Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 42: Chapter 41 Chicken Soup Chapter 42: Chapter 41 Chicken Soup After checking the stone pool space and finding no changes today, Yang Zhenshan took a pot of Spiritual Spring Water and turned to leave the room to boil water.

Before the water had even boiled, he heard a clamor from the courtyard.

“Dad, Dad~~”

Yang Mingzhi ran into the hall while calling out.

“What’s the matter?” Yang Zhenshan did not bother to lift his head and kept looking at his water.

“Dad, I’ve become a Martial Artist!” Yang Mingzhi stood in front of him, putting on a look that begged for compliments.

However, Yang Zhenshan merely glanced at him and just uttered two words.

“Not bad!”

“…”

Yang Mingzhi looked at him dumbfounded.

Not bad!

Just two words?

So perfunctory?

“Dad, I’ve become a Martial Artist!” Yang Mingzhi felt that Yang Zhenshan might not have understood and repeated himself.

Yang Zhenshan waved his hand impatiently and said, “I know! Now that you are a Martial Artist, you mustn’t slack off, strive harder in your cultivation from now on!”

Is it a happy occasion for Yang Mingzhi to become a Martial Artist?

Of course, it is.

But here comes the issue, the Yang family already has two Martial Artists, and Yang Family Village even has four.

When Yang Mingcheng first became a Martial Artist, he was hailed as the top among the young generation of the Yang Family, so both Yang Zhengxiang and the ordinary clan members were extremely happy and celebrated wildly.

Next was Yang Mingwu. When Yang Mingwu became a Martial Artist, the reaction within the family was quite subdued, first because the Hu Clan had invaded, and everyone was not in the mood to celebrate. Secondly, with Yang Mingcheng before him, Yang Mingwu becoming a Martial Artist seemed less significant.

Now it was Yang Mingzhi’s turn, and that mattered even less.

It’s not quite right to say it didn’t matter, but as the Yang Family gained more and more Martial Artists, someone becoming a Martial Artist became increasingly ordinary.

That’s within the family; however, in Yang Zhenshan’s eyes Yang Mingzhi becoming a Martial Artist was expected.

Yang Mingzhi drank diluted Spiritual Spring Water every day, and sometimes Yang Zhenshan even brewed tea for him with normal Spiritual Spring Water; if he still couldn’t become a Martial Artist, then he might as well not practice martial arts at all.

So Yang Zhenshan felt no surprise at Yang Mingzhi becoming a Martial Artist.

But Yang Mingzhi still looked crestfallen and said, “Dad, aren’t you happy that I became a Martial Artist?”

“Happy, of course! When did I say I wasn’t happy?” Yang Zhenshan raised his head, puzzled.

“But, but, your reaction is so indifferent!” Yang Mingzhi felt neglected.

Seeing his pitiful state, Yang Zhenshan helplessly shook his head.

Alright.

Of the three Yang brothers, only his pitiful look wasn’t irksome.

If Yang Mingcheng or Yang Minghao made such faces, he would definitely slap them.

There was no helping it; Yang Mingzhi was the best-looking among the brothers.

“Dad has confidence in you and believes you will definitely become a Martial Artist!”

“Not only that, Dad also believes you will become a Postnatal Martial Artist, becoming an even stronger Martial Artist!”

Yang Zhenshan reassuringly said.

“Really!” Yang Mingzhi’s eyes shone brightly.

“Of course, as long as you persist in hard training, Dad believes you will become a world-renowned powerful fighter!”

Yang Zhenshan unabashedly ladled out the motivational speech to Yang Mingzhi.

He didn’t care if this motivational speech was poisonous, just pour it out first.

Yang Mingzhi wasn’t like those people from his previous life who were tortured by toxic motivational speeches, nearly devoid of any immunity.

So when Yang Zhenshan expressed these expectant and weighty words, Yang Mingzhi’s spirit soared as if injected with adrenaline.

“Dad, don’t worry, I will definitely become a world-renowned powerful fighter!”

Yang Mingzhi, usually sharp, was floating on cloud nine.

He walked as if his head was heavy and his feet were light, all airy and buoyant.

But once he picked up the spear, he was grounded again.

But why did he choose to practice spear in the courtyard?

Now, except for Yang Yunxue training in the courtyard with Ms. Wang, Ms. Li, and Wang Yunqiao using the spear, everyone else went to the training ground behind the mountain.

Watching Yang Mingzhi practice the spear, everyone in the family was baffled.

Yang Zhenshan’s lips curled up slightly.

It seems that the chicken soup was delicious!

He should feed them more of it in the future.

After finishing a set of Spear Technique, the fervor in his heart finally calmed down a bit.

The water Yang Zhenshan had put on was just boiling; he brewed some tea and called everyone over to drink.

Now with more Spiritual Spring Water, Yang Zhenshan was less stingy than before.

Not just for the three brothers of Yang Mingcheng, but also for Ms. Wang, Ms. Li, Lin Zhan, and others to have a cup of tea.

Of course, Yang Zhenshan wouldn’t say what good the tea brought; he just asked them to try if it was delicious.

“Grandpa, I want more!” His eldest grandson, Yang Chengye, after finishing a cup, smacked his lips and lifted his cup for more.

The tea had the fragrance of tea leaves and the sweetness of the spring water, making a delightful taste that naturally children loved to drink.

“Little children shouldn’t drink too much tea, or else they won’t be able to sleep.”

Yang Zhenshan gently touched the little fellow’s head and kindly smiled, “Grandpa will give you candy instead!”

Saying this, he took a piece of malt candy from the basket nearby and stuffed it into his eldest grandson’s mouth.

His grandson, after getting a taste of the sweetness, forgot about the tea and a joyful smile crossed his little face.

Yang Zhenshan was fair, what the eldest grandson got, the second grandson and the eldest granddaughter got as well, and even the little Wang Mingzhe wasn’t left out.

While Ms. Wang and the others cooked, Yang Zhenshan had Yang Yunxue take the babies into his room to secretly feed them Spiritual Spring Water.

The little ones couldn’t drink much, a few spoonfuls were enough.

“Grandpa, it tastes good! I want to drink more!”

Yang Chengmao, at a year and a half, already spoke very clearly.

The little guy was chubby like a dumpling, and very active; if not watched carefully, he would waddle off somewhere with his short legs.

While Yang Qingwan and Wang Mingzhe still couldn’t walk, they were crawling all over the place.

Now, it was much more tiresome to watch them.

Yang Zhenshan found it a bit overwhelming to care for them all by himself.

“The rest is all yours!” Yang Zhenshan gave all the water left in the tea bowl to Yang Chengmao.

Yang Chengmao held the bowl and drank all with gulp after gulp.

“Grandpa, hug!”

Yang Zhenshan was a bit speechless; this little one was awfully clingy.

“Go and play with your brother!”

He still needed to watch over the two little ones on the Kang bed, ensuring they didn’t crawl off the edge; he could not keep holding Yang Chengmao all the time.

Thank goodness for the many people in the family; otherwise, watching over the children would be a hassle.

“Brother, let’s go and play!” Yang Chengye, now sensible, realizing Yang Zhenshan couldn’t manage alone, quickly took his brother outside.

The two little ones squatted in a corner of the yard and started digging an anthill.

With spring in bloom, ants finally could breathe some fresh air, but just as they emerged, they fell prey to the little hands of mischief.

Yang Zhenshan silently mourned for the ants for a second, then holding one chubby baby in each arm, sat on the Kang bed, playing with them.

Actually, he didn’t watch the children often; most of the time, it was Yang Yunxue, Lin Zhan, and Wang Yunqiao – the three older children who took care of them.

He occasionally took care of them to bond with the children.

After all, he was a grandfather, not a nanny.
