Forcing Me to Be a Godly Tycoon, Right?

Chapter 885: Chapter 363: Ruthlessly Scheming Against Ye Jinyan

Ye Jinyan had never been criticized like this from childhood to adulthood, but she couldn’t talk back this time because Zhang Jingdong made a very valid point.

So, she had to bite her tongue and angrily turned her head away.

Zhang Jingdong was secretly pleased, then he sat down directly next to her.

When Lin Qiuyue got on the bus and saw this scene, she was both surprised and cautious as she took a seat in the second row, leaving a row between herself and Ye Jinyan and Zhang Jingdong.

Long Yue was the last to get on, she merely glanced at Ye Jinyan and Zhang Jingdong, then naturally sat next to Lin Qiuyue.

Soon, the car started moving slowly and quickly disappeared from sight.

Although Zhang Jingdong had mentioned earlier that he had many questions for Ye Jinyan, he deliberately kept silent.

After a good ten minutes or so, Ye Jinyan couldn’t hold back any longer, she turned her head and asked, ”Didn’t you say you had a lot to ask me? Why don’t you start?”

Zhang Jingdong shrugged, ”You were clearly ignoring me, if I had asked you then, your mood would definitely have affected your answers, making them less than fully objective, so it would have been pointless to ask.”

”So I’m going to wait until you’ve calmed down before asking. There’s no hurry.”

Ye Jinyan didn’t expect Zhang Jingdong to turn the tables on her like that, but she still couldn’t refute him, because once again, his reasoning was sound.

And as he mentioned before, time was indeed pressing. For the sake of getting the best result in today’s negotiations, she had to swallow her pride for now and feign calmness: ”I’m not angry, why should I be angry?”

”Go ahead, ask, and I’ll give you the most objective and accurate answers.”

Zhang Jingdong leaned in, scrutinizing her closely.

”You... really aren’t angry anymore?”

Ye Jinyan took a deep breath to steady herself, ”Why would I be angry? I’m really not angry at all.”

”Then give me a smile.”

”You...”

Ye Jinyan was momentarily disarmed; Zhang Jingdong’s cheek was infuriating!

But she still couldn’t get angry.

So, she had to suppress her anger and force out a smile.

Zhang Jingdong knew she was on the verge of an outburst, so he said, ”Alright, even though your smile is a bit forced, I appreciate your effort, so I won’t hold it against you.”

”First question, after this round of negotiations, what do you think is the ideal amount for Ali’s current funding round?”

Hearing this, Ye Jinyan instantly realized that Zhang Jingdong had not been idle these past few days; he must have prepared thoroughly for Ali’s situation.

Hence, her initial anger subsided considerably, and she replied seriously, ”I think at least one hundred million US Dollars.”

”If we don’t intervene, how much could they raise?”

”As far as I know, given the current situation, if we don’t step in, they could raise between 60 to 80 million US Dollars.”

Zhang Jingdong nodded thoughtfully, ”Why do you think Ma Yun is unwilling to give us 20% of the shares?”

Ye Jinyan paused and replied, ”Ma Yun is a very confident person. He believes Ali will certainly become a leading internet company in China, so he understands the importance of his company’s shares.”

”Most importantly, he’s very afraid of losing control of the company.”

”Because if we invest 50 million US Dollars and get 20% of their company’s stock, then he and his team’s shares will drop below 30%, significantly weakening their influence on the board.”

”Although I don’t know Ma Yun deeply yet, from recent interactions, I feel he is someone with a strong desire to maintain control over the company.”

”At the same time, he has very grand visions for Ali’s future. He genuinely wants to build a great company, so he would rather raise less money and ensure absolute control of the company, to realize all his visions.”

Zhang Jingdong nodded thoughtfully, ”You have a profound understanding of him, so what were your focal points in previous negotiations with them?”

Ye Jinyan quickly organized her thoughts before speaking, ”First, for their company to continue growing rapidly in the future, they need to establish connections on many fronts.”

”Although Softbank can provide them with a lot of money, it is, after all, a Japanese company, and its domestic foundations are not deep, particularly in terms of governmental relations.”

”In this regard, we can offer them substantial help.”

”For example, they launched Alipay last year, which although a secondary service on their website, to truly be effective in the future, it will certainly become a bonafide financial product.”

”Moreover, as Ali continues to grow, the funds that this service amasses will become more significant and may even pose a threat to banks, so it will undoubtedly face scrutiny from relevant authorities.”

”Ali’s own resources alone would struggle to handle this, and we could provide them great assistance then.”

”Secondly, there’s our investment scale, I initially discussed investing 20 million US Dollars, and with your fund, it directly became 50 million US Dollars.”

”Although Softbank claims they will invest 60 million US Dollars, their money also includes funds from AM Corp, meaning they themselves are investing less than 40 million, thus, we are essentially the largest single investor.”
