Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

The young man then glanced at the other three Dealer Players, who were unconscious just like everyone else. The disgust in his eyes couldn’t have been more obvious.

”Why can’t we kill them?” Perry Yates asked curiously.

’Isn’t our mission to eliminate all the non-Dealer players? Why is this person stopping me?’

Justin Shaw had never been one for explaining things. He preferred to let the facts speak for themselves.

So, faced with Perry Yates’s confusion, he looked toward the nearest non-Dealer player.

The next second, without any warning, the player’s body instantly exploded like a firework.

The scene startled Perry Yates. She turned her head, a trace of wariness in her eyes as she looked at Justin Shaw.

However, Justin Shaw ignored Perry Yates’s apprehension and gestured for her to look forward.

Although Perry was confused, she turned to look. She saw that the person who had just exploded was actually starting to re-form, but it was as if the body was being haphazardly pieced together.

The re-formed body had a human shape, but it couldn’t be called a person. It was more like a humanoid monster.

”ROAR!!”

The fully assembled monster let out a furious roar at Perry Yates and Justin Shaw, and then, the next second, its body exploded once more.

”There. It should be completely dead this time.”

Justin Shaw said flatly.

”What was that just now?” Perry Yates asked.

”That thing is called a Hunter. You should have known before you qualified to enter the game: the game favors the Croupiers, but the Executor doesn’t like anyone challenging his authority.”

Hearing this, Perry Yates nodded. ”The first part is easy to understand, but the second part... what exactly is the Executor?”

”These Hunters are the Executor’s minions. They only appear after a non-Dealer player has been killed completely. They have no sight, no sense of smell, and no aggressive intent toward anything except Croupiers. But when facing a Croupier, they unleash astonishing combat power.

Most importantly, the longer a Hunter exists, the stronger it becomes.

So, unless you’re confident in a one-hit kill, it’s best not to let a Hunter appear at all.”

After hearing Justin Shaw’s explanation, Perry Yates understood why he had stopped her.

After all, if she had succeeded just now, more than twenty Hunters would have appeared in an instant. Unprepared and knowing nothing about them, it was highly unlikely Perry Yates would have been able to eliminate them all.

Given the principle that Hunters grow stronger the longer they exist, if even one managed to escape and evade pursuit from the other Croupiers, it’s terrifying to think how difficult it would become to deal with.

”But I still don’t understand. Why does the Executor have so much animosity towards us?”

This man clearly knew a lot, so Perry Yates went ahead and voiced the question on her mind.

”I’m not sure about that either. However, the one thing I can be sure of is that our existence threatens their position.”

’That answer was as good as no answer at all.’

Not getting the answer she wanted, Perry Yates couldn’t help but sigh. She then joined Justin Shaw in cleaning up the mess on the ground.

’However cool Justin Shaw looked when he made his move, that’s how pathetic he looked cleaning up now.’

Perry Yates shot Justin Shaw a resentful look. ’If you had to make a move, couldn’t you have chosen a gentler method?’

’One explosion wasn’t enough, you had to do it twice? Who were you trying to scare?’

The two of them grabbed cleaning tools and, huffing and puffing, spent a long time scrubbing. It wasn’t until dawn that they finally cleaned up all the fragments and bloodstains.

It was a good thing the Sleeping Cloud Mist was active; otherwise, the commotion they made would have woken everyone else up long ago.

After finishing everything, they each returned to their original spots and lay down. Then, Perry Yates dispelled the effects of the Sleeping Cloud Mist.

Five minutes later, a piercing scream suddenly erupted, startling many people awake. Perry Yates also feigned being woken up, squinting in the direction of the sound.

”My cards! My Copy Card is gone! Who stole my Copy Card!”

At these words, everyone subconsciously felt for their own cards, only to discover that theirs were all gone too.

”My cards are gone too.”

”Mine too.”

”What’s going on? Who did this?!”

With everyone’s cards gone, the crowd instantly fell into a panic.

After all, besides the Resurrection Card, their other main support on this island was the Replication Card.

Some of them had already lost their chance to resurrect, and now even their Replication Cards were gone. The crowd couldn’t help but descend into panic.

’In this state, could they really defeat the Dealer Players?’

In the crowd, Justin Shaw, who was pretending to be as anxious as everyone else, shot a surprised glance at Perry Yates in the distance.

He hadn’t expected this little rookie to give him such a pleasant surprise.

Justin Shaw hadn’t been awake the entire time. He had also been affected by the Sleeping Cloud Mist, but he had an item that could instantly remove any abnormal status effects.

When he woke up yesterday, he saw Perry Yates preparing to kill a player, which was why he had spoken up to stop her.

’So, before all that, she had already taken everyone’s Copy Cards.’

However, Justin Shaw’s attention wasn’t on the Copy Cards at the moment. Instead, he was wondering why Perry Yates hadn’t gone after the Resurrection Cards.

If Perry Yates knew what Justin Shaw was thinking right now, she would have definitely rolled her eyes at him. ’You think I didn’t want to go after the Resurrection Cards?’

’I couldn’t even find them, okay?’

So Perry Yates guessed that the Resurrection Card probably didn’t exist in the form of a physical card.

Watching the panicked people milling about, Perry Yates saw the traces of their cleaning job disappear completely under the shuffling feet. She blinked and said nothing.

After the initial panic, some of the calmer people began to count heads.

Soon, they noticed something was wrong. Yesterday there had been one hundred ninety-five people, but today there were only one hundred ninety-four.

”Someone’s missing!”

”That person must be the Croupier!”

Almost instantly, the crowd decided that the missing person was the Croupier who had taken their Copy Cards.

”No wonder Lord Executor told us to kill the Croupiers! They’re just a bunch of irredeemable thieves!”

Perry ”Irredeemable-Thief” Yates: ...

’I feel a little offended.’

’But, thinking about last night’s haul... I’d do it again in a heartbeat.’

’As for these people, let them curse. It’s not like their words can hurt me.’
