Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1097: Chapter 747: Refining Spirit Pills and Forging Spiritual Weapons

The saying ”failure is the mother of success” holds true. After more than a dozen failures, Yang Zhenshan was undeterred, and the master and apprentice continued their experiments the next day.

Failure, failure, failure, and still failure.

For over ten days, the master and apprentice didn’t know how many times they had failed, with countless herbs wasted in alchemy.

These two were like squanderers, pouring meticulous effort into their experiments without hesitating to use the materials.

Fortunately, Yang Zhenshan had no shortage of herbs; otherwise, not just a Martial Arts Family, but even an aristocratic family would be led to bankruptcy by their efforts.

Of course, each failure was not without significance.

The two had become increasingly adept at controlling the Pill Furnace with a deeper understanding of refining spirit pills.

In the blink of an eye, a month had passed.

In the Pill Room, Wang Mingzhe carefully controlled the True Fire Array, while Yang Zhenshan stood by the furnace, sketching a rune in the air to cast onto the furnace.

In the next instant, Yang Zhenshan raised his hand abruptly, striking the lid of the furnace.

With a bang, a faint white aura spread from the lid, slowly sinking into the inner furnace.

”It’s done!”

He shouted, and Wang Mingzhe promptly closed the array.

Then the two eagerly opened the lid, and a wave of heat rose from the inner furnace, followed by dozens of round, creamy elixirs at the bottom.

Mysteriously, they exuded a chilling aura.

Despite the searing heat within the furnace, the elixirs emitted a cold aura.

Yang Zhenshan’s eyes lit up, and with a gesture, the elixirs floated like a stream out of the furnace, landing on the porcelain plate beside them.

”Thirty-two!”

The master and apprentice each picked one up to inspect.

The appearance was very similar to spirit pills sold outside, with a shimmering surface and a faint rune pattern.

”Master, these should be Ice Spirit Pills!” confirmed Wang Mingzhe.

Ice Spirit Pills, the most basic low-grade ice attribute spirit pill, had no peculiar traits; their effect was simply to provide ice attribute spiritual power beneficial for martial artists practicing ice attribute cultivation techniques.

Such low-grade spirit pills were mostly used by martial artists below the Innate level; Innate martial artists could use them, but the effect was relatively weak.

Yang Zhenshan took out an Ice Spirit Pill bought from outside and compared the two.

”A rune is missing, the Ice Crystal Rune is missing!”

Then, he consumed both pills one after the other, carefully discerning the differences between them.

”The effectiveness differs by thirty percent; it seems there’s something extra, hmm...”

Yang Zhenshan felt the cold aura contained a hint of a fiery breath, and a flash of insight came, ”Fire Toxicity!”

”It must be that the flame was too strong during refining, leaving behind some fire toxicity in the elixirs!”

He waved his hand, expelling the scorching breath from his body.

He then smiled broadly, patting Wang Mingzhe’s shoulder forcefully, laughing, ”Haha, we’ve succeeded!”

Even though the pill had some issues and wasn’t as high-quality as low-grade spirit pills, it was undeniable that they had truly refined a furnace of spirit pills.

It’s fine to be missing a rune; they can engrave the second rune just as they’ve done the first.

The presence of a bit of fire toxicity isn’t a problem; adjusting the true fire during alchemy will take care of it.

Wang Mingzhe’s shoulder was numb with pain from the patting but still grinned widely.

”Master, you’re amazing! You actually managed to refine these spirit pills!”

Yang Zhenshan chuckled, ”Actually, this mostly owes credit to the Soul-attaching Pill! I speculated before that the Soul-attaching Pill’s recipe was indeed for low-grade attribute spirit pills, and now it’s confirmed.”

Don’t be fooled into thinking that after countless failures, it looked insurmountable.

In truth, they took shortcuts, using the Soul-attaching Pill’s recipe for constant trials, thus succeeding in refining spirit pills.

If they hadn’t had the Soul-attaching Pill’s recipe, even failing thousands of times wouldn’t guarantee success.

But speaking again, the first step is challenging, and taking it means Yang Zhenshan can try refining various spirit pills.

High-grade spirit pills might be impossible, but those low-grade single-attribute spirit pills, yes, he could attempt to refine them.

In the ensuing time, Yang Zhenshan continued experimenting with Wang Mingzhe.

While they researched alchemy, others in the Spirit Source Land weren’t idle either.

Yang Zhenshan and Wang Mingzhe handled alchemy research, Yang Chengze led the Secret Skill Pavilion’s others in testing various rune functions, and Liang Jinyan and Yang Chengzhen were responsible for artifact refining research.

A month after Yang Zhenshan and Wang Mingzhe successfully refined Ice Spirit Pills, Liang Jinyan and Yang Chengzhen found Yang Zhenshan with a long knife in hand.

”Dad, take a look at this knife!”

The two handed the gleaming long knife to Yang Zhenshan expectantly.

Yang Zhenshan took the knife and examined it carefully.

The style of the knife wasn’t the focus; the runes on it were where the attention lied.

On the blade, faint traces of runes were barely visible at first glance.

Yang Zhenshan waved the long knife a few times, contemplating, then said, ”How many runes are on this?”

”Three runes!” Liang Jinyan quickly replied.

”Something seems amiss,” Yang Zhenshan stroked his beard, saying.
