Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 737: Chapter 735 Arrival [1st Update]

Those not-so-young-anymore believers were raving about Qing Le, extolling him to the heavens, and it seemed that there was no adjective left to describe him except for ’immortal’!

Some newcomers, who were just here for a lark, after hearing this gushed, ”This is really mystical, why don’t you say he can ascend to heaven too?! All those things you’re talking about must be shills!”

”How dare you! This is a huge disrespect! You will be punished for this!” One believer immediately scolded with a stern voice.

”Huge disrespect my ass! Mind your own damn business!” That newcomer was quite a hard nut to crack, directly picking a fight with the believer!

The situation looked like it could escalate to violence at any moment!

Those around were stunned and hastily moved aside!

They definitely didn’t want to get caught in the crossfire!

Especially many newcomers, who were even more keen on watching the commotion unfold — fight on! The more fiercely, the better, and maybe after the fight is over, we can see whether all this is real or not!

And just when the situation was about to explode.

”Amitabha!”

A loud Buddhist chant resonated.

Then, something eerie happened.

That previously full-of-anger newcomer suddenly had his anger wiped clean off his face, replaced now with a look of tranquility.

He tilted his body slightly as if listening to something.

Finally, he nodded: ”Thank you, Master, for your guidance, I was mistaken!”

Those around who witnessed this scene were instantly dumbfounded!

What do you mean you have been enlightened?!

What happened?!

What on earth did they do?!

Someone asked: ”Brother, what exactly happened?”

”What happened? Just now the master was enlightening me! Didn’t you hear it?!” The newcomer seemed just as confused and looked back at the crowd.

”What?! Enlightenment?! When did that happen?! We didn’t hear a single word!” The onlookers were equally baffled!

Eventually, one believer said, ”Stop guessing, this was Qing Le conducting a Secret Transmission! You’ve hit the jackpot! Aren’t you going to thank Qing Le quickly?”

Upon hearing this, the newcomer immediately knelt down: ”Thank you, Qing Le, for your guidance! Thank you! Thank you!”

Seeing this, the rest of the newcomers were dumbstruck.

”What on earth happened? Why can’t I understand a thing?”

”Don’t ask me, I’m just as confused!”

”Is the All-Powerful Buddha for real?”

”It seems so! This is incredible!”

”Could it all be a sham?”

”It can’t be! They were about to fight a minute ago!”

”Don’t get it!”

”...”

Everyone was confused.

A lot of them suspected shills.

But people from the Heavenly Dynasty have two modes of thinking: first, it’s better to believe that something does exist than not, and second, going with the flow means not getting smacked!

These modes of thinking meant that instead of choosing to leave straight away, they stayed with a half-believing, half-doubting attitude!

What does half-believing, half-doubting mean?

It means they could believe it or not!

If someone were to push them a little at this moment, they would gradually lean to one side!

Qing Le looked at the people below and a cold sneer appeared on his lips, disappearing as quickly as it had appeared.

Every time newcomers arrived, it was like this, he was used to it!

Soon, he would be the one pushing these newcomers.

As for that kid who got the ’Secret Transmission’? Of course, he was a shill!

Do you even need to ask?!

Does any such thing as ’Secret Transmission’ skills even exist in this world?!

There’s a saying he’s particularly fond of — A lie told a thousand times becomes the truth!

”Alright, quiet down now! I, the All-Powerful Buddha, do not ferry the predestined few. You, benefactor, may leave!”

Qing Le spoke with his eyes lowered, uttering with a detached air.

These words were quite crafty.

He didn’t specify who he was talking about, nor did he look at anyone!

But the newcomers who heard him felt like he might be referring to someone—could it be me?!

Am I the predestined few?

But, even if they were doubtful, they wouldn’t stand out.

The nail that sticks out gets hammered down!

Even if they were half-believing and half-doubting, they didn’t want to be viewed as the odd one without predestination.

”Unwilling to come forward? Well, let it be then. As the Buddha has boundless compassion, benefactors can stay and listen. Even if I cannot ferry you, you can still obtain some benefits,” Qing Le sighed, his words full of boundless compassion.

Upon hearing Qing Le’s words, the newcomers who thought they were being referred to all heaved a sigh of relief.

Not being isolated was a good thing.

Qing Le’s corners of his mouth once again flashed a hint of derision.

You all have heard of the Emperor’s New Clothes, right?

To avoid being called out on the spot for being unenlightened, although the Emperor wore nothing, everyone still used the most luxurious words to praise the Emperor.

Because, they didn’t want to be singled out as an odd one.

Today’s scene was driven by the same principle!

”The All-Powerful Buddha, all-knowing and all-powerful, those who believe in my All-Powerful Buddha’s teachings, once they achieve Great Perfection, will be protected by the All-Powerful Buddha and thus will be invulnerable to all poisons and free from any sickness!”

Qing Le started his spiel.

Even though he was just a bald monk under the guise of a monk, the fact he got the approval of the old host to become the new one, his professional skills were absolutely top-notch!

So, he kept distorting the teachings of Buddhism, twisting whatever was in the scriptures to promote the All-Powerful Buddha’s teachings.

And you know what? At first listen, you absolutely couldn’t spot any faults, instead, you would be engrossed and couldn’t help but be immersed in it.

Qing Le wasn’t just talking the talk; he was also giving examples.

The biggest example was Lu Xiaobu.

”Some of you may know that the Saint Heir of the All-Powerful Buddha faith is the renowned Lu Xiaobu.”

”You might not know about Lu Xiaobu’s past situation!”

”Let me tell you.”

”Before, Lu Xiaobu’s health was extremely poor, so much so that the hospital had issued him a death notice! His father frequently visited Buddhist temples to pray for his son’s health, to no avail.”

”Later, under my guidance, his father joined the All-Powerful Buddha faith, and I personally blessed Lu Xiaobu, granting him Great Perfection.”

”Since then, what happened? His health gradually began to recover! And he even started a successful career!”

”You all know that Lu Xiaobu is synonymous with miracles. Where do you think his miracles come from? They all come from the guidance of the All-Powerful Buddha!”

”I know you may be skeptical, but think about it, in today’s world, being able to achieve in one area is enough to be called a prodigy. But what about Lu Xiaobu? He has reaped abundant rewards in multiple areas. Can you say that’s solely due to personal ability?”

Qing Le was quite the spin master, cherry-picking his references, mixing nine parts fiction with one part truth from Lu Xiaobu’s own experience, he made it all sound perfectly reasonable.

While he was in the midst of his big spiel, Lu Xiaobu arrived at the entrance of De Yun Temple: ”It seems to be quite a bustling place!”
