......

North Bank of Xing River, about two kilometers away in the snow forest.

At the top of a big tree, Xia Yuyao and Xia Yusheng were both held by their mother Li Xuanling, one on each side. Both pointed to the southern riverbank, enthusiastically cheering while urging their mother Li Xuanling to look.

Unlike the children’s excitement, Li Xuanling looked toward the southern riverbank with visible worry in her eyes.

Behind the mother and children were six hefty figures, named Meng Ying, Cheng Guang, Jiang Ping, Sun Yan, Yue Qian, and Song Kang. The six were also staring intensely at the southern riverbank sky, faces full of surprise.

”The Red Carp Monster the lord mentioned, its strength is so terrifying?”

”Breath Ice, Twist Body to Create Wind, and can freely manipulate water flow, Flying in the sky. This is not an ordinary Beast King, right?”

”No wonder old people used to say the water domain is the most dangerous place. Just this Red Carp Monster alone, I fear no one in Great Xia besides the lord can defeat it.”

”Absolutely, just look at that Breath Ice skill, the front, one kilometer across the whole bank, is frozen, let alone the normal Cold Resistance Level.”

......

”Chirp chirp......”

On the south riverbank, a giant Red Carp nearly two hundred meters long hovered above the water surface, opening its blood-filled mouth towards a red fireball in front, emitting an ear-piercing cry like a bird’s.

Its body was covered in red scales, each half a meter long, resembling a complete set of red armor, with a mouth full of dense, sinister white fangs, its throat continuously spewing cold air, its two gold tassel-like gills floating alongside the body.

Curiously, its enormous two hundred meters long body was entirely hovering above the water, but upon closer inspection, underneath was a thin layer of mist seemingly lifting it.

Below, the ice surface of the river was completely cracked, with river water slowly flowing east, pitch-black in color, completely obscuring anything below it.

”Chirp chirp......”

The Red Carp Monster emitted sharp cries again, its black-and-white pupils filled with rage, staring fiercely at the red fireball in front.

”Water Cold Beast indeed has higher intelligence than the Land Cold Beast! Still threatening me to retreat under these circumstances, interesting...”

The red fireball, naturally, was Xia Hong in full momentum.

A layer of fierce flames surged around him, his blood-colored saber in his right hand reflecting a vibrant glaze in the flames, dazzling while conveying an extremely bloodthirsty and otherworldly feel.

Detecting the threatening tone from the Red Carp Monster’s cries, Xia Hong showed a thoughtful expression, then subtly tightened his grip on the Cold Blood Blade, staring at the Red Carp Monster, without hiding the killing intent in his eyes.

”Power is roughly above nine clogs, but the cold air from its throat poses some threat to me, moreover, in this water domain battle, it clearly has a home advantage, with agility far surpassing mine...”

Having fought the Red Carp Monster for over ten minutes, Xia Hong had a certain understanding of its strength and abilities.

At this point, he paused slightly, revealing a chill in his eyes:
