BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Roar!

Countless souls howled madly, surging like a locust storm across the sky. Their frenzied will devoured everything that could still be considered living within this space — man or beast, none were spared.

For years, the Hall of Souls had captured souls, bound them, and drained their Soul Essence. The hatred born from such cruelty was unimaginable. Now, Liu Xi had simply ignited that long-suppressed fury, and the consequence was utter vengeance.

Those once-enslaved souls became pure instruments of wrath. With no weapons, they clawed, bit, and tore at their captors; when that failed, they burned their very essence to attack. The Hall of Souls had often forced them to devour one another in exchange for strength — now the devoured had become the devourers.

Those who toy with souls will one day be consumed by them.

Even many who had nothing to do with it suffered disaster — including several of the 10-plus Dou Zuns who had followed Xiao Yan. Most were slain, their souls destined to be seized by the Hall of Souls. But instead, they too became prey for the raging tide of souls, ripped apart and utterly consumed.

When there was no one else left to kill, tens of thousands of those wrathful souls turned as one toward the First Tianzun. Countless eyes — wild, deranged, seething with hatred — locked on him, and even his powerful heart trembled.

This wasn’t a handful of stares. It was tens of thousands — each one the gaze of a tortured soul whose agony and rage had yet to fade.

Roar!

They surged forward, fearless and relentless, their collective roar shaking heaven and earth. The tide of vengeful souls threw themselves upon the First Tianzun.

”Hmph! A pack of worthless remnants dares to bare their fangs at me? Today, I’ll suppress every last one of you! As for Xiao Yan… hmph!”

The First Tianzun’s voice echoed like thunder, filled with arrogant disdain. Black mist erupted from his body, his aura boiling as he charged headlong into the storm of souls, slaughtering as he went.

The souls were weak individually, but they were endless. Their burning essence made them formidable — something even the First Tianzun could feel pressing upon him.

At the edge of the chaos, a calm voice broke through the storm.

”Revenge should be taken this way — devour their flesh, drink their blood, consume their souls, and let them never rise again.”

Liu Xi stood there quietly, hands behind his back, his expression indifferent. ”I won’t wait for the ending. As for Gu You… consider him my spoils of war.”

His eyes lowered to the fallen figure before him — Gu You, unconscious, bones shattered, his aura barely flickering. Without emotion, Liu Xi extended his hand, his Spiritual Power invading Gu You’s body and crushing his heart veins.

The mighty Half Saint known as Gu You shuddered once, gave a faint groan, and died.

Expressionless, Liu Xi withdrew his hand, his gaze still calm and detached. He quietly picked up Gu You’s body and vanished from the chaotic space, leaving behind only the endless roar of souls and the desperate battle of the First Tianzun. No one would ever know that a silent outsider had come and gone.

Half a month later.

Holy Pill City, Ye Clan’s Secluded Courtyard.

The skies were clear, the wind gentle, and the sunlight warm. The tranquility of the day carried a deceptive peace.

Liu Xi stood alone in the courtyard, faint amusement touching his lips as he looked toward the distant horizon, eyes gleaming with quiet anticipation.

He had already sensed the return of his Yuan Spirit and knew well the outcome of this venture — the Soul Essence accumulated by the Tianhang Human Hall over decades, and the corpse of a high-level Half Saint: Gu You.

That Half Saint’s strength had been genuine. None of the peak Dou Zuns who fought him could be considered weak, yet all had been utterly crushed. Gu You’s power had been solid — no illusions about it.

Liu Xi had ignored the other Dou Zun corpses — too little value, too much risk. But taking Gu You had been worth the gamble. Risk and reward always walked hand in hand.

Among Half Saints, Gu You was formidable. His body alone was a treasure. Heavenly Demon Puppet Ah San had the potential of a Dou Saint — after enduring the Void Lightning Pool’s baptism, it could one day evolve into a true Dou Saint Heavenly Demon Puppet.

Gu You’s corpse was nearly at that level. If Liu Xi could find a 9th Rank Monster Core, he might refine it into another Dou Saint Heavenly Demon Puppet.

The false Dou Qi Continent says: below Dou Zong, all are ants.

The true Dou Qi Continent says: below Dou Saint, all are ants.

Liu Xi still didn’t dare confront the Ancient Clans directly — for they held power that could crush the entire continent. They had Dou Saints, and not just one or two — they existed in groups.

If he ever gained enough strength, he would storm their territories, seize every top-ten Heavenly Flame from the Heavenly Flame Ranking, take the Ancient Jade fragments, and enter the Ancient Emperor’s Cave Mansion himself.

Then, he would claim the embryonic Emperor Pill, seize the Flame Square, and attempt to ascend to Dou Di. Once he broke through, he’d open the path to the Great Thousand World. The Dou Qi Continent would be nothing but a cage to a man seeking godhood.

Hiss!

His mouth watered at the thought, but he quickly pulled himself back to reality. He was still merely a 9-Turn Dou Zun. If a Dou Saint from the Ancient Clans appeared, he’d be finished. Even against the weaker clans like the Shi Clan or Ling Clan, he’d have to run straight back to the Beast Region and cling to Zi Yan’s thigh for safety.

For now, it was best to move with the flow, seize every opportunity within reach, and strengthen himself until even the Ancient Clans had to take him seriously.

Like the once-mighty Pure Lotus Demon Saint and Yellow Spring Demon Saint — only powerhouses of that caliber had the right to compete with legends like Hun Tiandi and Gu Yuan for the chance to become Emperor.

As his thoughts wandered, a faint whoosh echoed. A blurred shadow slipped past Holy Pill City’s patrols and darted straight into the Ye Clan’s courtyard, crashing into Liu Xi.

A blood-stained corpse dropped to the ground — Gu You’s — still wrapped in tattered black robes. Liu Xi waved his hand, collecting the body into his storage ring.

Stretching lazily, he smiled faintly. ”The feeling of full Spiritual Power… truly satisfying. With the Soul Essence in hand, it won’t be long before I reach the Heaven Realm Soul. Then even a Dou Saint won’t be able to kill me easily.”

His gaze flickered as he thought of Gu You’s corpse. ”A high-level Half Saint… it deserves a 9th Rank Monster Core. Using an 8th Rank one would be a waste.”

He sighed, turning toward his room. ”But hunting a 9th Rank Magical Beast? Might as well kill me now. Still… it’s a pity to waste that body. I’ll keep it for now.”

Before entering, he paused and murmured, ”Xuan Yi is dead… I don’t know if Xuan Kongzi survived. Never thought they’d intervene personally. Yao Chen and Xiao Yan really do have a frightening pull — so many Dou Zuns willing to die for them.”

A faint smirk crossed his lips. ”The Pill Tower will be in chaos now. One Giant dead, another gravely injured, and the Hall of Souls furious beyond measure.”

He chuckled bitterly. ”Maybe I should just run off… cling to Zi Yan’s thigh for safety again.”

Liu Xi sighed helplessly. Who would’ve guessed Xuan Kongzi and Xuan Yi would be so stubborn? In the original history, they hadn’t even acted personally. But then again, with the Tianhang Human Hall’s strength, ordinary Dou Zuns wouldn’t have stood a chance anyway.
