Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 148: Chapter 148 All Free [Extra Chapter with 5000 Votes]

Chen Feiyang quickly packed up his things and let the people outside come in.

Three women were still pouting, looking unhappy.

”Sister Lan, transfer three billion to Director Chen, let him pay those righteous actors.”

Lu Xiaobu waved his hand and said.

”Yes, Young Master.”

Liang Lan dropped her coy demeanor and replied.

”Young Master Bu.”

Chen Feiyang suddenly stood up: ”We agreed on ten million, no, no, I can’t accept this.”

”Then consider it a bonus, you decide how to allocate it.”

Lu Xiaobu waved his hand again.

”This...”

Chen Feiyang was flabbergasted.

A bonus for me?

Is there such a bonus that gives out three billion?

Are you kidding me!

But he knew this was Young Master Bu’s trust in him.

Because this kind of reward is not an investment, which means he could completely handle this huge amount of money on his own.

Of course, he would absolutely not do that.

Young Master Bu trusted him, and he must live up to that trust!

Leaving the RV, Lu Xiaobu was walking in the film and television city with Zhou Jingyuan to calm her mind, while he said to Liang Lan:

”Sister Lan, let everyone know, I, the young master, am celebrating Red Pepper’s escape from misery, the premiere of ’A Chinese Odyssey’ will be free! Everyone can watch it once for free!”

”Free?!”

Liang Lan was taken aback: ”Young Master, although we made this movie just for fun, it shouldn’t be free!”

She felt like the Young Master was being whimsical again... er, mysterious!

”Xiaobu, are you being whimsical again? I didn’t ask for this.”

Zhou Jingyuan said, slightly annoyed.

However, she was still very happy to hear this.

Xiaobu made it all free for her?

That’s a huge amount of money.

This is like the romantic act of King You of Zhou playing with the feudal lords with beacon fires!

Wu Qianmin pouted jealously on the side: ”Hmph, free? Even if you want to make it free, will the cinemas let you? Aren’t they in it for profit?”

”True.” Lu Xiaobu nodded, ”What about the cinemas then!”

”Whew!”

The three women heaved a sigh of relief, it seems Lu Xiaobu has come to his senses.

”Then tell the cinemas, we’ll cover their costs.”

Lu Xiaobu continued.

”I...”

The three women instantly freaked out!

Well, trying to talk him out of it didn’t work, and now even more money has been thrown out.

Really!

What should I even say?

...

As the group walked through the film and television city, Wu Qianmin and Zhou Jingyuan kept urging Lu Xiaobu not to make it free.

But Lu Xiaobu just wouldn’t listen, determined as ever.

Only Liang Lan regained her composure later and began to ponder if there was some deeper meaning behind Young Master’s decision.

But after thinking it over, she found no clue.

After all, a movie is most valuable at its premiere, after one viewing, the chances of people watching it a second or third time are very low!

...

Currently, the hottest topic online is the movie ”Youthful Frenzy”.

And as a famous director, Chen Feiyang’s ’A Chinese Odyssey’ naturally gets compared with ’Youthful Frenzy’ by netizens!

However, it seems that ’Youthful Frenzy’ is clearly winning!

Many are eagerly awaiting the premiere of ’Youthful Frenzy’.

”Quick, quick, quick, I’m literally counting down every day, waiting for ’Youthful Frenzy’ to be released.”

”Me too, their promotion is so intense, even someone like me who isn’t into romance movies has been forced by my girlfriend to watch it.”

”Same here, on the floor above, such tough luck!”

”But honestly, I’m still looking forward to ’Youthful Frenzy,’ given that there are so many top stars involved.”

”Wow! My male god!”

”...”

Compared to that, the promotion for ’A Chinese Odyssey’ only seemed to entail a single Weibo post and nothing else.

Everyone was sighing.

”Ah, Director Chen Feiyang has really gone downhill!”

”Yeah, it’s ridiculous that they would even make such a weird trashy movie.”

”Come on, who are you to laugh at others when you are just hustling for money yourselves!”

”When the time comes, let’s just support it as a favor, so that Director Chen doesn’t lose too badly.”

”What a pity!”

”...”

However, that afternoon, a Weibo post from the official account of ’A Chinese Odyssey’ blew up the entire internet.

”’A Chinese Odyssey’ premiere is free, all tickets cost 0 yuan, no one is even interested in buying one.”

Now the netizens went wild!

However, it just got worse!

”Seriously, has Director Chen Feiyang gone mad?”

”Free? Watching movies without paying?”

”Has Director Chen given up on himself? Is he preparing to treat everyone?”

”No way, even if Director Chen messed up, he wouldn’t do something like this.”

”...”

Soon, the news media clarified the mystery for the netizens.

’Behind ’A Chinese Odyssey’: The Mastermind is Lu Xiaobu!’

’All doubts cleared up at once!’

’Another wasteful move by the profligate son’

’The world of the rich, we don’t understand it’

As news pieces came out one after another, netizens got it!

”Oh shoot, it’s Lu Xiaobu! That explains it!”

”Got it, the usual wastefulness of the profligate son!”

”Ahh, we can’t understand the mindset of such a spendthrift, not making money on the premiere, then when?”

”Right, are they waiting for us to watch it a second time? Or is he going to buy his own tickets? Ridiculous!”

”Not that we don’t understand the world of a waster, but that only idiots would understand!”

”Forget it, the more it’s free, the less I am inclined to go watch it, what a waste of time!”

”Better look forward to ’Youthful Frenzy’!”

”...”

At the ’Youthful Frenzy’ shooting site.

Gong Shu’s agent Wang Lan, looking haughtily, said to Gong Shu after seeing these Weibo posts: ”See? I told you to listen to me, but you just wouldn’t! ’A Chinese Odyssey’, just hearing the name, could it be a good film?”

”Yes, yes, Sister Wang is right.” Gong Shu said helplessly: ”But after all, Chen Feiyang is a big director, and since he invited me, I had to show some respect!”

”Respect? How much is that worth? The little compensation he offers, what can that do?”

Wang Lan disdainfully said, ”I tell you, Gong Shu, in this world, money comes first, everything else is nonsense.”

”So, you mean to say following Lu Xiaobu would make more money?” Gong Shu asked in return.

”Make money? Nonsense!” Wang Lan scoffed. ”I’ve realized, ’Lu Xiaobu’ is just simply a wastrel! Following him won’t make you money. Otherwise, why would Lu Xiaobu invest only ten million in ’A Chinese Odyssey’?”

”That does make sense.” Gong Shu nodded, agreeing with Wang Lan.

”Alright, hurry up and get your makeup done, you need to make an appearance soon, and then attend an event which I have already arranged.”

Wang Lan proudly said:

”See? This is the difference. Here, you just show your face, the rest will be handled by stand-ins. In ’A Chinese Odyssey’, you work yourself to exhaustion and still get criticized. Which side is better, you understand now, right?”

”Of course, Sister Wang is definitely right!” Gong Shu laughed: ”Since I’ve left, I won’t think about that terrible movie anymore, I’ll just focus on my ’Youthful Frenzy’!”

Wang Lan’s words, Gong Shu agreed with!

And so goes the filming of ’Youthful Frenzy,’ where stars just need to lend their face, the rest will naturally be handled by post-production and body doubles.

What? You say it’s not fair to the audience?

Hah! There’s a bunch of willing ticket-buying fans!

As long as it makes money, who cares about fairness!

Surely not like ’A Chinese Odyssey?’

Exhausting oneself shooting a lousy film?

Lu Xiaobu chuckled disdainfully at the comments online: ”Ah, the ignorant masses! A second watching? If you don’t average three watches, consider it my loss!”

He had absolute confidence in ’A Chinese Odyssey’!

Confidence to beat all heaven’s expectations!
