Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 187: Chapter 187: Here Comes Good Luck, Here Comes Good Luck

The sound played from the phone wasn’t loud, so it wouldn’t attract zombies from afar.

Even so, in the silent night, the sound of the fortune song still seemed so abrupt.

It was as if the New Year was coming.

A slight twitch appeared at the corner of Leng Yebai’s cold mouth.

He always felt that his own Xiao Niu had a talent for comedy.

There was a faint noise coming from the safe zone.

A member of a patrolling Superpower User team climbed up the wall to take a look outside, immediately spotting Bai Yifan, the notorious road hazard.

”Hey! I’m just listening to some music. Uncle Wang will be here soon, shall we hang out together?”

Bai Yifan tilted his head and looked at the patrolling person with a half-smile.

The team member, dressed in a parka, left without a word, jumping over the wall.

”Farewell!”

You can’t provoke Uncle Wang’s people.

Or else, you might end up dead on the road someday without knowing.

Just listening to a song, go ahead and listen!

Those who know Old Wang are all brave artists.

”May fortune come to you, may fortune come to you~”

The infectious sound still emanated from the phone, indescribably eerie.

Bai Xiqin used her control power to place the phone by the window.

The abandoned three-story building remained unresponsive.

Within less than a minute, Bai Xiqin turned off the phone.

”Sis, is this safe?”

Bai Yifan was a bit anxious.

The fortune song wasn’t strong today; what if the zombies inside didn’t hear it!

”It’ll be fine. Zombies will come charging out when they hear this sound.” Bai Xiqin said with a calm face.

”But what if they don’t come out?” Bai Yifan was still uneasy.

”Impossible!” Bai Xiqin said confidently.

Zombies hunt by sound and smell, simple-minded with strong limbs. If they hear a sound, there will definitely be some movement.

Of course, except for the High Rank Zombies.

”What if the zombies are as cunning as Fan Tangtang, and can’t be tricked?” Bai Yifan mumbled softly, ”I have this feeling that a High Rank Zombie is staring at me, and what if it bites me when I’m not looking?”

From the second floor next door, Zhang Yiming: ...

No, I’m picky.

”You think High Rank Zombies are as common as cabbages?”

Bai Xiqin shrugged.

Bai Yifan scratched his head, still a bit scared.

Always felt zombies were watching him from afar!

Bai Xiqin shook her head; her younger brother was always neurotic, unlike her, who was magnanimous!

Seeing no abnormalities inside, Bai Xiqin lifted her foot to step inside.

Bai Yifan glanced back at Leng Yebai, ”Brother-in-law, you have to protect us from behind later.”

With a cool expression, Leng Yebai nodded.

Don’t worry!

If there’s danger, he would immediately carry Xiao Niu and run without stopping.

Seeing Leng Yebai nod, Bai Yifan let out a slight sigh of relief and followed closely behind Bai Xiqin, walking in step by step.

Before Leng Yebai entered, he paused slightly, raising his eyes to look at the second floor of the building next door.

Zhang Yiming stood expressionlessly by the window, his slender fingers slowly lifted.

He gently placed both hands on his head, rubbing his fluffy hair.

He even added a motion as if using shampoo.

Leng Yebai’s cheek twitched severely, his gaze ghostly as he looked at the back of Bai Yifan’s head.

Don’t be fooled by Xiao Fan being the weakest; in some aspects, his whimsical logic was the strongest.

Leng Yebai strode towards the sibling duo, no longer paying attention to the Zombie King currently washing its hair.

The Zombie King neglected the most crucial step.

His Xiao Niu had said to wash hair upside down!

Bai Xiqin turned on her phone’s flashlight, the faint light illuminating the path ahead.

The door was locked tightly.

The three of them stared at the door, falling into deep thought.

Zombie footprints were still there; zombies couldn’t open doors.

After they went in, who locked the door?

Bai Yifan’s hands trembled as a faint yellow light flickered on them.

With a click sound.

The door lock deformed.

Bai Yifan quickly stepped back, retreating behind Bai Xiqin, again taking the central position.

The central position was the safest.

Bai Xiqin’s fingers placed lightly on the door, not immediately pushing it open, as the air around her fingers slightly distorted.

The invisible control power spread throughout the abandoned three-story building, with Bai Xiqin vaguely sensing the presence of a few small active animals.

Aside from these, everything else remained still.

Bai Xiqin couldn’t exactly discern what they were, only able to perceive a vague shape.

They were just some abandoned furniture and the like.

With a creak.

Bai Xiqin pushed open the door.

A moldy stench hit them in the face.

A rotten odor wafted over in strands from inside.

In addition to the rotten smell, there was also a faint, unobtrusive fragrance.

The scent was so faint, it seemed imperceptible.

Bai Xiqin’s eyes deepened as she exchanged a glance with Leng Yebai, stepping into the house.

Using her phone, Bai Xiqin shone the light around several times, seeing only some broken furniture and thick layers of dust.

Imprinted in the dust on the floor were black footprints.

Besides the black footprints, reddish-brown and black blood were mixed on the ground.

Someone must have thrown in flesh and blood to attract the zombies.

The zombies were trapped inside, left to be devoured by the hunter within.

Bai Xiqin looked at the door lock; there was a wire and a small sensor at the lock, with a tiny spring beneath the door.

The spring was tightly pulling the door closed, capable of closing it without a human push.

This door lock was controlled by humans, and by its hidden mechanism, the person must have already known the door was opened.

Bai Xiqin’s eyes deepened slightly.

The birth of a Mutated Ant Queen was a disaster for humanity.

Who on earth was risking death to create an Ant Queen?

And what benefit could they gain from this?

Bai Xiqin’s control power was unleashed to the extreme, preventing mutated ants from attacking them to protect their queen.

The first floor was empty, seemingly without anything unusual.

Bai Xiqin advanced towards the staircase.

The staircase was coated with a layer of black liquid, resembling the blood left behind when zombies were sliced into pieces by mutated ants and dragged upward.

Thump, thump, thump.

The quiet surroundings were eerily silent, with only the trio’s footsteps audible.

Second floor.

There was nothing unusual on the second floor, no sign of mutated ants, nor even ordinary ones.

Thump, thump, thump.

The three continued climbing the stairs.

On the third floor, occasionally visible were a few grains of food and breadcrumbs.

The doorway at the top of the stairs on the third floor had a prominently hanging camera.

As Bai Xiqin and the others saw the camera, they were already under surveillance.

Bai Xiqin smiled at the camera, gently raised her hand, and the camera severely deformed with a crunching sound.

Bai Yifan rubbed the goosebumps on his arms, wanting to say something but dared not speak, shakily placing his hand on the third-floor door handle.

Click.

The lock deformed.

The control power within Bai Xiqin reached its peak, adding weight to everything inside the third floor.

Leng Yebai’s fingers were entwined with purple lightning, and Bai Yifan’s body glowed with a yellow shine.

Even though Bai Xiqin didn’t sense many small creatures, an Ant Queen would naturally have numerous Worker and Soldier Ants protecting their king.

Even Bai Xiqin’s nerves were taut, with her control power fully exerted.

Then, she abruptly pushed the door open.

A nauseating stench of decay rushed at them.

Unexpectedly.

There wasn’t the anticipated swarm of ants coming at them.

The empty third floor had only a cabinet and a desk.

Besides that, a pile of rotting zombie corpses reeking of a foul stench lay on the ground.

The black blood had spread throughout the area.

The rotting body was chopped into pieces, each piece no larger than five centimeters.

A red mutated ant stood facing Bai Xiqin and the others, its antennas pointing at them defensively.
