Forcing Me to Be a Godly Tycoon, Right?

Zhang Jingdong leaned back in his chair: ”So you have to fully accept our 50 million US dollars.”

As soon as these words were spoken, the room fell silent, and it seemed as if even the sound of a pin dropping could be heard.

This time Ma Yun did not refuse, but he also did not immediately nod.

He knew Zhang Jingdong hadn’t finished speaking.

However, at this moment Ye Jinyan felt a bit of joy in her heart because she knew that the 50 million investment was pretty much a done deal.

And she was also curious about how Zhang Jingdong would discuss the equity issues with them next.

Zhang Jingdong also sensed that Ma Yun had already accepted the 50 million investment. He secretly let out a sigh of relief and then continued: ”Now, let’s talk about the issue of equity.”

”As Mr. Ye previously indicated to you, we want a 20% stake in your company. However, Mr. Ye might not have explained clearly before, so let me now explain the reasoning behind our 20% stake in detail.”

”Firstly, 18% of this is the equity our 50 million investment should account for, and the other 2% is sweat equity for me and Mr. Ye acting as strategic consultants for your company.”

”Of course, we don’t want this sweat equity for free. Mr. Ye will help you solve all future problems that Alipay may encounter during its spin-off.”

”And I will spare no effort, at any cost, to help you resolve eBay within two years.”

”Here’s the deal, if I fulfill my promise before the deadline, then I will hold onto this 1% share forever. But if I can’t achieve it, I’ll return this 1% share to you then. How does that sound?”

Upon hearing this, Ma Yun and the others immediately understood that Zhang Jingdong was very well-prepared before stepping in.

He is very young, but both his tactical skills and depth of understanding exceed that of Ye Jinyan.

Most importantly, the two points he focused on at the end were so precise: one was Alipay, and the other was taking down eBay. These two points are indeed the biggest issues facing their company at the moment.

The former, Alipay, faced various regulatory challenges and significant resistance from certain special departments during its launch and promotion. Ma Yun was even prepared for the possibility of stepping down at any time.

The latter directly relates to the survival of their company.

To put it more bluntly, each of these issues is worth 1% stake in the eyes of Ma Yun and the others.

After all, the current Ali is not the Ali it later becomes, and the current Ma Yun is far from the Ma Yun that people later revered as a deity.

But he couldn’t agree directly.

So he said: ”Mr. Zhang, what you say does make sense, but we still need to discuss it before making a final decision, okay?”

Zhang Jingdong replied directly: ”Have your meeting now, we’ll wait for you in the lounge... I’ll give you 20 minutes, if after 20 minutes you still can’t give me a conclusive answer, then let’s pretend I never came today.”

Having said this, without waiting for Ma Yun to reply, he got up and headed straight for the meeting room door.

Seeing this, Ye Jinyan gave Ma Yun a glance and then followed Zhang Jingdong with Lin Qiuyue and the others.

Ma Yun and the others watched as the four walked away, initially a bit stunned but soon started their discussion.

Meanwhile, in the lounge, Zhang Jingdong continued to leisurely sip tea.

Ye Jinyan couldn’t help but say: ”It seems you are very confident!”

Zhang Jingdong smiled and then said: ”Once we sign the contract, you can change your clothes at Purple Cloud Temple, and then we’ll tour West Lake, how about that?”

Ye Jinyan blushed instantly: ”Sometimes I really don’t know where your confidence comes from. How are you so sure that they will 100% agree to your terms?”

Zhang Jingdong replied meaningfully: ”I actually don’t know for sure if they’ll agree to my terms 100%, but if they dare to refuse, then I can pursue my e-commerce business without any worries at that time.”

”Remember, never place your mood or decisions on others, because everything that happens in this world is beneficial to me.”

Ye Jinyan thought carefully about this, and gradually a look of appreciation appeared in her eyes: ”Are you a Gemini?”

”What do you mean?”

”Sometimes I feel like there are two souls residing in your body, one shameless, one extremely talented; one frivolous and flirtatious, one mature and steady.”

Zhang Jingdong laughed and shook his head: ”I’d say you’re underestimating the complexity of a person; someone can be both a Buddha and a demon, both a hero and a coward.”

”A poet who could write ’The night gave me black eyes, but I use them to seek the light’ would end up committing an axe-murdering his wife, don’t you think that’s bizarre?”

”And Li Huanggua, who has dominated the richest Chinese lists for years, famous and admired by many, who would have thought he was actually a white glove for foreign governments behind the scenes!”

”Compared to them, although I have a bad side, it’s small-time bad, never big evil, otherwise, when I impose punishment on you, I wouldn’t let you dress in your beloved ancient costume but let you wear nothing...”

At this point, seeing the glare in Ye Jinyan’s eyes, Zhang Jingdong quickly added: ”Besides, you also have many sides, don’t you? For instance, outside you are the dominant and aloof female CEO, but deep down you are an aficionado of traditional Huaxia culture, a lover of Cosplay.”

”I wouldn’t even find it strange if one day you portrayed Wu Zetian in a TV drama.”

Ye Jinyan was instantly amused by him: ”What are you talking about? I’d never be that flamboyant!”

Zhang Jingdong laughed and shook his head: ”Who says you can’t be flamboyant? You live but once, so what’s there that you shouldn’t try!”

As they were talking, a female secretary came in and said: ”Mr. Ye, Mr. Zhang, President Ma invites you to the main conference room.”

Zhang Jingdong and Ye Jinyan exchanged a glance, then stood up and left the lounge together.

Upon arriving at the main conference room, Ma Yun greeted them proactively.

”Mr. Zhang, Mr. Ye, after discussion, we’ve decided to accept your investment proposal.”

Zhang Jingdong turned to look at Ye Jinyan, then smiled freely: ”President Ma, trust me, this will be one of the wisest decisions your company ever makes.”
