Divine Level Witch Doctor

Lin Xue was also curiously sizing up her surroundings.

If you ignored the whole haunting business, the place was actually quite beautiful. The surroundings, in particular, were exceptionally serene and pleasant. Once the villa was renovated and flowers and trees were planted in the garden, it would truly become a Peach Blossom Spring in the middle of the bustling city.

After just a few glances, Lin Xue had already fallen in love with the place.

Liu Xiaoya, on the other hand, was filled with envy.

She had always dreamed of owning a house with a garden. And while she had made a small name for herself in the world of interior design, the money she earned was barely enough for the down payment on a small apartment, let alone a house with a garden.

Just like Lin Xue, she had fallen for the villa at first sight. But she was well aware that no matter how wonderful the place was or how much she loved it, it had nothing to do with her. She knew how astronomical the real estate prices were here; it was something she could never afford in her lifetime.

Liu Xiaoya couldn’t help but steal a few glances at Zhao Yuan, wondering to herself how someone so young could afford to buy this villa. ’Is he a second-generation heir? Or did he build his fortune from scratch? If it’s the latter, that’s just incredible!’

’Young, rich, and not bad-looking... He’s perfect boyfriend material. It’s a shame he already has a girlfriend, otherwise I might have tried to make a move...’

The thought popped into Liu Xiaoya’s head out of nowhere, making her blush with embarrassment.

’Liu Xiaoya, Liu Xiaoya, what on earth are you thinking? Have you no shame? Get to work and do your job!’

Taking a deep breath, Liu Xiaoya shook her head to clear it of distracting thoughts and got busy.

She started taking pictures with her phone while using her tools to survey the site and collect data. All of this would be essential for the detailed design work to come.

Just as Liu Xiaoya was surveying the data, Zhao Yuan suddenly felt a jolt.

The feeling of being watched, the same one from yesterday, had returned. This time, because Zhao Yuan had kept his Qi Observation Technique active, he spotted a very subtle fluctuation in the surrounding Qi.

He immediately called out to the Bone Woman, ”Three o’clock!”

Without a word, the Bone Woman shot off in pursuit toward the three o’clock position.

By this point, Liu Xiaoya had already gone inside the villa, leaving only Zhao Yuan and Lin Xue in the garden. So, instead of using the main gate, the Bone Woman vaulted over the three-meter-high white wall in a single leap and gave chase.

The instant the Bone Woman gave chase, both the feeling of being watched and the fluctuation in the Qi vanished completely.

Zhao Yuan’s brow twitched. ’It’s fast!’

A moment later, the Bone Woman returned, her expression grim as she shook her head at Zhao Yuan.

She had lost it again.

Yesterday had been unexpected, but today they were prepared. Even so, the Ghost had slipped away right under their noses. The Ghost’s true power was still unknown, but its ability to escape was certainly impressive.

”Zhao Yuan, was that the Ghost?” Lin Xue asked, her eyes wide as she nervously scanned the area, hoping to see what this legendary Ghost actually looked like.

Zhao Yuan nodded. ”It was spying on us from the shadows. It fled as soon as it was discovered. But don’t worry, I still have a Divine Skill up my sleeve. I’ll definitely be able to drag it out!”

”What Divine Skill?” Lin Xue asked, intrigued.

Zhao Yuan was about to answer when, at that very moment, Liu Xiaoya, who was busy surveying a room in the villa, let out a blood-curdling scream. ”A Ghost!”

”Oh no, could the Evil Ghost be attacking Sister Liu?” Lin Xue exclaimed in shock.

Zhao Yuan’s brow furrowed. He hadn’t detected the slightest trace of Ghost Qi inside the villa. ’If that’s the case, what did Liu Xiaoya run into?’

He pulled Lin Xue toward the villa. ”Let’s go inside and take a look. Bai Mei, you stay out here.”

The Bone Woman acknowledged the order and warily scanned the surroundings.

Zhao Yuan kept Lin Xue close to his side so he could protect her if anything unexpected happened.

The moment they stepped inside the villa, a bone-chilling cold washed over them, making them both shiver.

The scene before their eyes changed in an instant!

They saw vast quantities of blood seeping from the surrounding walls like a flash flood, covering the entire floor and turning it into a horrifying pool of blood!

At the same time, countless pale hands, reeking of rot and covered in nauseating corpse spots, began to rise from the pool of blood.

The hands swayed and clawed at the air, letting out a chorus of terrifying, shrill wails!

The scene was identical to the legendary Blood Pool Hell!

This was the scene that had terrified Liu Xiaoya.

She was screaming and jumping around frantically, trying to dodge the hands reaching up from the floor, terrified they would drag her down to Hell.

Lin Xue was terrified as well. Although she had mentally prepared herself, she was still frightened when faced with such a bizarre and horrifying situation.

”Don’t be afraid. It’s just an illusion,” Zhao Yuan said, gently placing a hand on her back as he recited the Purifying Heart Spell.

Under the effect of the Spell, Lin Xue’s heart instantly calmed, allowing her to break free from the Illusion Realm’s influence. The filthy blood and ghostly hands vanished completely, leaving only a bare, grey-primed room before her.

Liu Xiaoya, however, was still trapped in the Illusion Realm, screaming, stomping her feet, and trembling nonstop.

Zhao Yuan chanted louder so Liu Xiaoya could hear him. She gradually calmed down and finally broke free of the illusion. Zhao Yuan walked over to her, took out an Enchanting Talisman, and after hypnotizing her, said, ”What you just saw were hallucinations from being exhausted after staying up all night. It’s all over now. You won’t give this matter a second thought...”

After saying this, Zhao Yuan raised his hand and, with a SNAP, snapped his fingers.

Liu Xiaoya’s body shuddered, and she awoke from the hypnotic state.

”Sister Liu, are you okay?” Lin Xue asked with concern.

”Huh? Oh, I’m fine.”

Although Liu Xiaoya still retained the memory of what had just happened, Zhao Yuan’s hypnotic suggestion had her firmly convinced that what she saw was merely a hallucination caused by extreme fatigue.

This made her feel quite embarrassed. ”I’m so sorry,” she said. ”I must have been hallucinating from pulling an all-nighter. I’m really sorry if I scared you.”

Zhao Yuan said, ”Work is important, but you need to get some rest. A good work-life balance will help you do your job better.”

”Thanks for the reminder. I will,” Liu Xiaoya replied with a nod.

Zhao Yuan then said, ”You can continue your survey. Xiaoxue, you stay here and keep Miss Liu company.”

Then he leaned in and whispered in Lin Xue’s ear, ”You have the Protective Talisman and the Fearless Pearl I gave you. No matter what tricks that Ghost tries, it can’t hurt you. I’m going outside to see if I can drag it out!”
