Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Just then, everyone froze. A monotone, mechanical voice had suddenly sounded in their ears.

[Dear Player Perry Yates, welcome to the Island Royale game. In this game, you will participate alongside 199 other players. Including you, there are a total of ten Croupiers.

The game will last for thirty days. Your mission is to survive these thirty days and kill all players except for the other Croupiers.

Non-Croupier players in this game possess two Resurrection Cards and three Copy Cards, which can be used to copy any ability you display in front of them.

A friendly reminder from the game system: You are the Hunter, but you are also the prey. So don’t let your guard down.]

Perry Yates was a little dumbfounded after reading the rules for this game.

’Kill all players except for the ten Croupiers.’

’In other words, this game is the ten of us against one hundred and ninety of them.’

’And the non-Croupier players even have two Resurrection Cards and three Replication Cards.’

’Replication Cards, fine, but what the hell are Resurrection Cards?’

’Doesn’t that mean they aren’t facing one hundred ninety people, but one hundred ninety times three... a total of five hundred seventy?’

As Perry Yates complained internally, she observed the expressions of the people around her.

Soon, Perry Yates discovered that after a brief moment of shock, the faces of most of the people quickly lit up with pleasant surprise.

’These must be the non-Croupier players.’

To avoid arousing suspicion, Perry Yates also put on a pleasantly surprised expression.

’Judging by their reactions, it seems they weren’t players before this, just ordinary people.’

’And from the looks on their faces, the game system must have promised them some irresistible reward.’

’I remember the game system’s friendly reminder: You are the Hunter, but you are also the prey.’

’Flip that around, and the prey can also be the Hunter.’

’So, the mission for these non-Croupier players is to hunt the Croupiers!’

Perry Yates’s heart lurched at the thought.

Just as she was pondering how to best hide her identity, Perry Yates’s sharp senses detected a faint noise.

Perry Yates glanced outside, and in the next second, her pupils dilated. The plane’s engine was spewing black smoke.

As Perry Yates reeled in shock, that faint sound came again, and the bracelet on her wrist suddenly grew hot.

’Danger!’

’Wait a minute. The game has officially started. If the goal is to kill all the non-Croupier players, what better place to do it than on this plane?’

’As for the Croupiers, the rules never said you couldn’t kill fellow Croupiers. Besides, how could anyone who made it to the rank of Croupier not have a few tricks to save their own life?’

As if to confirm her thoughts, the next second, massive explosions rocked the front and rear of the plane.

It all happened so fast. The entire plane exploded in midair, blooming like a firework.

In the real world, an explosion of this magnitude would have left no survivors.

But here, not only were there survivors—there were exactly ten of them.

The moment of the explosion, Perry Yates had immediately activated Wargod Kai, which, combined with her Protection Suit, left her completely unharmed.

Through the swirling smoke, Perry Yates vaguely made out several other figures.

She counted. Including herself, there were exactly ten. Unbelievably, none of them seemed to be hurt at all.

However, this was clearly not the right time for them to acknowledge each other.

At this point, everyone on the plane besides them was dead, but since the others had Resurrection Cards, they were already starting to revive, one by one, in the sea below.

This meant they would only have one Resurrection Card left each, which was good news for the Croupiers.

Although no words were exchanged, they reached a tacit understanding. After all, for this game, they were comrades-in-arms.

As she fell, Perry Yates opened an Any Door and teleported herself into the sea, feigning the appearance of someone who had just revived.

Thankfully, people revived with their clothes on. She had no desire to see any of these strangers in the buff.

Everyone was now desperately swimming toward the nearest small island.

’They can all swim, surprisingly.’

Perry Yates watched their agile forms cutting through the water. ’Looks like hoping they’d drown is a no-go,’ she thought.

With that thought, while no one was paying attention, she dove underwater and activated Invisibility. The armor on her index finger extended to four centimeters, its sharp edge glinting with a cold light.

She quietly swam toward the person nearest her. Then, when they weren’t looking, she made a light scratch on their exposed skin.

The substance secreted by the armor wasn’t a lethal poison but a powerful sedative that would cause a person to lose consciousness instantly.

Because they were in the water, the sedative was somewhat diluted, but after three seconds, the victim still gradually lost strength and sank into the sea.

As the man sank, Perry Yates’s sharp eyes spotted something in his pocket, glinting silver in the water.

She reached out, took the three cards, and saw that they were the three Copy Cards.

’So, the cards held by non-Croupier players can be stolen, huh?’

’In that case, doesn’t that mean...’

Perry Yates surfaced, her grim expression gone as she looked at the players ahead. Her eyes now saw them as a trove of priceless treasures.

’Going after them one by one is too slow.’

She was invisible, anyway. Countless venomous Thorny Rose vines began to spread beneath the water. All the players near Perry Yates were caught, dragged under one by one, and quickly fell silent.

To prevent the players from copying her ability, Perry Yates increased the dose of the venom to a level that would cause instant death.

’They can still revive one more time, anyway,’ she thought. ’So I’ll gladly help myself to those three Replication Cards.’

Even though Perry Yates was working fast, many players still noticed that something was amiss.

The number of swimmers was steadily dwindling, and those who vanished were reappearing out of thin air on the distant island.

Having already revived once, they knew exactly what this meant.

It meant that those people had lost their final chance to be resurrected.

After taking down more than twenty people in a row, Perry Yates ceased her attack.

First, the remaining players were now on high alert and had started grouping together. If she continued her assault, she would likely be discovered. She could see many of them holding their Replication Cards at the ready.

Second, they were very close to the island, so she couldn’t stay hidden underwater for much longer.

Fortunately, this was when her Silver Cross Earrings took effect, allowing Perry Yates to slip into the crowd, completely unnoticed and unsuspected.

After making it safely ashore, Perry Yates flopped onto the sand, panting heavily and putting on a convincing show of utter exhaustion.
