Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 733: Chapter 731 Self-Immolation [2nd Update]

When Lu Xiaobu finally had some free time, he realized that he had gained two more Temporary Attributes!

These attributes were a bit strange.

Previously, the attributes were things like Intelligence, Charm, Strength, Agility, and the like.

But this time, out popped Water and Fire, these mystical attributes, which puzzled him.

”System, system.”

Lu Xiaobu called out to the system, but got no response.

He nodded, probably figuring it out: the system must have gone out to gather information.

Since the system was not around, he decided to tinker by himself!

First off, the prices were pretty steep.

Each attribute cost three million a point, totaling three billion for full attributes!

Tsk tsk tsk!

It’s three times more expensive than the finely-tuned intelligence attribute. Are these attributes that explosively awesome?!

If we think about it this way, could it be possible that fully unlocking the Fire Attribute makes you immune to fire damage?!

Thinking of this, Lu Xiaobu raised his eyebrows, figuring there was only one way to find out.

Three billion is nothing, not that much really.

Fire Attribute, max out!

The three billion quickly disappeared.

Lu Xiaobu could clearly feel his body warming up, but it wasn’t the scorching kind of heat, rather a cozy warmth.

”Is this the effect? Doesn’t seem very obvious.”

Lu Xiaobu frowned and pulled out a lighter, flicking it on and then continually moving his finger closer to the flame.

At the distance where a normal person would feel a burning sensation, Lu Xiaobu felt nothing.

Lu Xiaobu nodded, it seemed his guess was right.

So,

He put his hand over the flame!

Then!

”Holy crap, it still burns!”

Lu Xiaobu got burnt and hastily threw the lighter away while shaking his hand and cursing.

Was he cheated by the system?!

Even with Fire Attribute maxed out, he couldn’t stand the flame from a lighter?!

Just then, the system returned, jokingly saying, ”Host, doing experiments, huh.”

”Damn, you’re finally back. Explain this to me, why do I still feel the heat even with Fire Attribute maxed out?!” Lu Xiaobu complained angrily.

”Oh my host! Why don’t you think about it? They are just attributes, how could they possibly change your physical structure? Fire Attribute can enhance your heat resistance, but you are a human, not a Fire Elf, of course you would feel the burn!” the system helplessly said.

”Then what’s the use of Fire Attribute? Just to improve heat resistance by a bit?! A total waste of an attribute? And such an expensive one at that?!” Lu Xiaobu laughed in frustration.

Three million a point, three billion for a hundred points, all for nothing?

”Of course not, actually the most buggy part of Fire Attribute is it enhances your affinity with flames, allowing you to control fire to some extent! That’s where its value lies! Of course, the Water Attribute works the same way!” the system earnestly explained.

”Control fire?” Lu Xiaobu furrowed his brows, picked up the lighter again, and asked, ”How do I control it?!”

”Focus your attention, feel the presence of the flame.” the system coaxed gently.

”I’ll give it a try.”

Lu Xiaobu stared at the flame and gradually began to sense its presence.

Slowly, he truly felt the flame’s presence.

And indeed, the flame responded to him, jumping about, trying to move closer to him!

”Next, try to control it! This control isn’t actual control, but using your affinity to attract or repel it! Thereby achieving the purpose of control!” the system added.

”Okay.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded.

He did as the system instructed.

Soon, he actually started to make the flame move.

How should I put it.

At this moment, the flame seemed like a magnet in his eyes.

He himself, was also a magnet.

So, as long as he understood the principle of like repels like and opposite attracts, he could control the fire to move towards him or in the opposite direction!

And, not to mention, it was quite fun!

Lu Xiaobu got a bit addicted!

He even thought of a legendary knife technique - Flame Saber!

Just need a gas canister, then fire it up, light it, control the fire, and wouldn’t that be a Flame Saber?!

Just rush up with a single slash when the enemies come!

Thinking about that scene was indeed quite thrilling.

But then, a problem arose, he had the gas canister and had it lit, why not just use the mouth of the canister directly against the enemy?!

Why the hell spend three billion, making such a roundabout?!

Uh... never mind, that’s not important! Not important at all!

Right, what’s important now is to go and show off a bit to the little girl!

And at this moment, the little girl was also done playing, bouncing back and continuing to pester Lu Xiaobu.

After a while, she crisply asked, ”Brother, what’s self-immolation?”

”Self-immolation? Who taught you that?”

Lu Xiaobu’s brows immediately furrowed.

The little girl didn’t know many words yet, she learned as people talked.

Until just now when she went out to play, she hadn’t learned this word.

How could she have learned such a word after just one outing?!

”A big brother told me, he said his mom is taking him to find Great Perfection, which means self-immolation!” the little girl explained the situation simply.

”What?!”

Lu Xiaobu’s brows furrowed deeply.

Great Perfection?! Self-immolation?!

These two words instantly made him think of one thing—Cult!!

Everyone knows about pyramid schemes, and cults work similarly!

However, pyramid schemes mostly just hoard money, but for cults, collecting money is just a small part, frequently causing harm to life and disturbing social order!

However, what the little girl said next infuriated Lu Xiaobu even more.

”Also, that big brother mentioned something about Three Manifestations, Three Demons, Bodhi Tree, and so on and so forth.”

The little girl pondered hard and then joyfully said, ”Right, he also mentioned your name, saying you are the person they worship the most!”

The little girl didn’t understand all this, she simply thought it was a good thing that someone liked her brother.

Even now, the little girl was still waiting for Lu Xiaobu to praise her.

”Ridiculous!”

Lu Xiaobu’s face darkened completely!

Three Manifestations, Three Demons?!

That’s exactly what he had said before!

The implication was clear, someone was misinterpreting his words, using them to foster a cult, and might even be using him as a promotional example!

Very well! Truly splendid!

Lu Xiaobu’s anger was beyond words!

Using my name to cause trouble?!

Did you even ask me?!

Today, I’ll teach you what the hell Three Demons really means!
