Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 345: Chapter 344: Barbecue Skewers [First Update]

Wang Lai, after finishing his phone call in the security room, came out and said to the Wen Family Hall, ”Mr. Wen, please come in. Young Master Bu is on his way out.”

While saying this, Wang Lai opened the door and stood beside the door frame gesturing for the Wen Family Hall to enter.

”Okay.”

The Wen Family Hall nodded and walked in.

The journalists also followed inside.

As they walked in, they held their heads high and cast a disdainful look at security guard Wang Lai.

See that? The Watchdog still has to let us in, right?

A cold smirk appeared on Wang Lai’s lips by the door frame.

After the Wen Family Hall entered, Wang Lai leaned back and stretched his foot to rest against the opposite door frame: ”Did I say you could come in? If you want to enter, crawl in!”

Thinking he couldn’t hear their incessant chatter in the security room, huh!

”You!” The journalists’ faces instantly turned green: ”What do you mean by this?!”

Not only them, but even the Wen Family Hall was taken aback.

Has this security guard gone mad?

Blocking the door with his foot in front of journalists at the corporate entrance?

Are you sure this won’t tarnish your company’s reputation?

If they write just one article about this, you’re probably finished!

”What do I mean? The literal meaning,” Wang Lai said while yawning: ”Reporters like you who harbor ill will towards the Lu Group, just stay at the door! Also, one more piece of advice for you, our finance manager is arriving soon, better scram!”

”Manager?! The finance manager?”

The journalists’ eyes lit up at once.

Watchdog, you’re digging your own grave.

We won’t bother with a Watchdog like you; we’ll go straight to your leaders to complain!

Let them dock your pay!

We don’t believe that the leaders of Lu Group would dare to ignore the consequences?!

They immediately looked around and soon saw a man dressed in a suit and tie, looking like a white-collar worker, walking towards them.

This must be the finance manager the security guard was talking about.

Seeing the expressions of the journalists, Wang Lai shook his head and wore a pitiful look.

”You’re the finance manager of Lu Group, right? Your security guard won’t let us in! And he has done something that could damage your company’s image. Aren’t you going to address this? If this gets reported, it could harm your corporation’s image,” one of the male journalists started making things difficult with an imposing tone.

The finance manager frowned upon hearing this.

Seeing the boss’s expression change, the male journalist immediately turned back with a provocative look at the security guard, still maintaining his position—Watchdog, you’re finished!

With that attitude, even without a complaint from me, you’re likely to get dealt with!

Wang Lai saw the provoking look of the journalist, sneered, shook his head, and remained silent.

Let’s see who’s really finished here.

This finance manager is a fitness fanatic, always looking for a fight.

”Looking for death!”

The finance manager suddenly reprimanded.

”Did you hear that? He’s talking about you, looking for death!”

The male journalist, swelling with self-importance, pointed at the security guard and said, ”Come here and apologize now.”

”I’m talking to you!”

The finance manager rebuked again.

”Huh?!”

The male journalist looked confused and pointing at himself asked, ”You mean me?”

No way, you can’t be talking to me?

I’m not from your company!

”Nonsense!”

The finance manager took off his suit and then his shirt, revealing his muscular body.

”Pfft!”

Seeing the muscular frame of their leader,

Wen Family Hall almost spat out a mouthful of old blood.

What’s going on, are you the finance manager or a fitness trainer?

Why do you look like that once you take off your clothes? All muscles?!

Don’t you ever work?!

Just keep fit?!

The finance manager grabbed the male journalist in an embrace: ”Come on, let’s talk about life!”

”Ah?! No, please no!”

The male journalist lost his mind!

What on earth is happening?

Your company’s employee messed up, and without any question, you’re going to beat me up?!

What did I even do?!

Everyone in your company is a bunch of lunatics!

He’s gone insane, and the Wen Family Hall is dumbfounded!

That’s not right!

Even if it was a reporter’s mistake, how did this leader know about it?

He couldn’t hold back anymore, and blurted out a question.

”Hey, security brother, why did your leader attack the reporter without saying a word?!”

He, the top of the Third Level Rich List, is stooping to ask a security guard.

”There’s no need to ask,” Wang Lai shrugged and said, ”According to our company’s rules, no matter who is right or wrong, those who tattle-tale should get beaten up.”

”Pfft!”

The Wen Family Hall wants to die!

What the hell is this rule?!

And besides, the reporters aren’t from your company, right?

Why would you beat them up?

”Is this Lu Xiaobu’s doing?”

Wen Family Hall continued to ask.

”Nope, we made up the rule ourselves, Young Master Bu doesn’t bother with us,” Wang Lai muttered, ”Young Master Bu is all good, but just too lazy, utterly lacking humanity, spending all day either sleeping or gaming and distributing money, never caring to manage us.”

Listening to the guard’s nagging, the corners of Wen Family Hall’s mouth twitched.

What?

Employees complaining about the boss not managing?

Don’t you all yearn for freedom?

At that moment, another guy in a security uniform ran over from within the venue, holding two skewers: ”Director, your grilled kidneys are ready, mildly spicy.”

”Pfft!”

Wen Family Hall, smelling the aroma of the skewers, twitched at the mouth.

Skewers?!

Isn’t it working hours now, where did these skewers come from?!

And also, how did you run out from inside the company?

Could it be the company cafeteria making skewers?

That’s not right, what company would prepare such a thing?!

And this guy’s title, Director?!

Wen Family Hall furrowed his brows and looked around.

Director?

Is there a director here?

How come I didn’t see any?

Then, he saw the new security guy handing the skewers to Wang Lai blocking the door, ”Director, your clothes are still not dry, wait a bit more! They’re being roasted.”

”No worries, not in a rush,” said Wang Lai, taking a bite of the skewer nonchalantly.

Then he looked at Wen Family Hall, ”Director Wen, want one?”

”You’re the director?!”

Wen Family Hall asked Wang Lai, shockingly, dressed in a security uniform, blocking the door, and eating skewers.

Directors are top company management!

Now you’re telling me a security guard is a director?!

What kind of director?!

Security director?!

In the world, is there such a thing?

”Ah, I’m the technical director,” Wang Lai nodded and said, ”Just now when I went fishing, I accidentally fell into the water, got my clothes wet, was too lazy to change, so I put on this security uniform, and decided to take a shift.”

”I—”

Wen Family Hall is having a meltdown!

What?!

What time is it now?

Normal companies, shouldn’t they all be in meetings right now?!

Arranging work, summarizing progress, and so on and so forth.

But you?

What the devil is fishing?!

Aren’t you supposed to be working?

Having meetings?

And also, you’re a damn technical director, why are you acting as a security guard?!

If you’re the security guard, then what is the real security guard doing?

He saw the real security guard who had just arrived and understood—I get it now, your security guards have gone off to grill skewers, haven’t they!

Are you all nuts?

Security guards go grill skewers, technical director acting as a security guard?!
