Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

When these people arrived, they were holding all sorts of cleaning tools, and some even had fine beads of sweat on their foreheads.

Compared to surviving in an unfamiliar world, these people were clearly more willing to clean.

The job didn’t pay, but it did include room and board.

Besides, they figured that later on, they might be able to get a ton of cards under the guidance of The Card Tavern’s owner, just like those lucky few from the last game.

Once everyone had gathered—all seven of them—Perry Yates gave each person a machete. Then, pointing at the pile of Xenomorph corpses, she said, ”Process these Xenomorphs according to my instructions. When you’re finished, I’ll give each of you a card.”

Hearing Perry Yates’s offer, everyone’s eyes lit up, and they agreed without the slightest hesitation.

’It was just butchering Xenomorph corpses. They could handle that. They’d just consider it practice for the future.’

Following Perry Yates’s demonstration, the seven of them copied her every move and quickly learned how to process the Xenomorphs.

They collected the useful parts. As for the useless ones, Perry Yates cleared out a dedicated open area to serve as a crematorium, then set fire to all the processed Xenomorph corpses, incinerating them.

The final step was to collect the cards from the ashes.

Looking at the newly acquired cards, Perry Yates suddenly had a thought.

’Xenomorphs have been in this world for three years. It’s impossible that the people here haven’t researched them, even dissecting them, yet they never found any cards.’

’Only a handful of lucky people had obtained cards by pure chance. Why was that?’

’It was a known fact that the people of this world, unlike those from the Glacial Realm, were capable of using cards.’

As she thought about this, she looked at the layer of ash that had already accumulated. Perry Yates had a flash of insight. ’Could it be the disposal method?’

With this in mind, Perry Yates began to experiment on the Xenomorph corpses.

The many methods of Xenomorph corpse disposal.

Dismemberment, slicing, pulverizing every inch of flesh, blowing them up with bombs...

Perry Yates tried every single method she could think of.

Ultimately, she came to a conclusion: the more completely a Xenomorph corpse was destroyed, the higher the probability of a card appearing.

For instance, when a corpse was instantly incinerated into a pile of ash, as Perry Yates had been doing, the card appearance rate was as high as ninety-nine percent.

Why not one hundred percent? Because Perry Yates had removed some parts from the Xenomorph’s body that weren’t incinerated.

Perry Yates was experimenting on the Xenomorphs, but unbeknownst to her, the other players interpreted her actions very differently.

The other players didn’t know Perry Yates was experimenting with card drop rates. All they saw was the owner of The Card Tavern subjecting the Xenomorph corpses they had processed to some kind of frenzied torture.

”Is this considered desecrating a corpse?” a player whispered.

”I’m suddenly starting to feel a little sorry for these Xenomorphs.”

But despite his words, the player’s face showed not a shred of sympathy.

After all, Xenomorphs weren’t human—they even hunted humans. The players weren’t saints, so of course they wouldn’t genuinely feel pity.

They were just curious as to why she was doing it.

”What does it matter if she’s desecrating a corpse or not? I’m sure the boss has her reasons for doing this. We have to trust the boss,” another player said resolutely.

”You’re right. We have to trust the boss.” A fourth player nodded emphatically. ”Come on, let’s get back to work. We don’t want to hold up the boss’s important business.”

「The eleventh day of the game.」

Early this morning, nearly twenty players followed the instructions on the Thousand Paper Cranes, found their way here, and entered the protective shield.

With these new additions, the protective shield’s defenses were reinforced once more.

Perry Yates, dressed in her pajamas, sat by the window of the Safe House. She looked up at the Golden Spirit Illusion Feather above her head and could feel its energy strengthen once again. ’Looks like the quality of players is high this time,’ she thought.

But what made her happiest was that she now had more people to help her clean the city.

Among the new arrivals, Perry Yates naturally spotted members of the Survival Game Administration.

That was to be expected, though. The Survival Game Administration had a large player base now, with almost seventy percent of players choosing to join them. As a result, you could find their members in nearly every game.

Compared to other players, Perry Yates actually preferred dealing with people from the Survival Game Administration.

Aside from their constant attempts to recruit her, they were very competent in other areas—like managing other players, for example.

After observing the new player from the Survival Game Administration and confirming that he was a reliable person, Perry Yates had her Clone go find him.

”You want me to be in charge of managing the players inside the protective shield?”

Victor Alden looked at the tavern owner who had suddenly appeared before him, looking completely flattered and taken aback.

”I don’t want you to be responsible, I want the Survival Game Administration to be responsible. After all, this isn’t my area of expertise,” Perry Yates said.

”Alright, no problem. But what should I do?” Victor Alden asked.

”It’s simple. Just organize them for cleanup duty. Tell them not to touch the plants on the roadsides or buildings. Also, maintain order. People should be arriving one after another with Xenomorph corpses to trade, so don’t let them cause any trouble.”

After listening to Perry Yates, Victor Alden looked at her and asked, ”Is that all?”

”That’s it. Oh, right. If any Xenomorphs show up in the vicinity, you’ll be responsible for killing them.”

Having successfully offloaded the management duties, Perry Yates felt much more relaxed.

When a person has too much free time, their mind tends to wander, and they can easily become dissatisfied with the status quo.

’She started to wonder if Isaac Sawyer and his group, for their own benefit, would hide her existence from the other bases.’

The more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed. Perry Yates decided she had to do something.

So, she once again took out the Thousand Paper Cranes. After scribbling a message on it, she changed the recipients from ”players” to ”native inhabitants.”

Before letting the Thousand Paper Cranes fly, a white light flashed in Perry Yates’s hand, and a black card appeared.

The card vanished, replaced by a bottle of pink perfume in her hand.

Trust Perfume. When sprayed on one’s body, anyone who smells the scent will believe whatever the wearer says without question.

Even if you were to say the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, they would believe you implicitly. They wouldn’t think you were wrong; they would simply think the world was wrong.

However, the item had a time limit. It would only last for about half an hour.

But that would be enough.

After all, her goal wasn’t to make the native inhabitants truly believe her, but simply to leave an impression in their minds.
