Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Fighting on the stage? Fearless, waiting to dominate [Please favorite, please recommend]

Nowadays, online discussions are boiling over because of ”Youthful Frenzy” and ”A Chinese Odyssey”.

However, online public opinion is completely one-sided.

One side is ”Youthful Frenzy,” with an investment of 480 million, with high-profile promotions everywhere and an all-star cast.

The other side has a mere ten million investment, almost no initial promotion, only depending on Chen Feiyang’s old reputation to attract attention. It only started promoting recently, and most of its appeal comes from being tagged as ’free’ - ”A Chinese Odyssey”.

It goes without saying which one the audience is more excited about!

Someone initiated a poll online:

”Would you specifically go watch ’A Chinese Odyssey’?”

Only five percent said they would special go.

Rubbish, not watching it, accounted for fifteen percent.

And the rest depend on the situation; if it’s convenient and they have time, they would watch it.

Meanwhile,

Lu Xiaobu received a phone call.

Chen Feiyang: ”Young Master Bu, everything is settled. The premiere date is set for June 21st. Young Master, what do you think?”

”That works! Let’s settle on that date.”

Lu Xiaobu shrugged, indifferent.

”Alright, that’s settled then, I’m going to post on Weibo,” Chen Feiyang nodded.

However...

Right after ”A Chinese Odyssey” announced its premiere date.

”Youthful Frenzy” also announced its premiere date—June 21st!

Clash!

Instantly, the internet exploded!

”Damn, there’s a collision! It’s like a big truck crashing into a rickety vehicle!”

”Done for, people were skeptical initially, now it’s even worse.”

”Director Chen Feiyang’s reputation might be ruined in one fell swoop!”

”Don’t sweat it, couldn’t Director Chen just change the date?”

”Yes, just changing the premiere date would settle it.”

”...”

Chen Feiyang called again, laughing bitterly: ”Young Master Bu, look at this mess, shall we push it back a week?”

Although he was confident about ”A Chinese Odyssey,” he felt there was no need for this kind of challenge.

”No need, let it be.”

Lu Xiaobu gestured dismissively.

He was confident that ”A Chinese Odyssey” feared no challenges.

”That’s fine.”

Chen Feiyang also nodded; he too disliked changing dates, lest others think he was scared!

Everyone online was waiting for Chen Feiyang to change the date.

But then...

Chen Feiyang on Weibo: The premiere is confirmed for June 21!

No change at all!

Meanwhile, the official Weibo of ”Youthful Frenzy” posted: Overestimating yourself!

Although they didn’t specify names, everyone guessed they were talking about ”A Chinese Odyssey”!

Now they were really butting heads!

This has really turned the internet into uproarious celebration; watching the drama unfold is like enjoying a show.

”Damn, 666! It’s like a challenge match, I love it!”

”Director Chen has guts, daring to face it head-on!”

”Awesome! Awesome!”

”He might get devastated though!”

”Forget it, I’ll provide a movie ticket by then, it’s free anyway. Haha!”

”...”

As the days inch closer.

The rivalry between the two movies stays intensely popular online, discussed daily.

Both movies are not only promoted online but also have continuous offline events.

After all, the box office on the premiere isn’t just determined by the movie itself, but also by how much it’s scheduled in cinemas, which is a crucial factor.

So the offline activities for ”Youthful Frenzy” are incredibly abundant.

Not only are there various press conferences, but also appearances on various programs for promotion.

And there’s also accompanying drinks, treating guests, and even giving out red envelopes and kickbacks incessantly.

This kind of thing is very common.

Even people like Heavenly King Liu Dehua and Huang Xiaoming on Earth have had to personally travel to multiple cities to treat cinema managers to meals.

Accompanying drinks is not all; they also have to personally serve food to the cinema managers, and then take selfies with them, playing ”kiss kiss”.

The sole purpose of doing this is to gain the favor of the cinema managers.

To secure more screenings for their movies in the competition of films of equal quality.

This shows what the film industry market is really like.

Whereas, ”A Chinese Odyssey” is much quieter.

Chen Feiyang just made a few phone calls to some old friends.

There were hardly any other activities.

Chen Feiyang is also helpless because he once consulted Young Master Bu, who told him—do nothing and just sit tight for the beatdown.

And then, an incident once again exploded online.

”Gong Shu, who once participated in the recording of A Chinese Odyssey, exposes that A Chinese Odyssey is a thoroughly bad movie”

Below it, there’s also a video.

It was recorded during a drinking session with Gong Shu!

In the video, Gong Shu at the drinking table starts exposing.

How Lu Xiaobu is wealthy but unkind, stingy in spending money on filmmaking.

How the script is a bad movie, Chen Feiyang is totally colluding with Lu Xiaobu.

He even reenacted a scene from ”A Chinese Odyssey”.

To be honest, there’s a scene in ”A Chinese Odyssey” whose dialogue and plot are nonsensical, which indeed is confusing when taken out of context.

Under such deliberate misrepresenting for smear, every viewer has heavily labeled ”A Chinese Odyssey” as a bad movie!

Netizens started commenting.

”Holy crap, is this even called a movie? It’s just for laughs!”

”It’s completely messing around, if what Gong Shu said is true, then fans turn to haters, no questions asked!”

”Are they fooling us?”

”But that’s not right! If it’s like what Gong Shu said, then why is this time’s viewing free?”

”Who knows, maybe there’s some underhand deal happening! A bunch of bastards!”

”...”

Liang Lan, seeing these comments, was extremely angry: ”A group of assholes, the signs of deliberate slander are too severe.”

”Yes! Even I can see that something is fishy, there must be people from ’Youthful Frenzy’ causing trouble behind the scenes, malicious competition!” Even Wu Qianmin, the naive girl, could see something was off.

”I’m going to curse them out!”

Xiaobu grabs her phone and starts to curse!

But it was all in vain.

Chen Feiyang was very angry and also very sad, he apologized to Lu Xiaobu over the phone: ”I’m sorry, Young Master Bu, I never expected Gong Shu to bite back like this!”

”It’s okay, just ignore it, there will be a time when he is on his knees begging.”

Lu Xiaobu said indifferently.

Let the waves crash, I remain unshaken!

This is his absolute confidence in ”A Chinese Odyssey”!

He would not engage in any other activities, as all of that would be an insult to Star Lord’s ”A Chinese Odyssey”!

He will use the quality of ”A Chinese Odyssey” itself, its own script, to beat everything and make everyone addicted to ”A Chinese Odyssey”!

”Alright then!”

This time even Chen Feiyang was puzzled!

Young Master Bu is too calm!

Having confidence is one thing, but this is too much!

Not fighting back against deliberate slander?

...

As the days pass, June 21st finally arrives!

Both ”Youthful Frenzy” and ”A Chinese Odyssey” are released.

The time for the widely anticipated showdown has finally come!
