Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 50: Chapter 50: My Brother’s Friend Is a Celebrity?

In fact, Li Younan wasn’t just waking up; he had been awake for a long time. When he was working before, he always had a dream: to sleep at 9 PM and wake up at 6 AM every day. Even if he spent an hour in bed just being idle, he could guarantee a full 8 hours of sleep.

When he was young, he was quite impatient too. In elementary school, there was once when he forgot his homework, and his teacher accused him of lying, which made him cry from frustration. He was still upset when he got home, feeling wronged and blaming the teacher for falsely accusing him.

His mom comforted him by saying, it’s alright, if you’re in a bad mood, just get a good night’s sleep for 8 hours, and everything will be fine.

After Li Younan got a good night’s sleep, sure enough, everything was fine the next day.

His mom reminded him of the phrase he often heard, ”It’s no big deal.”

After he started working, Li Younan tried to keep a regular routine, but many times he still couldn’t help himself. However, as long as he could get enough sleep, he would find his mood calmed down, especially when he woke up naturally, feeling refreshed, as if all the emotional trash from the previous day had been cleared away.

But comparatively, staying up late didn’t have the same effect as going to bed early. Going to bed at 9 PM and waking up at five or six the next morning made the daytime seem really long, and he felt he could greet this long day with the fullest energy, as if time was endless.

And now, his life lets him freely realize this dream.

After waking up, he didn’t do anything particularly meaningful.

He woke up at 5:30, and after freshening up, spent an hour playing ”King of Glory” in the hotel room. Even though he lost two games in a row, he was still calm.

Lan Yiyi sent him a message when Li Younan was about to go have breakfast. He casually replied and asked, ”Are you sure you want to come play with us? We’re two guys, you know.”

Lan Yiyi replied, ”As long as you don’t mind me.”

Li Younan found this message quite amusing.

This kind of talk was likely just polite, after all, despite everything, Lan Yiyi was a minor celeb, and her family background was quite good. Once out in society, most regular folks wouldn’t be able to interact with people like her, and no matter from which angle, Li Younan couldn’t possibly mind Lan Yiyi, and as for Xie Lin...

Li Younan thought, Xie Lin... is sort of in the film industry too, so he should be quite calm when meeting a star.

Since she wants to follow along, just let her come, having a pretty girl around while playing is quite pleasant.

After breakfast, Li Younan went to pick up Xie Lin first, since Xie Lin lived a bit closer. Today, Xie Lin was dressed in his usual denim outfit and Martin boots.

Xie Lin got into the passenger seat and said, ”Let’s visit the nearby attractions today, and head to the commercial center at noon.” He smiled and added, ”I want to buy a set of cosmetics for Juhong on the way.”

Li Younan was a bit surprised.

Xie Lin immediately explained, ”She really isn’t good at makeup, haha, she’s naturally pretty, but I saw she does envy girls who have cosmetics, and they’re not expensive now.”

Li Younan nodded and said, ”Let’s pick someone up first.”

Xie Lin was a bit puzzled, ”Someone else joining us? A friend of yours?”

Li Younan nodded and casually said, ”Insisted on coming with me, and it didn’t feel right to refuse.”

Xie Lin chuckled, ”Then bring them along, your friend is my friend, don’t worry, I’ll be very courteous to them and show them my hospitality.”

Li Younan held the steering wheel, glanced at Xie Lin, thought for a moment, and said nothing.

...

In the car, Xie Lin looked around boredly. When he talked to Li Younan earlier, Li Younan answered with just ”uh-huh” and ”yup-yup” because he found chatting while driving unsafe.

With traffic at a standstill, Xie Lin then asked, ”So, when did you meet that friend of yours?”

Li Younan said, ”Met when filming a couple of days ago.”

Hearing they just met a few days ago, Xie Lin immediately got cautious, saying, ”Bro, that place is packed with all sorts of people; most are good, but there are a few looking to cause trouble. I’ve seen lots of them, so be a bit careful.”

Li Younan shook his head, ”I doubt she’s out to cause trouble.”

Xie Lin said helplessly, ”You’re too kind-hearted, but this society has many dark sides. We shouldn’t suspect people maliciously, but being cautious is a must.”

Li Younan replied, ”It’s a girl.”

Xie Lin slapped his thigh, ”A girl? Girls can be more deceptive and get away with it more easily!”

Li Younan chuckled, ”You’ll understand when you meet her.”

The traffic cleared ahead, ending the jam.

Suddenly, Li Younan asked, ”Hey buddy, you’ve been filming for a while, you must deal with stars often, right?”

Xie Lin showed a wry smile, ”You’re overestimating me, man. Us extras don’t get those kind of chances.”

Li Younan thoughtfully said, ”I thought you guys work at the same place often.”

Xie Lin laughed at himself, ”Even the White House has janitors!”

At the next intersection, Li Younan turned the car, arriving at Lan Yiyi’s hotel.

At that moment, Lan Yiyi was obediently waiting outside the hotel door.

Xie Lin naturally got drawn to Lan Yiyi; it’s a male instinct.

When a pretty girl shows up in the frame, men’s eyes as ”predators” instinctively lock onto her. Feeling he might be staring too long, he couldn’t wait to share with Li Younan, so he lowered his voice, saying mysteriously, ”Bro, look at that beauty over there...”

Li Younan nodded and drove straight toward her.

Seeing this, Xie Lin was first stunned but quickly realized, hastily asking, ”Brother, what are you doing?”

Li Younan said, ”Inviting her into the car.”

Xie Lin was nearly dizzy, realizing suddenly that maybe Li Younan was messing with him?

His mind flashed a scene: Li Younan rolling down the window, ”Hi, beauty, my buddy just complimented you.”

That scene chilled his heart.

However, Xie Lin’s imagined scenario didn’t play out.

The car slowly stopped beside the beauty, the window rolled down, and Xie Lin quickly turned his face to Li Younan. He saw Li Younan merely smile at the beauty, followed by the sound of doors opening and closing.

Xie Lin hesitated, turned his head, and saw the beauty sitting in the back seat.

They both looked at each other, momentarily flustered.

Li Younan chuckled and said, ”Introducing my friend, Xie Lin, also working in Hengdian’s film industry.”

The beauty smiled, ”Hello, Xie Lin.”

Xie Lin thought even her voice was pleasant, so delightful.

Then Li Younan added to Xie Lin, ”This is the friend I met a couple of days ago. Her name is Lan Yiyi, a big star. In the drama I’m in, she’s the lead actress.”

Upon hearing this, Xie Lin thought he misheard, instinctively saying ”Oh,” and once he realized, he was petrified.

With an exaggerated expression, he turned to look at Lan Yiyi, eyes wide like gongs.

It was indeed Lan Yiyi, although she wasn’t a prominent actress, Xie Lin, being part of the industry, couldn’t possibly not know Lan Yiyi, considering he introduced Li Younan to this group, so he surely recognized her.

Still, even having seen her, he wouldn’t stare directly at her face, just glanced from afar and kept a beautiful impression, but on the street, he’d have a hard time recognizing her.

Realizing her identity now, his tongue started getting tied, stammering, ”You... hello.”

Lan Yiyi lowered her head, lightly brushing her hair, softly saying, ”Sorry for troubling you.”

Before Li Younan could say anything, Xie Lin immediately replied, ”No trouble at all, it’s an honor!”

Then he took a deep breath, leaned back in his seat, and suddenly suggested, ”Why not sit in the front passenger seat!”

Lan Yiyi hesitated a bit, quickly shaking her head, ”No... no need.”

Listening to their awkward conversation, Li Younan couldn’t help but laugh heartily.
