Divine Level Witch Doctor

Zhao Yuan said with a cold laugh, ”The way I see it, this move of his is a complete blunder. He’s just hoisting a rock to drop on his own foot! I’ll take this chance to announce, in front of all these media outlets, how the Jinling Zhao Family slandered me! Dr. Wang, I’ll have to trouble you to act as my witness later.”

”No problem,” Wang Jiasen agreed with a nod, then added worriedly, ”I’m just afraid these reporters don’t have good intentions.”

”Are you afraid they’ve been bought by Zhao Dezhu and will twist the truth?” Yu Ke asked.

Wang Jiasen shook his head. ”They don’t necessarily have to turn black into white. All they need is some creative phrasing in their reporting, and that’ll be enough to steer public opinion in a direction unfavorable to us.”

”Then what do we do?” Yu Ke was immediately fraught with worry.

After a moment of deliberation, Ma Guotao said, ”It’s actually quite simple to handle. If Zhao Dezhu can bring in reporters, so can we! He wants to blow this up? Fine, we’ll grant him his wish! I refuse to believe he can hide the sky with one hand and buy off every single media outlet.”

”That’s a great idea.” Wang Jiasen’s eyes lit up. ”If more media outlets come, the few that Zhao Dezhu invited won’t be able to make any big waves. I happen to know a few friends at TV stations and newspapers. I’ll call them right now and ask them to send people over.”

Ma Guotao also pulled out his phone and started contacting his media friends. While on a call, he made sure to give an order, ”Chen Qiang, take the reporters who have arrived to the large conference room. Tell them there will be a press conference regarding this matter shortly!”

”Yes, sir!” Chen Qiang replied excitedly and immediately went to make arrangements.

Soon, the few reporters that Zhao Dezhu had called were led into the large conference room. While they waited, they watched as media outlets arrived one after another. Before long, reporters from dozens of media outlets had filled the large conference room.

”What’s going on?”

”Why are so many people here?”

The first few reporters were stunned by this development. Especially since among the new arrivals were reporters from provincial TV stations and provincial newspapers. These were the mouthpieces of the province! Reporters from fly-by-night media outlets like them were completely out of their league.

Surprised, these few reporters couldn’t help but go over to schmooze and ask curiously, ”Were you also invited by Zhao Dezhu?”

The other person glanced at them and said, ”Zhao Dezhu? Who’s Zhao Dezhu? We were invited by West Hua Medical University. We heard someone slandered one of their students, and slandered the school, causing a very negative impact. We’re here specifically to interview and report on it, to clear their name!”

”What?” These few reporters were stunned. ’So they’re foes, not friends!’

They knew their own limits. They knew they couldn’t compare in terms of status or influence, and they were far outnumbered. They quickly ran out of the conference room to call their bosses.

The people in charge at these media outlets were also shocked after hearing their reporters’ updates.

They had originally thought it was a small matter, but they never expected it to blow up into such a huge affair! Without a doubt, given the current situation, if they stuck to the original plan and helped the Jinling Zhao Family smear Zhao Yuan, they would become a public target!

Without hesitation, the media bosses changed their plans. They ordered their reporters to base all their reporting on facts, without any bias. For some unknown reason, none of them notified Zhao Dezhu about this.

A little over an hour later, the press conference began in the large conference room.

Several TV stations and websites on the scene even provided real-time news reports and online livestreams.

Coincidentally, one of the media outlets that Zhao Dezhu had brought was doing a livestream, and Zhao Dezhu, Zhao Jingrou, and the others had long been waiting in front of a computer to watch.

When Zhao Yuan appeared in the large conference room, following behind Ma Guotao and the others, Zhao Jingrou couldn’t help but let out a cold snort. Zhao Dezhu, however, furrowed his brow, sensing that something was wrong.

Suddenly, he saw a familiar figure appear behind Zhao Yuan and jumped up in shock. ”Wang Jiasen? Why is he with Zhao Yuan?”

Zhao Jingrou was also stunned.

”Traitor! That damned traitor!” Zhao Dezhu cursed, furious.

He never would have imagined that Wang Jiasen would actually go and testify for Zhao Yuan. He’d thought that even if Wang Jiasen didn’t take his side, he would never dare testify for Zhao Yuan. After all, given his own status and position, how could Wang Jiasen possibly dare to offend him? But reality had dealt him a harsh slap in the face.

The press conference went smoothly. Zhao Yuan spoke eloquently, recounting the entire sequence of events, with Wang Jiasen beside him, corroborating and adding details.

Because this matter had been a hot topic on the West Hua Medical University forums, many people in the medical community were paying attention to the livestream and news reports. After watching the livestream, they were in an uproar.

For a moment, the livestream was so flooded with bullet comments that they completely covered the screen.

”Holy crap, this is a huge plot twist!”

”Right? I can’t believe the fraud wasn’t Zhao Yuan, but the Jinling Zhao Family!”

”You’re only just realizing this? Didn’t you see the post on the forums by ’The Man Who Wants to Be a Witch Doctor’? After I read that post, I already believed Zhao Yuan had been framed.”

”And to think the Jinling Zhao Family is a medical Noble Family with a legacy of several hundred years! To do something so despicable!”

”The Jinling Zhao Family’s reputation is really in the gutter this time!”

”I’m more curious about this kid Zhao Yuan. Who is he, really? How did he get so many experts and scholars to back him up so strongly? This is just too incredible!”

Unlike the lively scene in the livestream chat, the hotel room where Zhao Dezhu and the others were staying was completely silent.

The atmosphere was extremely oppressive. The few Jinling Zhao Family members all shrank their necks and didn’t dare make a sound. Zhao Dezhu’s and Zhao Jingrou’s faces were as dark as the bottom of a pot.

Just as Zhao Dezhu was about to explode, Zhao Yuan’s powerful and resonant voice came from the computer.

”Here, in front of all our friends from the media, I issue a challenge to the Jinling Zhao Family!”

’A challenge?’

A vicious glint flashed in Zhao Dezhu’s eyes as he stared intently at the computer screen.

’What do you want to challenge?!’

A reporter on the scene asked the question on Zhao Dezhu’s behalf: ”Student Zhao Yuan, may I ask what you wish to challenge the Jinling Zhao Family in?”

Zhao Yuan said, enunciating every word, ”I’ve heard that the Jinling Zhao Family has Three Absolutes: first, the art of Pulse Diagnosis; second, the use of medicinal formulas; and third, the Dao of Acupuncture. What I want to challenge are these Three Absolutes! I just wonder if the Jinling Zhao Family has the guts to accept?”
