Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

However, this place was more like a shop that sold cards, and it was filled entirely with rather common item cards.

After memorizing the shop’s location, Perry Yates continued her search. She was incredibly thorough, leaving no stone unturned.

Even when Gary Goodman urged her to hurry, she paid him no mind.

Based on her past experiences, Perry Yates focused on searching under the beds. She checked every single one, not even overlooking the cribs.

Thanks to her persistent search, she finally found what she was looking for.

”Aha, so this is where it was hidden,” Perry Yates muttered to herself.

”What’s hidden here? What did you find?” A faint voice suddenly whispered in Perry Yates’s ear, startling her.

Looking at the object in her hand, Perry Yates nearly threw it away.

”Why didn’t you tell me this thing could talk?” Perry Yates said, frowning.

’Thank goodness I don’t have a habit of talking to myself,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, all my secrets would have been exposed.’

The voice paused for a moment before speaking after a long while. ”I thought you knew.”

Perry Yates was speechless. ’I didn’t know.’

’Forget it,’ she thought. ’There’s no point dwelling on this now. I’d better just bluff my way through this.’

”I said I found a place that looks like a warehouse.”

As she spoke, Perry Yates slightly adjusted the direction of the device in her hand.

A building made entirely of stone appeared in the frame.

Just then, a member of the Snow-Ox Clan walked toward the building, holding a stack of treasure boxes, including a golden-red one.

Seeing this, Gary Goodman and the others felt their breath catch in their throats.

Since the game began, they had only seen a golden-red treasure box once.

From that treasure box, they had obtained a four-star item card. Even though it wasn’t a Skill Card, they were still ecstatic. After all, it was the first time they had ever seen a four-star card, and its value was immeasurable.

Even on a global scale, there were only a handful of four-star cards.

That was why they were so excited to see the glow of that golden-red treasure box.

In their eyes, it was as good as a four-star card.

”Memorize this location. This is our primary objective for today.”

Having successfully diverted the attention of Gary Goodman and his team, Perry Yates secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

After getting a handle on the situation in the city, Gary Goodman and his team decided to make their move after nightfall.

As for Perry Yates, Gary Goodman didn’t assign her any tasks. After all, their initial agreement stated that she was only responsible for providing intelligence on the city.

Of course, there was another, more important reason: Perry Yates’s attribute.

It was very difficult for plants to be combat-effective in this kind of environment.

The Wood Attribute’s fighting style primarily involved using plants and vines.

In this world of ice and snow, plants were out of the question. As for vines, they would freeze and shatter the moment they appeared—a fact they had already confirmed through experimentation.

Although their team was small, each member had been chosen after careful consideration.

Everyone had an Ice, Water, or Wind attribute.

As for the Fire Attribute.

While it was true that fire could melt ice, that was only when the powers were evenly matched.

But in this game, the Fire Attribute was completely countered.

What they didn’t know was that Perry Yates’s primary card had three attributes and was, in fact, a four-star card.

Perry Yates’s Wood Attribute was inherently stronger than others. So, while other people’s vines would be instantly frozen, she wasn’t actually affected that much.

So, in Gary Goodman’s eyes, it was better to have Perry Yates remain airborne and provide intel at critical moments than to have her participate in the operation directly.

Meanwhile, knowing she had no further assignments, Perry Yates had no intention of simply doing nothing.

She hadn’t forgotten her objective: to test how much damage the Spiritual Ability Gun could do to the Snow-Ox Clan.

She recalled the first time she used the Spiritual Ability Gun. Unfamiliar with it, her shot went wide.

The bullet had grazed the Snow-Ox’s shoulder, leaving a long gash.

This proved that the Spiritual Ability Gun could indeed harm the Snow-Ox Clan.

However, there were at least eight hundred, if not a thousand, members of the Snow-Ox Clan here, not to mention all the other players. Gary Goodman’s side, in contrast, had only about twenty people.

The numbers were severely unbalanced. So, she decided to do something to incapacitate the Snow-Ox Clan and the other players.

With that in mind, Perry Yates began to search for a suitable location where she could administer some poison.

’Strange... What’s going on with that room? Why are so many people lining up?’

Mindful of what had just happened, Perry Yates didn’t voice her thoughts, but slowly floated in that direction.

Her memory was good; she was certain that building hadn’t been there a moment ago.

Furthermore, everyone waiting in line, both humans and members of the Snow-Ox Clan, had a container on their back.

The humans and Snow-Ox who entered the room would emerge within ten minutes at most, every one of them wearing a smile.

’And what’s in those containers... Is that water?’

Perry Yates used her X-ray vision and saw that the containers were indeed all filled with water.

In temperatures cold enough to freeze a droplet of water in mid-air, this water showed no signs of freezing.

’Something’s wrong. Something is very wrong.’

Perry Yates continued to drift through the sky, scanning her surroundings with the device as if she were ready to provide Gary Goodman’s team with updates at a moment’s notice. In reality, her gaze remained fixed on that strange new building.

She watched as humans and Snow-Ox alike went in one by one, only to emerge beaming with joy.

The crowd only began to thin out as dusk approached.

A few minutes after the last person had left, a figure emerged from within.

The person was bundled up so tightly that only their eyes were visible.

Perry Yates noticed the person was holding a treasure box, and inside it was—

Cards!

Not only were there cards in the box, but the house itself was also made of cards—two of them, in fact.

After so long, Perry Yates was once again looking at a five-star card.

She could never mistake that dazzling golden glow.

Anyone who had ever possessed a card of four stars or higher knew that such cards would bind to their owner.

And there were only two ways to obtain a card that was already bound to an owner: first, the owner gives it to you willingly; second, you kill the owner.

If she hadn’t discovered it, that would be one thing. But now that she had, Perry Yates had no intention of letting a genuine five-star card slip through her fingers. For that, she could only apologize.
