Fate-Defying Demon Emperor

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: His Demise at the Autumn Examination

Upon returning to the Lu Family, Su Han went to comfort Lu Yunxian. ”Fairy Sister Yun Xian, I need to go into seclusion for a few days to cultivate. The Qin Family definitely won’t let this slide, so please don’t leave this place for now. Wait for me to come out.”

”Little Han, go cultivate with peace of mind. I’ll take good care of myself,” Lu Yunxian replied, as gentle and understanding as ever.

Su Han nodded and gave her a few more reminders before entering his room. He didn’t lock the door, in case something unexpected happened to Fairy Sister Yun Xian and he couldn’t sense it.

Qin Feng is dead. The Great Crown Prince is next! A sharp glint flashed in Su Han’s eyes, his heart filling with boundless killing intent.

Both Lu Mingxuan and Qin Feng were merely pawns sent by the Empress. Killing them would enrage her, but it wouldn’t make her feel true pain. Only by killing the Great Crown Prince could he make that venomous woman experience the same despair and agony he had once felt.

I will kill the Great Crown Prince during the Autumnal Examinations!

Su Han let out a long breath, suppressing the surging killing intent in his heart. He reached into his Storage Ring and retrieved Qin Feng’s corpse. The Great Crown Prince possessed the Dragon Phoenix Saint Body and was incredibly powerful. Su Han was currently no match for him; he had to become stronger.

Devouring Qin Feng’s Golden Spirit Body was his first step.

The Ghost Spider Inner Armor and the Heaven and Earth Slash were merely external items. Only by strengthening his own physical body and potential would he have the capital to fight the Great Crown Prince.

Devouring Heaven Demonic Art, I hope you don’t disappoint me!

Su Han activated the Devouring Heaven Demonic Art. Immediately, black Demonic Qi surged from his body and crawled over Qin Feng’s corpse. Soon, the black Demonic Qi swallowed both of them, forming a cocoon-like mass. He was like a chrysalis, awaiting the day he would emerge as a butterfly.

While Su Han was in seclusion, Lu Yunxian guarded his door. She sat in a chair, remaining completely still. Even if ten thousand enemies came, she would not retreat a single step, because Su Han was her life.

In the inner residence of the Qin Family, the grievously injured Qin Xiong lay on a bed. His face was bloodless and his breathing was faint, as if he could die at any moment. Although Elder Kui’s Luo Tian Palm had not killed him, it had left him with unprecedentedly severe injuries.

”The Empress has arrived!” a guard announced, and soon after, the regal and magnificent Empress walked into the inner residence as everyone knelt before her.

”We greet Your Majesty!” the three elders cried out, kneeling swiftly, daring not to show the slightest disrespect.

The Empress ignored everyone else, her beautiful eyes fixed solely on Qin Xiong. This was her dear brother, who had protected and cherished her their entire lives. Their bond was deep, but seeing him in this state made her heart clench as if being pierced by a knife.

”Brother, I won’t let you die.” The Empress’s voice was firm. She reached into her Storage Ring and retrieved a jade bottle.

The instant the bottle was opened, a rich, clean fragrance filled the room, stunning the three elders. Drops of amber Spiritual Liquid flowed from the jade bottle into Qin Xiong’s mouth. This was Jade Dew Essence, a supreme healing treasure. Every drop was exceptionally precious, and even the Empress possessed very little. Yet, she poured it all into his mouth without the slightest hesitation.

As the Jade Dew Essence took effect, some color returned to Qin Xiong’s pale face. His breathing steadied, and his heartbeat grew gradually stronger and clearer.

Qin Xiong slowly opened his eyes. Seeing the Empress, he managed a faint smile. ”Sister, thank you,” he rasped, calling her by that name for the first time in a long while.

”Brother,” the Empress said, carefully pulling the blanket over him, ”your injuries are too severe. The Jade Dew Essence has saved your life, but you will still need a long time to recover.”

”Feng’er is dead!” Qin Xiong’s eyes were bloodshot, and the flames of hatred burned in his chest. ”This enmity is irreconcilable! I must kill that little bastard and avenge my son!” His rage was so intense he wished he could rush to the Lu Family and tear Su Han to shreds that very moment.

Qin Feng was his son, his greatest hope. Now that hope was extinguished and he himself was grievously injured, the anger in his heart burned more intensely than ever.

”Brother, rest assured, I will not let that little bastard live,” the Empress soothed, her phoenix eyes glinting with cold, murderous intent. ”I also bear responsibility for Feng’er’s death. If I hadn’t let him go and provoke Su Han, he wouldn’t have been killed. You focus on healing. Leave the matter of revenge to me.”

Qin Feng’s death had also taken her by surprise. Unlike Lu Mingxuan, Qin Feng was not only powerful but also possessed the Golden Spirit Body, a talent second only to the Great Crown Prince in the entire Imperial Capital. The Empress had sent him thinking victory was certain. She never expected Su Han to have grown so strong, so quickly.

”Brother, Myriad Treasures Pavilion interfered this time to protect that little bastard, so for now, we shouldn’t stir the pot. However, the Autumnal Examinations are in half a month, and that little bastard will be participating. I have already instructed Tian’er to kill Su Han during the competition.

”The Autumnal Examinations are a major event for the Tianqing Dynasty. Even the powerful Myriad Treasures Pavilion has no right to interfere. At that time, we can kill him justifiably. I will personally take his head to offer to Feng’er’s restless spirit!”

A cold light flashed in her phoenix eyes, her killing intent palpable; she could not rest until Su Han was dead.

But the intervention of Tongyan and Elder Kui signified the stance of the Myriad Treasures Pavilion. The Tianqing Dynasty was powerful, but it was nothing compared to the Myriad Treasures Pavilion. Because of this, many of the Empress’s schemes could not be deployed, as angering the Pavilion would be far more trouble than it was worth. Moreover, Qin Xiong’s grievous injury served as a warning from Tongyan. If the Empress were to send experts to assassinate Su Han now, she would surely incur the wrath of the Myriad Treasures Pavilion.

The Empress understood all of this perfectly. Thus, even though her hatred for Su Han cut to the bone, she didn’t dare act rashly. All she could do was wait for the Autumnal Examinations.

Qin Xiong was no fool and understood the consequences of provoking the Myriad Treasures Pavilion. He knew his only hope for revenge lay with the Great Crown Prince. ”The Great Crown Prince is exceptionally gifted,” he said. ”He will surely reign supreme in the future.”

”Don’t worry, brother. The King has already taken Tian’er to the Spirit Vein Chamber for intensive cultivation. He will certainly be the star of the Autumnal Examinations. At that point, no one in this world will be able to stop him. Killing Su Han will be as easy as crushing an ant.” A look of immense pride filled the Empress’s face; the Great Crown Prince was her everything.

”In that case, let the little bastard live a few more days,” Qin Xiong seethed, clenching his fists tightly, his eyes blazing with towering hatred. ”At the Autumnal Examinations, I want to watch him die with my own eyes!”

The Qin Family and Su Han were now enemies unto death.

”Brother, focus on your recovery. In the next few days, I will have someone send more Healing Treasures. Rest assured, I have everything under control!”

The Empress offered a reassuring smile, comforting Qin Xiong with a few more words before taking her leave.

Stepping out of the Qin residence, the Empress paused and glanced back in the direction of the Lu Family estate. Her icy countenance was filled with intense murderous intent.

His Dragon Soul had been taken and his Heavenly Dragon Battle Body crippled. Yet, this little bastard had somehow managed to cultivate again and was rising with such terrifying speed. He was an endless source of future trouble and could not be allowed to live any longer.

The Autumnal Examinations shall be his doom!
