Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 13: Chapter 12 Yang Family Village Yang Zhenshan Chapter 13: Chapter 12 Yang Family Village Yang Zhenshan As Yang Zhenshan stepped out of the main house, he heard a scream and saw someone falling from the top of the wall.

“Big brother!” Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but exclaim.

The person who fell from the wall was Jiang Cheng’s eldest son.

Seeing his own son injured, Jiang Cheng’s originally calm heart immediately turned into chaos, and the others also started panicking.

Seeing this, Yang Zhenshan quickly shouted, “Don’t panic, Jiang He, you take people to guard the back, I’ll handle the front gate myself!”

He wasn’t familiar with the others, only Jiang He, his son-in-law, was well-known to him.

The Jiang family’s courtyard was much better than the Yang family’s, with houses made of blue bricks and large tiles, and the courtyard wall was seven feet high made of brick; such a yard still had some defensive capabilities, even setting it on fire would require some effort.

“Everyone, come here!” Upon receiving the order, Jiang He immediately gathered everyone at the back.

“Don’t show your heads, just ignore them unless they climb in!” Yang Zhenshan instructed again.

The bandits outside were fierce, among them were those skilled in archery, rashly showing one’s head could likely turn them into arrow targets.

“There’s someone here!”

While Yang Zhenshan was making arrangements, the bandits’ voices also sounded from outside the gate.

The noise grew louder and in just a moment, someone hit the door.

The Jiang family’s door could not withstand the bandits’ banging, and after four or five strikes, the door collapsed with a thunderous crash.

At the moment the door fell down, Yang Zhenshan fiercely threw the short spear in his hand.

With a swoosh, the short spear flew out with a piercing whoosh.

The bandit standing at the forefront, caught off guard, was directly pierced through the chest by the short spear.

The short spear, after piercing through one person, did not stop and continued into another bandit.

“Charge in!”

The brutal bandits didn’t care about their injured companions and surged in through the gate.

The Jiang family’s gate wasn’t wide, less than two meters, but wide enough to allow four people to enter at once.

Facing the rushing bandits, Yang Zhenshan was not afraid, continuously shooting the short spear, its force far beyond arrows, hitting someone would send them flying.

In a breath’s time, Yang Zhenshan had thrown three short spears, but still couldn’t stop all the bandits.

There was no time to throw another short spear, Yang Zhenshan kicked the iron spear in front of him.

The iron spear bounced up, he grabbed the spear shaft, and slammed it down with brutal force.

With a bang, the leading bandit was smashed down to the ground.

Although these bandits were fierce, none were Martial Artists; compared to Yang Zhenshan, they were far inferior.

“Martial Artist, Martial Artist~~”

At this time, the bandits outside also reacted, realizing there was a Martial Artist inside.

For a moment, the fierce bandits retreated, not daring to charge in again.

At the gate, six bandits lay, some already breathless, others still painfully moaning.

“Quick, go call the boss, there’s a Martial Artist here!”

A clamor arose outside, Yang Zhenshan looked at the now empty gate, his expression turning grave.

Scarred Liu is coming!

He didn’t know if Scarred Liu was a Martial Artist, but to be the leader of a gang of fierce bandits, Scarred Liu was certainly not an ordinary person.

And listening to the bandits outside, Scarred Liu was highly likely a Martial Artist.

Yang Zhenshan took a deep breath; this was his first time facing a Martial Artist, and he was quite nervous.

As for rushing out, Yang Zhenshan had no intention to do so.

Within the courtyard, he only needed to guard the entrance, but once out, he would face a large number of bandits and also have to be wary of covert attacks.

Time passed by seconds, with nobody inside the courtyard daring even to breathe heavily, the atmosphere was extremely tense.

Yang Zhenshan’s arrival had given them a significant boost, but facing the fierce bandit leader, their hearts were filled with worry.

If Yang Zhenshan couldn’t defeat the enemy, they had only one path—death.

Faced with such a situation, they dared not relax for a moment.

After about half a quarter of an hour, noisy footsteps sounded outside again, followed by a large figure appearing at the door, it was Scarred Liu.

Scarred Liu looked at Yang Zhenshan in the courtyard with a fierce smile and eyes full of extreme viciousness.

“Yang Family Village!”

“Yes, Yang Zhenshan of Yang Family Village!” Yang Zhenshan had no intention to hide, nor was there a need to.

In the surrounding ten miles, only Yang Family Village had a Martial Artist; just asking around a bit would reveal it was him.

As for passing Martial Artists, this place was neither near the main road nor near the county town; how idle would a Martial Artist have to be to come here.

“Haha, interesting!” Scarred Liu swung his broadsword directly at Yang Zhenshan, laughing somewhat crazily.

The next moment, he crossed his feet and strode boldly into the doorway.

Stepping forward, swinging the broadsword, the heavy blade, driven by the force of running, chopped down heavily.

This slash was extremely ferocious; if it struck, even mountains and rocks would be split apart.

Yang Zhenshan’s eyes narrowed slightly as he gripped the iron spear tightly in his hands.

The core of the Yang Family Spear Technique was to fight with the resolve to win at all costs, every strike a potential kill shot, using every movement to its fullest without sparing any effort.

This meant that Yang Zhenshan had only one chance to strike.

If the first strike proved ineffective, he could only abandon the long spear to preserve his own life.

Without a moment to think further, as if by instinct, his long spear thrust forward with a sharp sound of tearing through the air.

This spear strike was swift to the extreme, the white gleam of the spear turning into a stream of light, directly stabbing towards the chest of Scarred Liu.

The mad Scarred Liu saw the sharp edge close at hand, and his ferocious smile suddenly froze.

Too fast!

The spear gleam reached him before he could even react.

This left him utterly shocked.

To tell the truth, he hadn’t initially taken Yang Zhenshan too seriously.

Although he was also a martial artist of the Refining Power realm, he had been through countless life-and-death battles.

Compared to other martial artists at the same level, he was almost invincible.

Moreover, he had given his all in this slash, holding nothing back.

Caught off guard, Scarred Liu instinctively dodged to avoid the spear gleam.

But his evasion turned into his biggest opening; as his body turned, the direction of the long knife in his hands naturally changed, which was exactly what Yang Zhenshan was waiting for.

With a plop, the white spearhead pierced into Scarred Liu’s shoulder.

He had avoided a lethal blow, but lost the battle.

Yang Zhenshan sneered coldly, withdrew his strength, and with a fierce twist of both hands on the pole, the flat spearhead was raised, instantly opening up Scarred Liu’s shoulder.

Blood splattered vividly, dripping from the shining spear edge.

Scarred Liu might be almost invincible among his peers, but the current Yang Zhenshan was not just a martial artist of the Refining Power level.

The Body Refining Realm is divided into three levels, but these levels aren’t strictly delineated.

Refining Power involves controlling bodily strength, while Refining Sinews involves stretching and strengthening the sinews and bones; these two aspects can coexist and aren’t strictly sequential.

Simply put, Refining Power and Refining Sinews are prerequisites of Refining Vigor; they can be practiced simultaneously, but since Refining Power is comparatively easier, most martial artists tend to first practice Refining Power and then move on to Refining Sinews.

Yang Zhenshan had already started on Refining Sinews. Although he hadn’t yet reached the level of Refining Sinews, because he had been drinking Spiritual Spring Water, his physique was already much stronger than a typical martial artist of the Refining Power level.

Scarred Liu was invincible among his peers because of his battle-hardened experiences, while Yang Zhenshan exceeded the Refining Power level because of his stronger physique.

Overwhelming strength can conquer all, no matter how rich your combat experience, if you can block this fast and fierce spear, then we can talk.

But Scarred Liu, fierce as he was, wasn’t fazed or panicked by his severe injury; instead, he let out a beast-like roar, raising his knife to cleave at Yang Zhenshan.

“Die!”

With a furious roar, bloodlust flared in his eyes.

Yang Zhenshan felt a sharp pain in his ears and hastily raised his long spear.

Clang~~

Blade and spear collided, sparking a shower of sparks.

“Such ferocity despite severe injuries!”

Yang Zhenshan was shocked, and as the blade struck, he was forced back several steps.

However, Scarred Liu persistently attacked, the blade whirling, his footsteps hammering like a tiger released from a cage, fierce and merciless.

In that instant, all the able-bodied men from the Jiang family inside the courtyard turned pale with fear.

Caught up in the moment, Yang Zhenshan couldn’t pay attention to anything else; as fierce as Scarred Liu’s attack was, his counterattack was just as vicious.

The long spear danced, sweeping across in a powerful strike.

A longer weapon has an advantage.

Before the blade could reach, the spear gleam had already struck at Scarred Liu’s side.

With a bang, Scarred Liu was sent flying like a tattered sack.

Strike while the enemy is sick, take his life.

Not giving Scarred Liu a chance to land and stabilize, an inch-long spear gleam stabbed directly at his waist, as swift as lightning.

Piercing through, the spearhead entered his belly and exited out the other side.

“Boss!” The bandits outside shouted tragically upon seeing this.

A group of bandits, frenzied, charged into the courtyard, ready to fight Yang Zhenshan to the death.

“Fire!”

Jiang He, who had been standing by the courtyard wall, quickly shouted.

The sound of whooshing arrows flew, but to little effect.

Although these hunters were skilled with the bow, they had never faced such a brutal scene before; they could only shoot arrows in panic and confusion.

Of the dozen or so bandits who rushed into the courtyard, only one fell to an arrow.
