Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Veteran Actor

After confirming the upcoming journey to Jinhua, Li Younan felt a bit hesitant. It was already late at night, the moonlight quietly poured down, making the Milky Way appear vast. However, even with the moonlight, walking in such a place at night wouldn’t be easy.

Thinking about his novice level, Li Younan decided not to take risks. There weren’t any large animals around, and at this hour, it’s unlikely that anyone would be wandering nearby. After a bit of hesitation, he decided to make do with a night in the car.

Luckily, he bought a bed board during the day, so resting in the car for a night wouldn’t be too uncomfortable. Li Younan climbed onto the makeshift bed he had set up, locked the car door, leaving a crack in the window.

It was probably because he had slept too long during the day that he couldn’t fall asleep. Half-dazed and half-awake, the night passed. He was awakened by the first ray of sunshine, sat up, and found his back had sweated a lot, even the mattress was wet.

Hot.

Li Younan stretched lazily, still feeling somewhat weary. To be honest, he didn’t sleep well last night. The main problem wasn’t the bed board; rather, it was his first time spending the night in the car, worried about any uncertainties occurring at night... He feared suffocation, didn’t dare to lock the car window; Plus, while there wasn’t much light pollution outdoors, the car lacked equipment to block light, and the weather was clear, with the moonlight being too bright.

Li Younan folded the camp bed, tidied up, and washed up a bit with mineral water, preparing to set off with a slightly tired body. By now, cars of those planning to camp today were heading this way.

Li Younan found it amusing; it was his first camping experience, without the most crucial tent and canopy, not prepared for sleeping at night. Overall, the experience was quite chaotic.

But that’s alright; having this experience gave him direction for preparations next time, as he was undeniably a novice in travel. Which expert didn’t accumulate experience through repeated mistakes?

Li Younan didn’t rush directly to Jinhua; he drove to the nearest town, found a motel, and rented a room for a couple of hours, catching up on sleep and refreshing himself before hitting the road again, as safety was paramount.

When Li Younan woke up, like most people, he habitually took out his phone and browsed short videos to gradually find his wakeful state. But soon, he sat up with a somewhat odd expression, as he had over 30 notifications.

Li Younan opened them and discovered the cause was a comment he made under a ”Webster” video yesterday, ”Isn’t it enough to have feet?” Surprisingly, this seemingly inconspicuous comment received a personal reply from the video creator, who just replied with a smiley face, saying luckily they had feet.

Unexpectedly, because of the creator’s reply, many people noticed the comment, leading to a surge in responses, with quite a few questioning him, and naturally some unfriendly, sarcastic folks saying, ”Since you’re so awesome, why not prove it by posting a video?”, ”Looks like a three-no-account.”

Li Younan found this amusing; in the past, he wouldn’t have actively responded. However, this time, after some thought, he suddenly decided.

He quickly got out of bed, took the room card to check out. The motel’s front desk was managed by the owner’s daughter, a radiant young lady.

Li Younan placed the room card on the counter, the girl didn’t even lift her head, quickly handling the checkout.

At this moment, a mobile phone was handed over, with the video recording already on. Then the girl heard, ”Miss, could you please help me film it?”

When doing something, people instinctively accept what’s handed to them. The girl paused, and when she accepted it, she accidentally switched to selfie mode, showing a confused expression. She quickly switched back to rear camera mode, then pointed at Li Younan, following through like her expression suggested, full of bewilderment.

Just as she aimed the camera at Li Younan, he unexpectedly flipped forward, landing in a stylish half-squat like Iron Man.

The girl’s expression froze instantly, uh? What just happened?

Li Younan took back the phone and checked it; the girl’s cute, naive expression was captured when she accidentally switched to selfie mode. After a thought, he asked, ”Can I post it to my account?”

The girl hesitated, asking, ”You’re not a streamer, right?”

Li Younan opened his account page showing her, ”See, not a single follower.”

After some thought, the girl said, ”Alright then, you can post it.”

Li Younan tagged the comment, didn’t edit, used the video reply feature to post it. After doing this, he resumed his journey.

Before reaching Jinhua, Li Younan naturally did a lot of homework. Jinhua is an interesting place, with many famous landmarks known by many, interestingly, although most people know these landmarks, they don’t know their origin.

For example, the world’s small commodities capital Yiwu, and the Hengdian Film and Television City, filled with palaces and battlefields, constantly filming, known as the Chinese Hollywood. Also, those who’ve studied know the poet Ai Qing, who’s also from Jinhua.

Traveling is indeed a wonderful thing; ancient people said, ”Reading ten thousand books is inferior to traveling ten thousand miles,” and at this moment, Li Younan began to comprehend the saying’s meaning. Before coming here, he knew Yiwu, Hengdian, and even Jinhua ham, but didn’t know Jinhua City.

From here to Jinhua, the distance was close; Hengdian was further east in Dongyang City. Before lunchtime, Li Younan arrived in Dongyang’s downtown. Once there, Li Younan immediately called his old buddy.

The buddy’s name was Xie Lin; back in middle school, he was the most mischievous troublemaker in the class. His thinking was erratic, often doing unexpected things, making others laugh and cry. Most classmates saw him as a jester, only Li Younan treated him as a friend.

Li Younan always felt sorry for him; his father had an accident on a construction site, causing paralysis, and his mother passed from illness. After middle school, he moved to Jinhua with his uncle, and before you know it, it’s been over a decade of continuous hustle.

Li Younan booked the room, with over 40,000 yuan left in his savings, he only opened a basic hotel room this time. After booking, Li Younan waited for Xie Lin at a nearby small restaurant.

A half-hour later, Xie Lin got out of a taxi. Despite not seeing each other for over a decade, Li Younan recognized him immediately.

Xie Lin wore huge sunglasses, denim on the top, jeans below, and Martin boots on his feet. After getting out, he took out a leather wallet and suavely paid the taxi driver in cash.
