A Foodie Transmigrated into the Palace

Chapter 1579

As Zhao Junyao’s fiancée, the future daughter-in-law of the Zhao Family, her presence here is utterly rightful.

”I was worried about Ah Yao’s health, so I came over to check on him!”

Facing Old Master Zhao, Shih Wanxin replied with a shy smile.

Zhao Zongqing chuckled with satisfaction.

”Good! Good child!”

”Junyao! Wanxin came specifically to see you, so you should take her out for a stroll or a meal. There’s no need for you to linger around an old man like me!”

Zhao Junyao looked a bit troubled.

After all, a beloved concubine is easy to find, but a father emperor is hard to come by!

He had already inquired that his father’s health was also critically ill, probably not able to hold on for much longer, merely keeping death at bay.

He didn’t want to leave even for a moment, but then again, his father...

As he was struggling internally, Shih Wanxin laughed and declined.

”No, no, no! It’s not necessary!”

”I heard Ah Yao was in a car accident; although he’s healed, it’s best to take care!”

”Moreover, Uncle, your health isn’t great! Ah Yao and I will just stay here and chat with you!”

After she finished speaking, she sensibly placed the gifts—flowers and cake—on the glass tea table with a mahogany base, and sat next to Zhao Junyao.

Zhao Junyao was very pleased.

Indeed, Wanxin is the more considerate one!

Although she occasionally has a temper, she never makes mistakes in important matters, which is also why I like her.

Zhao Zongqing couldn’t resist the two young people and could only happily accept their kind gesture.

He instructed the butler to slice some fruit and bring over coffee and other drinks, preparing to chat with the younger generation.

He first asked about the Shih Family’s situation.

”How’s your father’s business lately?”

”Is there anything at home that needs assistance? Our two families are old acquaintances; be sure to let me know if anything comes up!”

”Even though my health isn’t great, I still care about your family!”

Shih Wanxin was excited and quickly responded.

”Thank you for your concern, Uncle. My father is quite well lately, his health is also fine, and there’s nothing at home that needs help!”

”My dad knows Uncle your health isn’t great and wanted to visit but feared disturbing your recovery!”

”He constantly reminds me to see when you’re available so he can come over!”

Zhao Zongqing chuckled warmly.

”Our families are about to become in-laws; there’s no need to be so polite. Please convey my regards to your father!”

”Then I’ll thank Uncle Zhao on behalf of my father!” Shih Wanxin was overjoyed.

Remember, previously, Old Master Zhao didn’t really engage in conversation with her.

Reportedly because of Ah Yao’s stepmother, he wasn’t fond of the Shih Family.

There were also rumors that the Shih Family’s business was too small for the Zhao Family to take notice. If it weren’t for Ah Yao’s affection for her, she wouldn’t have been chosen for the engagement.

However.

No matter the reason, it is all in the past now.

Now, she and Ah Yao are in mutual love and engaged, only one step away from marrying into the Zhao Family.

And the past is ultimately just the past.

...

Perhaps because of the restoration of his son, Zhao Zongqing’s health miraculously improved a lot.

In just half a month.

His complexion became rosy, he could walk around, his appetite improved, he slept soundly, and there was even hope for full recovery.

Zhao Junyao was delighted. If his father could indeed recover, he could relive the father-son bond in Another World, which wouldn’t be bad.

That day, he went to his father’s room as usual, intending to serve him soup and meals.

Unexpectedly, his father had already gotten out of bed, dressed neatly, as if ready to go out.

He was a bit shocked.

”What is this...”

Zhao Zongqing pulled his son over and instructed the butler to bring a set of expensive suits.

”Quickly change and go out with Dad!”

Zhao Junyao: ”???”

Seeing his son’s puzzled look, knowing that he still hadn’t regained his former memories, he felt a bit sad, but pretended to be cheerful.

”Today, the large mall invested by our Zhao Group is having its grand opening ceremony. As the heir of the Zhao Group, you must attend!”

”Even though you’ve forgotten, don’t worry. Uncle Xia will be there to instruct you on the process. Dad is retiring, and the Group will be entrusted to you to handle!”

Although his son had lost his memory, with Old Xia in the group, he was at ease.

Zhao Junyao was completely bewildered, standing there stunned.

Why wasn’t he informed earlier?

What is a mall, and what does the Zhao Group do?

Though they spoke fluently, what are these things exactly!

Seeing his son in a daze, Zhao Zongqing sighed silently in his heart.

’How can he take over the Group in this state? I can only rely on Old Xia to teach him slowly!’

...

Father and son dressed up, took the elevator downstairs, and, accompanied by a driver and bodyguards, left the house.

Along the way, watching from inside the iron box he was riding in, and the bustling traffic on the street, Zhao Junyao marveled once again.

This era truly is better than the Great Chu Dynasty.

People can travel like this; no need for horse carriages or horses, just sitting in a four-wheeled iron box to travel.

The buildings can be so tall, and there’s no need to climb stairs with one’s feet. There’s a small room that can move freely between floors.

Indeed, he only just learned that this instantly moving little room is called an elevator.

This world is too unfamiliar and too amazing to him.

It felt as if he was going out for the first time, curiously looking at each and every corner through the car window.

Meanwhile, Zhao Zongqing’s emotions were complicated.

The more curious his son’s gaze, the more pain he felt!

His son wasn’t always like this; born into privilege, he was smart and studious, showing extraordinary talent at a young age.

He spared no expense to nurture him, and his son never disappointed him.

He was incredibly intelligent and wise from a young age, studying abroad and graduating with excellent grades from an international prestigious university, repeatedly winning awards in various international competitions.

He once thought his son would always excel and, after his retirement, lead the Zhao Group to the next industry glory.

But he never imagined... such a situation would arise.

He suddenly felt a heartache so intense that it was hard to breathe and didn’t dare think further.

To restore his son’s health and help him regain his memory, he used every connection he could, searching far and wide for specialists.

All examinations had been done, showing he was physically recovered, with no issues in the brain.

Yet, his memory simply wouldn’t return.

Someone told him: this situation might have been triggered by some kind of trauma.

No matter how advanced the equipment, mental issues can’t be detected. Perhaps, with time, he would recover.

He could only nod in agreement.

Besides waiting, he truly had no better options.

He glanced at his son.

Seeing him still curiously looking around, Zhao Zongqing helplessly turned his head, saying no more.

...

The mall soon arrived; located in the bustling city center.

The area was already crowded with people and vehicles, and with today being the weekend, the crowds were even more dense, even causing severe road congestion near the mall.
