Transmigration: The Evil Mother-In-Law Is Actually Innocent!

Chapter 1352: Chapter 1352: Intentions

Xue Han frowned and said, ”The children are too young, Rongchuan and I are not planning to take the children out of the capital, the Empress knows, and she wants to take the two children into the palace.”

Zhulan understood, ”You don’t want the two children to enter the palace?”

Xue Han worried, ”Mother, you know how father and mother dote on Lin Xi and Zeze, how can the Princes in the palace not have opinions? The Crown Prince and the fourth Prince don’t mind, because as legitimate children, they often meet father and mother, but the other Princes don’t show it on their faces, but they definitely dislike Lin Xi and Zeze in their hearts.”

”Are you afraid that Lin Xi and Zeze will be bullied?”

Xue Han, being a mother, was not afraid of anything else but her children being bullied, ”Well, they won’t be overtly bullied, but who knows if they might be tripped up behind their backs. Life in Qin Prince Residence is simple, and the two children have grown up doted upon, they are young and inevitably naive about people and things, I’m worried.”

Zhulan held her daughter’s hand, her daughter feared the two children would be bullied, and also feared that this entry into the palace would strip them of their innocence, her daughter didn’t want the children to face scheming and conspiracies too early.

Once the two children are sent to the palace, they are entering a vortex, even with the Empress’s good protection, she cannot cover all aspects, the intrigue among the women in the harem never stops.

Sometimes, the conflicts among the palace women are not out of true love for the Emperor, their strife is for their families, for their children.

Zhulan asked, ”What did Rongchuan say?”

”He said this might be the Emperor’s intention.”

Zhulan, ”And the Retired Emperor?”

Xue Han paused, she and Rongchuan were anxious, acting out of the instincts of parents, yet overlooked a lot, ”Mother, do you mean father also agrees?”

If he disagreed, he would not have remained silent.

Zhulan patted her daughter’s hand, ”It must have been suggested by the Retired Emperor, that’s why the Emperor and the Empress brought it up, the Empress’s quick agreement must also have her own motives.”

She continued after a pause, ”As you said, Qin Prince Residence is simple, but Lin Xi and Zeze are Royal descendants, they have lived carefree for many years, it’s time for them to grow up, this is the true intention of the Retired Emperor, you always couldn’t bring yourselves to be strict, the Retired Emperor is helping you.”

Of course, the Retired Emperor himself could not bring himself to teach them directly, thus he offloaded the responsibility to the Emperor and the Empress, placing them in the palace for a few months, out of sight, out of mind.

Xue Han bitterly smiled, ”Ever since becoming a mother, my heart has softened. Rongchuan and I hope that the children can be happy all their lives, to delay facing realities for as many years as possible, yet subconsciously neglecting that they are Royal descendants.”

”It’s not your fault, Rongchuan being raised among the common people, it’s normal to overlook, parents protecting their children is natural.”

Mainly because Qin Prince Residence is too simple, the couple also naturally overlooked, but the Retired Emperor has always been paying attention, this is also the treatment Rongchuan faces.

At the Academy, Chang Zhong flipped through the book, pushing away Wen Xiao who was blocking the light.

Wen Xiao staggered from the push, quickly stabilizing himself and came closer again, ”Your family also got the news, right?”

Chang Zhong knew he couldn’t read anymore, closed the book, ”What news?”

Wen Xiao, ”Don’t pretend, everyone basically knows, your family can’t possibly be unaware, so it’s you leaving the capital, right?”

Chang Zhong obviously knew, dad had already discussed it with him and Ming Rui, he didn’t care about this opportunity, especially since it indeed suited Ming Rui the most, he had his own plans.

Seeing Chang Zhong remaining silent, Wen Xiao confirmed it was Chang Zhong leaving, his tone carrying a hint of resentment, ”Our Wen Rong can’t go, why is it decided to be second wife’s Wen Qi? How am I inferior to Wen Qi?”

Chang Zhong thought to himself, even though he hadn’t met Wen Qi, judging by Wen Xiao’s character, his grandfather would also choose Wen Qi, ”Are you upset because you were not chosen, or because you weren’t given a chance to compete?”

Wen Xiao angrily sat down, ”Maybe both.”

After getting to know Chang Zhong better, Wen Xiao didn’t find him hard to get along with, just a spoiled child, in any case, he wouldn’t indulge Wen Xiao, ”Don’t complain to me, have the guts to talk to your grandfather.”

Wen Xiao snorted, ”Pretend I didn’t say anything?”

Everything good at home belongs to the first and second wives, and the third wife also has rightful heirs. Grandfather favors Wen Rong, and now Wen Qi, the more I think about it, the angrier I get and I kicked the table.

Seeing that Chang Xhong was ignoring him again, Wen Xiao raised his voice a lot, ”You, born with all resources, can’t understand me.”

Chang Xhong twitched his mouth, ”I never intended to understand you.”

Wen Xiao’s face darkened even more. Initially, he disliked Zhou Changzhong, but after spending more time together at the Academy, he found that Zhou Changzhong was the only one he could talk to. Those who flattered him he did not want to bother with, but those who ignored him, he thought about even more.

When school ended, Ming Rui came out first and waited for his uncle and Ming Hui among others, and immediately noticed the ’tail’ behind his uncle, already used to it.

When they reached the entrance of the Academy, Wen Xiao walked past everyone with his chin up.

Ming Hui was speechless, ”Hasn’t he had enough of playing after nearly two years?”

Chang Xhong, ”Don’t bother with him, he’s also holding a grudge!”

Ming Rui, ”When is he not holding a grudge?”

Ming Hui and Ming Jia exchanged looks and both brothers laughed, Chang Xhong couldn’t help but join in the laughter.

The next morning, Zhou Shuren attended the early court, and while waiting for the Emperor, Zhou Shuren and all the ministers looked at the sky, which was covered with dark clouds, discussing whether it might snow.

When the Emperor arrived, there were snowflakes on his head, clearly indicating it had started snowing outside, which finally improved the Emperor’s gloomy mood.

After all, it is nearly the end of the year, and there have only been a few light snowfalls.

The atmosphere in the early court today was very good, Prince Qi and others also attended the court, and after the court, Prince Qi and others stayed while Zhou Shuren left the palace with Rongchuan.

Zhou Shuren was curious, ”Why didn’t you stay today?”

Rongchuan, holding an umbrella for his father and standing in a spot sheltered from the wind, slightly bowed his head and said, ”Today the Emperor wanted to meet with Prince Qi and others, it has nothing to do with me.”

Zhou Shuren’s mind spun, ”Is it because of next year’s travel plans for the Crown Prince?”

Rongchuan nodded, ”Yes.”

He had different duties to perform and not the same path as the Crown Prince. Even if it had been the same path, the Emperor wouldn’t have allowed him to follow because of the fear that the Crown Prince might become dependent on him. It was different for Prince Qi and the others, who were not direct uncles; rather than dependence, there was more vigilance.

Zhou Shuren recalled his wife’s words from yesterday, ”It’s good for Lin Xi and Zeze to be sent to the palace.”

Rongchuan smiled, ”Xue Han told me about it when she returned. Indeed, I had overlooked it. I have already agreed.”

”Well, nevertheless, preparations should still be made in case they truly get bullied. Actually, reporting appropriately is permissible.”

Rongchuan laughed, ”I’ve noted.”

Like it wasn’t him who said those words just a moment ago, the old little man reached out his hand to catch the big goose-feather-like snowflakes, ”This snow is not light.”

Rongchuan said, ”Yes, it’s accumulated a winter’s worth of snow.”

Zhou Shuren sighed, ”The reconstruction progress in the city is still slow.”

These years, the capital has been continuously undergoing reconstruction. Due to resettlement issues, the pace has never been fast. However, the capital is still better off because it’s the center of power, where all initial policies are most beneficial. Other states’ citizens have it harder.
