Divine Level Witch Doctor

”I thought you were just saying that to comfort me.” Lu Qing was pleasantly surprised, but also a little apprehensive. ”Will your medicine really work? I’ve consulted a few cosmetic surgeons, and they all said that scars from gunshot wounds are very difficult to remove.”

”Don’t worry, my medicine is absolutely effective!” Zhao Yuan was full of confidence.

Lu Qing thought of the Soul-Stabilizing Incense.

Recently, the Soul-Stabilizing Incense had become incredibly popular in Rongcheng City. It wasn’t just the rich and powerful; many ordinary people had also heard of its fame, and Lu Qing was no exception. Even her father had managed to get two sticks from a good friend for her to use. And it was true—after using the Soul-Stabilizing Incense, she felt not only that her emotions had calmed down considerably, but even the healing speed of her wound had quickened!

Others might not know, but she knew that the Soul-Stabilizing Incense was made by Zhao Yuan!

’Since the Soul-Stabilizing Incense made by Zhao Yuan had such miraculous effects, the medicine he made to remove scars must also be extraordinary!’

Lu Qing felt relieved and happy. She said with a chuckle, ”Well, thank you in advance, then.”

While the two were chatting, the middle-aged woman had been sizing up Zhao Yuan with a scrutinizing gaze. Now, she chimed in, ”Qingqing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this friend of yours before. Why don’t you introduce us?”

”Ah, I almost forgot.” Lu Qing stuck her tongue out playfully.

Zhao Yuan was taken aback for a moment. He truly hadn’t expected this heroic female police officer to have such a cute and playful side.

Lu Qing made the introduction. ”Mom, this is Zhao Yuan. He’s the one who helped me capture the drug traffickers and saved my life. Zhao Yuan, this is my mother.”

”It’s nice to meet you, ma’am,” Zhao Yuan greeted politely.

Mrs. Lu was very pleased and said with a chuckle, ”Hello, hello. So you’re Zhao Yuan! I’ve been wanting to thank you for saving our Qingqing, and today I finally get my wish.”

”You’re too kind, ma’am.” Zhao Yuan refused to take the credit, waving his hands repeatedly.

Mrs. Lu seemed to take a real liking to Zhao Yuan. She pulled him aside and peppered him with questions, almost like a background check, which made Zhao Yuan quite uncomfortable. He quickly found an excuse, saying, ”You all go ahead and pack up. I’m going to the pharmacy to prepare Officer Lu’s medicine.”

Xian Hong said, ”I’ll go with you.”

Zhao Yuan politely declined. ”No need. You should stay here. In case Officer Lu and her mother need help with anything, you’ll be here to lend a hand.”

It wasn’t like he was actually going to the pharmacy. The ingredients for the Blood Circulation Soup were all in his Storage Ring. He was just looking for an excuse to step out so he could retrieve them. If he really conjured a large pile of medicinal herbs out of thin air in front of everyone, it would be a miracle if he didn’t scare them to death!

Xian Hong nodded and stayed in the hospital room, helping Lu Qing pack the things she had brought during her stay. Then he carried them downstairs and put them in his Jetta.

With both Zhao Yuan and Xian Hong out of the room, Lu Qing complained to her mother, ”Mom, what was that all about just now? You made things so awkward for him, pulling him aside and asking all those questions.”

Mrs. Lu shot her a look and said, ”What’s there to be awkward about? You finally have a male friend around your own age, of course I have to find out more about him. Look at you—you have the looks, you have the figure, so how come you can’t find a boyfriend? In my opinion, it has to do with your job. Why did you have to become a narcotics officer? Never mind that it’s dangerous, people will think you’re a tomboy. How many men do you think would dare to date a woman like you?”

Lu Qing gave a wry smile. ”Mom, there you go again. I became a narcotics officer to fulfill Dad’s wish and carry on his unfinished duty. As for finding a boyfriend, I’m not in a hurry, so why are you? It’s not like you’re the one looking.”

Mrs. Lu said unhappily, ”Oh, so you’ve gotten bold now, have you? Daring to talk to your mother like that? I’m only anxious for your sake! Besides, I don’t want you to follow in your father’s footsteps.”

”Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll be careful. Besides, when it comes to skills, I’m much better than Dad was,” Lu Qing said, quickly trying to comfort her mother when she saw tears welling up in her eyes.

Mrs. Lu sighed. ”You and your father are both just as stubborn. I can’t convince either of you, and I can’t be bothered to try anymore. I just have one little wish: for you to hurry up and find a boyfriend, get married, and give me a grandchild. Once I have a grandchild to look after, I won’t bother you anymore.”

”Mom, there you go again. I told you, I’m not thinking about my personal life right now,” Lu Qing said with a wry smile.

Mrs. Lu’s brow twitched as she scolded, ”If not now, then when? No one will want you when you’re old and gray!” Suddenly, she changed the subject. ”I think that Xiaozhao from just now is very nice. He’s good-looking, polite, and a student at a top university...”

Mrs. Lu beamed as she started praising Zhao Yuan, looking every bit the part of a mother-in-law growing fonder of her prospective son-in-law the more she looked at him.

Lu Qing’s face flushed red, and she quickly cut her mother off. ”Mom, what nonsense are you talking about? Zhao Yuan is younger than me!”

”So what if he’s younger? There’s an old saying: a wife three years older will bring you a brick of gold! Qingqing, I really think Xiaozhao is a great catch. You have to seize this opportunity,” Mrs. Lu lectured earnestly.

Lu Qing smiled wryly. ”Stop! Stop! Stop! Mom, it’s fine if you say these things in front of me, but please don’t say them again when Chief Xian and Zhao Yuan come back. Even if you’re not embarrassed, I am!”

”What’s there to be embarrassed about? He’s single, you’re single, isn’t it perfect?” Although Mrs. Lu said this, she still heeded her daughter’s request. When Xian Hong and Zhao Yuan returned to the room, she really didn’t bring up the matter again.

Zhao Yuan handed the bags of medicine to Lu Qing and said, ”Officer Lu, here are ten doses of medicine. The instructions are simple: just dissolve them in hot water and take a bath. If you don’t have a bathtub at home, you can also apply the medicinal water to the wound, but the effect will definitely be much weaker than bathing. By the time you finish all ten doses, your scar should be almost gone. If it hasn’t completely disappeared, just give me a call, and I’ll give you some more.”

”Thank you.” After taking the ten doses of Blood Circulation Soup ingredients, Lu Qing asked, ”How much is it? Let me pay you.”

Zhao Yuan waved his hand. ”Officer Lu, come on, don’t say that! I’m giving you this medicine because I consider you a friend. I wouldn’t give it to anyone else, no matter how much they offered.”

Lu Qing was a little touched. She nodded and said, ”Alright, we won’t talk about money.”

Seeing this, Mrs. Lu grew even fonder of Zhao Yuan. She said with a smile, ”Even if we’re not paying, we still have to show our gratitude. How about this: have dinner at our place tonight. Chief Xian, you have to come too. Old Lu has been wanting to get together with his old colleagues for a long time and have a few drinks.”

”Of course! Since Sister-in-law has invited me, I can’t possibly refuse!” Xian Hong readily agreed.

After a moment’s hesitation, Zhao Yuan also nodded and agreed.

Mrs. Lu was absolutely delighted. She chuckled and said, ”That’s wonderful! I’ll go grocery shopping in a bit and make some of my specialties for you tonight! Also, you probably don’t know this, but our Qingqing is a great cook, too. We’ll have her show off a little tonight!”

Her intentions were way too obvious. Mortified, Lu Qing quickly reached out and tugged on her mom’s sleeve, afraid she would say something even more shocking.
