Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Luxury Car Worth a Million, Bought at a Bargain Price!

Li Younan first experienced how powerful the abilities brought by the system were. Just with a glance, he already had a preliminary judgment.

The car collision was very serious. From the form of the collision, it was obvious that it hit the rear of a large truck head-on. Perhaps the truck was not carrying cargo, and the trunk was a flatbed. As a result, it embedded fiercely into the car’s front in a cutting manner, and at a glance, it was clear that the engine must have been severely damaged.

After stopping the car, a rugged-looking guy jumped down from the truck’s passenger side. He had a thick beard and was somewhat bald, giving the impression that the baldness was due to excess hormone secretion. After jumping off the truck, he turned and slammed the door shut, then loudly said, ”Boss, come over and help me see how much this car is worth?”

Li Younan felt that this guy had a strong voice, sounding as if he had a megaphone installed. Soon, the person in charge of the second-hand car market was called over. He glanced at the Cooluzer lying on the flatbed and frowned. Then he seriously walked around the car twice, saying solemnly that it needed to be inspected to know.

He then looked at the bearded man and said, ”But given this situation, the engine might be damaged. If the engine is broken, it won’t be worth much.”

Originally planning to leave, Li Younan hesitated upon seeing this scene and did not leave immediately. Instead, he followed the group towards the inspection area in the workshop. No one noticed Li Younan’s actions.

This Cooluzer was taken into the inspection room, and the machine lifted the car high up. Li Younan stood beside without much presence, observing the entire process unfold.

The bearded guy lit a cigarette, showing slightly yellowed teeth, scratched his somewhat greasy forehead, and said loudly, ”Anyway, look if you can. If not, just let it be.”

While the workers were inspecting, the person in charge chatted with the bearded guy beside him, smiling as he asked, ”How did this car end up like this, so badly damaged?”

The bearded guy sighed, saying, ”Rear-ended a heavy truck, but fortunately, this car is quite sturdy, and no one was hurt.”

Li Younan listened silently on the side, nodding to himself. It was pretty much what he had guessed.

Actually, without inspection, Li Younan had already concluded that the car’s engine was definitely broken, and the gearbox probably had some degree of damage as well. However, the car’s frame was intact, sparking some ideas in his mind.

”Why not claim insurance? This car looks quite new...”

”Quite new? Damn, it’s brand new!” As soon as this topic came up, the uncle was particularly annoyed, his voice rising by eight degrees. He sighed heavily and continued, ”The car was only out of the 4S shop for a few hours, the insurance hasn’t even taken effect, and it crashed. And it was all my fault...”

”Uh...”

Li Younan was also somewhat speechless listening on the side... Like a cow sitting on a steam engine.

Soon the inspection results came out. When the worker separated the car body from the chassis, lifting the body high and exposing the chassis and underbody, he grinned and turned to say, ”No need to inspect anymore, this engine can’t be fixed, you’ll definitely need a new one.”

Upon hearing this, the person in charge told the bearded man, ”Brother, I suggest you scrap this car. If you sell it to me, I’ll give you at most twenty thousand yuan.”

The uncle frowned, saying, ”So low?”

The person in charge sighed slightly, smiling helplessly and said, ”Brother, to be honest, repairing this car costs too much. Just the engine and possibly the gearbox together account for about sixty percent of the car price. Then there are various other parts, plus labor costs, repairing this would be four to five hundred thousand. But can I still sell the car at this price after all that? It’s had a major accident after all.”

Upon hearing this, the bearded guy took a deep drag of his cigarette, remaining silent as his gaze continued sweeping over the broken car. After a moment, he slowly exhaled a thin, soft cloud of smoke, casually tossed the cigarette butt to the ground and crushed it, shaking his head saying, ”Forget it, two thousand is two thousand, I don’t feel like towing it away.”

At this moment, Li Younan suddenly approached the car to observe seriously.

With the car body separated from the frame, it was easier to clearly see the parts inside. He seemed like a top mechanic with rich repair experience, glancing briefly and already having a rough idea of which parts need replacing, which areas need repairing, even how much the corresponding parts would roughly cost.

However, unfortunately, the extent of damage to the engine can’t be judged with just the naked eye, it must be disassembled to see clearly.

Everyone was drawn to Li Younan’s behavior, watching him curiously. The market person couldn’t help but ask, ”Brother, who are you?”

Li Younan turned around and smiled, ”I’m a car repair enthusiast.”

Then he turned his gaze to the uncle, saying, ”Uncle, I’ll offer you twenty-eight thousand yuan, how about you sell me this car?”

Upon hearing this, everyone present was momentarily stunned.

The person in charge clearly frowned; he had told the bearded uncle earlier, frankly and without exaggeration, he didn’t even feel like he was making a profit offering two thousand for this car.

But then this young man suddenly jumped in, offering twenty-eight thousand yuan, making him feel a bewildering sense of loss.

However, at this point, he couldn’t say much anymore, as raising the price would make the uncle feel he had intentionally lowered the price initially. He said, ”Young man, spending twenty-eight thousand yuan on this car isn’t worth it. Fixing it would cost forty to fifty thousand, you don’t think I’m deceiving you, right?”

Li Younan nonchalantly replied, ”It’s okay.”

The bearded uncle became curious, sizing up Li Younan a bit. This young man in front wasn’t handsome but was clean and sunny, seemingly unrelated to vehicle repair. He asked, ”Why do you want to buy my car anyway?”

At that moment, Li Younan was fiddling with the electrical components inside, casually answering, ”Just wanna see if it can be fixed.”

When he said this, the workers nearby laughed, not in mockery but simply amused, saying, ”Young man, from my ten years of repair experience, even if regular mechanics can fix this car, the cost is fixed. You’d be better off finding a second-hand car in better condition with that money!”

Actually, the uncle also knew a bit about car repair himself. Before towing the car here, he had asked around about how much repairing his car would cost.

The conclusion was almost the same as the person in charge: this car’s value had practically vanished due to its hundred-thousand-yuan cost. The young man offering twenty-eight thousand yuan for his car seemed irrational to the uncle, who said earnestly, ”Young man, you better think this through. If you really offer twenty-eight thousand yuan, of course, I’m willing to sell it to you, but towing it away to spend tens of thousands to repair it makes no sense.”

Li Younan shook his head, saying, ”Brother, didn’t you say it was a new car? Even if I spend tens of thousands to fix it, it’s still quite a deal.”

The person in charge felt Li Younan was just a naive young guy. Cars with major accident and extensive repair histories, despite their short age and low mileage, still need significant depreciation compared to new cars. People who know the market likely wouldn’t buy such cars.

Frankly, the bearded uncle was seemingly straightforward and wouldn’t pass up money. Perhaps he felt a bit bad selling it to Li Younan for twenty-eight thousand yuan and eventually only charged him twenty-five thousand. Li Younan smoothly acquired this almost brand-new scrap car.

After signing the contract, the car officially belonged to Li Younan, and it was already evening.

At this moment, Li Younan was in a great mood, confident he could fix the car despite not having had the chance to inspect it thoroughly.

And at this happiest moment, Yang Ting called.
