Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 5: Chapter 4: If we encounter a big beast, Dad will run faster than you. Chapter 5: Chapter 4: If we encounter a big beast, Dad will run faster than you. When he got home, the sky had already turned dark.

Yang Mingcheng moved the grains he had bought into the grain storehouse, and Yang Zhenshan gave the pork, pork bones, and condiments to Ms. Wang.

“Dad, why did you buy so much meat?” Ms. Wang looked at the pork and couldn’t help but swallow her saliva.

“Make it delicious!” Yang Zhenshan didn’t explain further, just said it indifferently.

There was no way to explain it. He couldn’t just say he wasn’t used to living in poverty.

“Okay.” Ms. Wang said cheerfully.

In fact, she didn’t care what had gotten into Yang Zhenshan, she just wanted to eat meat.

Ms. Wang also had some cooking skills. With the condiments and pork, she quickly prepared a table full of dishes.

Pork stewed with cabbage.

Alright, a table full of dishes was just a big pot of pork stewed with cabbage.

The family looked at the pork stewed with cabbage on the table, their eyes fixed.

But respecting the authority of Yang Zhenshan, the head of the family, they just stared without reaching for their chopsticks.

“Dad, you serve the food!”

Ms. Wang couldn’t hold back anymore, although the oil stains around her and her eldest grandson’s mouths had already exposed that they had sneaked some food earlier, but this still didn’t stop them from wanting more.

Yang Zhenshan looked around, then brought out the pork buns.

He had bought twenty pork buns, gave five to Yang Minghao, leaving fifteen.

Now there were nine people at home, excluding the three-month-old granddaughter Yang Qingwan, that was eight.

Yang Zhenshan thought for a moment, gave his eldest grandson three, his second grandson three, and his little daughter three.

“Thank you, Grandpa! Grandpa is the best!” The eldest grandson was the sweetest.

Mrs. Li from the Li family saw the pork buns in front of her, her eyes shining brightly, “Quick, thank your Grandpa!”

Yang Chengmao, the second grandson, was just one year old and not very articulate, “Thank, Grandpa!”

The little guy, smelling the meat, although thanking his grandpa with his words, his eyes never left the meat buns in front of him.

“Dad, you’re so good!” The little daughter said adorably.

Yang Zhenshan slightly curved the corners of his mouth, gave one bun each to his oldest son, second son, Ms. Wang, and Mrs. Li, keeping two for himself.

As for the pork stewed with cabbage, Yang Zhenshan also doled out a large bowl to everyone.

“Let’s eat!”

The buns tasted very good, the naturally made pork buns were especially fragrant.

The pork stewed with cabbage was also good. After a day in this world, Yang Zhenshan finally had a satisfying meal.

…

In a blink of an eye, five days had passed.

During these five days, there was meat in almost every meal at the Yang family’s house, though not a lot, but at least Yang Zhenshan could barely eat it.

Ms. Wang might have had some small thoughts, always looking after her own small family, but she still put in some effort for the whole household.

With meat to eat, the atmosphere at home brightened significantly. Yang Chengye and Yang Chengmao, the two little ones, became more lively, playing wildly in the courtyard all day, and little daughter Yang Yunxue’s spear technique also improved significantly.

Relationships grow through interactions, and in three days, Yang Zhenshan integrated into this family and accepted these family members.

During these three days, the Spiritual Spring produced a bowl of Spiritual Spring Water daily, which healed the internal injuries Yang Zhenshan had quite well, now he could practice his spear technique without stopping halfway.

According to the memories of his original body, he had now regained the strength of a Martial Artist.

The levels in the Martial Artist Realm are Body Refining Realm, Postnatal Realm, and Innate Realm.

The Body Refining Realm is divided into three stages: Refining Power, Changing Tendons, and Harnessing Strength.

Martial practitioners have to repeatedly practice various fundamental cultivation techniques, gradually replacing the clumsy power in their bodies with robust force, a process called ‘Refining Power’.

Simply put, Refining Power allows for more rational use of the body’s strength.

Now, Yang Zhenshan was at the stage of Refining Power, with each punch and palm brimming with robust force.

With his internal injuries healed, Yang Zhenshan also started thinking about making a fortune.

He didn’t have much money left, and the pork and pork bones previously bought were nearly finished. If he couldn’t find a way to make money, this household would return to those days without a trace of oil.

As for how to make money, Yang Zhenshan had already figured it out.

Just as the saying goes, rely on the mountains when you live near them, and rely on the waters when you live near them, Yang Family Village is backed by Changqing Mountain which is home to numerous fierce birds and beasts. If one could hunt one or two beasts, it would suffice for the household expenses for a while.

If it were before, Yang Zhenshan definitely wouldn’t have thought of this, after all, fierce beasts are not easy to handle, but now he is a Martial Artist. As long as he is careful, there should be no danger.

At lunch, Yang Zhenshan said to Ms. Wang: “Prepare some dry food this afternoon, I plan to go into the mountains for two days tomorrow!”

As soon as he said this, everyone around the table, who had been busily eating, looked up at him with faces full of astonishment.

“Dad, it’s very dangerous in the mountains,” his eldest son, Yang Mingcheng, said worriedly.

“I know,” Yang Zhenshan said indifferently.

“I’ll go with Dad!”

Yang Mingcheng did not know what Yang Zhenshan intended to do in the mountains, but he thought it would be better to accompany him than to let Yang Zhenshan go alone; at least they could look out for each other.

“It’s better for me to go with Dad, and my big brother to take care of the house!” the usually quiet Yang Mingzhi said.

Ms. Li secretly tugged at the corner of Yang Mingzhi’s clothes; she didn’t want her man venturing into the mountains.

There aren’t many wild beasts on the hills behind Yang Family Village, but since Yang Zhenshan mentioned staying in the mountains for a few days, it was clear that he was not planning to stay behind the village but to venture deeper into the forest.

Yang Family Village does not have many hunters, but many of the villages to the west do have hunters, and there have often been hunters who enter the mountains and never return. Such news has frequently reached Yang Family Village.

“It’s okay, my Martial Arts skills are not much worse than my elder brother’s!” Yang Mingzhi reassured Ms. Li.

Yang Zhenshan looked at his eldest son, then at his second son; both are good and obedient sons.

“Second son will go with me.”

Thinking he indeed needed some help, Yang Zhenshan decided to take Yang Mingzhi into the mountains.

…

The next morning.

After breakfast, Yang Zhenshan, carrying two Short Spears, took Yang Mingzhi into the mountains.

The undergrowth in the mountains was thick, making it inconvenient to use long spears, so Yang Zhenshan deliberately brought two wooden pole Short Spears and also carried a machete.

Yang Mingzhi also brought a machete, as well as pancakes, water bag, and fire stick among other necessities.

The two did not enter the mountains from the hills behind Yang Family Village but walked west for an hour before entering the forest.

After entering the forest, Yang Mingzhi became tense, his eyes vigilantly watching the surroundings and occasionally looking back, afraid of some beast attacking them from behind.

Seeing his overly cautious demeanor made Yang Zhenshan somewhat tired.

“There is no danger here!” Yang Zhenshan finally said, unable to bear it any longer.

Being too nervous is not good; it consumes a great deal of mental and emotional energy, and if Yang Mingzhi continues this way, it wouldn’t be long before he would start feeling weary.

“Dad, I heard there are tigers in these mountains, we won’t encounter one, will we?” Yang Mingzhi’s head swung like a pendulum, continuously scanning the surroundings.

“Don’t worry, if we encounter a tiger, Dad will run faster than you,” Yang Zhenshan said.

“…”

Yang Mingzhi looked at him with a look of disbelief.

You are my own dad!

How could you leave me and run away alone?

Seeing his reaction, Yang Zhenshan’s eyes twinkled with a faint smile.

“Alright, this area is close to the Jiang Family Village, where there are many hunters.”

Though he isn’t a hunter, he is quite familiar with this part of the forest which is near Jiang Family Village, it is safe with no large wild animals or poisonous snakes.

Relieved by his words, Yang Mingzhi finally calmed down, but he couldn’t help asking, “Dad, what are we doing in the mountains?”

However, his relief was short-lived as Yang Zhenshan said, “Didn’t you say there are tigers in this forest? We are here to hunt that tiger.”

“What!” Yang Mingzhi was stunned.

Though he is a young adult, in the end, he is only a seventeen-year-old boy.

“Alright, your dad won’t really leave you behind. If we encounter a tiger, you can run first!” While saying this, Yang Zhenshan continued walking deeper into the mountain.

Yang Mingzhi stood still for a moment before snapping back to reality and hurriedly followed closely behind his father.

The two walked slowly, and around noon, they stopped to rest for a while; in the afternoon, they continued to go deeper into the forest.

On the first day in the forest, they just hurried along.

At night, they rested under a cliff, and the next day Yang Zhenshan started to track wild animals.

He didn’t intend to hunt a tiger; although he now had the strength of a Martial Artist, a tiger is still the king of the beasts, and he would not risk his life recklessly going up against a tiger.
