Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1935: Chapter 1934: Can You Do Me a Favor?

In the hospital room, Luo Haofeng gently reassured Qiao Siyi, ”I’ll be waiting for you outside the operating room, don’t be afraid.”

Qiao Siyi smiled and nodded, ”With you here, I’m not afraid.”

Having the person you love by your side, there’s really nothing to be afraid of.

After exchanging a few words, the doctor came in, and Luo Haofeng, sitting in a wheelchair, wheeled himself back a few steps.

He escorted Qiao Siyi to the operating room, gave her an encouraging smile, and watched her being taken inside.

G City

Bai Xiaoxiao had spent the weekend with Wen Ran and others.

Now that Wen Ran was at work, she stayed at home.

Since she didn’t have work, she woke up late in the morning and saw Mother Bai waving to her from the living room sofa as soon as she went downstairs.

”Xiaoxiao, after breakfast, let’s go to the mall.”

Mother Bai said with a smile.

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled faintly, ”Mom, what do you want to buy?”

”Aren’t we still short of baby diapers? The mall staff just called and said they’ve restocked. Let’s go check it out today.”

For the past two months, Mr. Bai and Mother Bai had almost prepared all the items needed for the baby’s arrival.

These matters didn’t require Bai Xiaoxiao to worry, and every time she offered an opinion, Mr. Bai and Mother Bai would say she didn’t understand.

Over time, Bai Xiaoxiao stopped bothering; they would buy whatever they wanted.

Mother Bai accompanied Bai Xiaoxiao to the dining room for breakfast, and while Bai Xiaoxiao ate, she listened to Mother Bai say, ”After we shop at the mall, let’s go to the maternity care center to pick a good maternity nurse.”

”Sure!”

Bai Xiaoxiao replied absent-mindedly.

”Xiaoxiao, you’ve seemed a bit distracted these past two days. Is something on your mind?”

After saying her piece, Mother Bai looked at Bai Xiaoxiao inquisitively.

Since she came back from the weekend outing, something seemed off.

Bai Xiaoxiao gave a perfunctory smile, not wanting to worry her mother, ”I’m not distracted, I just feel like the baby’s been moving less these days.”

She casually gave an excuse, to which Mother Bai patiently explained, ”As your pregnancy progresses, the baby’s movements naturally decrease, not as active as in the earlier months.”

”I see.”

Bai Xiaoxiao pretended not to understand, acting as if she just realized it.

Mother Bai smiled and said, ”It’s normal that you didn’t know. Oh, your father’s birthday is next month. Do you want to call Luo Haofeng and invite him over for dinner?”

Bai Xiaoxiao was holding her milk to her lips, and upon hearing Mother Bai’s words, her action suddenly halted.

”Xiaoxiao, I’m not asking you to accept him right away, but you’ve been thinking for over three months. If you don’t try to face him, it’ll be even harder to move on.”

”Mom, let’s talk about it when the time comes.”

Bai Xiaoxiao forced a smile, but it was a very awkward one.

Mother Bai was just mentioning it, not asking Bai Xiaoxiao to call immediately. She said, ”Alright, telling him the day before your father’s birthday is also fine.”

Bai Xiaoxiao felt a wave of bitterness, Luo Haofeng wouldn’t come anymore.

She had heard that today was Qiao Siyi’s surgery day, Luo Haofeng was probably outside the operating room now.

Thinking of him being with another woman made a sharp pain resonate in Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart, causing her grip on the cup to tighten.

Absent-mindedly drinking the milk, which she normally finished with breakfast, she unknowingly drank it all, leaving the empty cup, reluctant to put it down.

A flash of heartache appeared in Mother Bai’s eyes. She didn’t know that Bai Xiaoxiao and Luo Haofeng were truly over, still thinking Xiaoxiao was sad about past events.

”Xiaoxiao, do you want more?”

Mother Bai asked with a smile.

Bai Xiaoxiao’s thoughts returned to reality, she shook her head and set the cup down, ”No more.”

”Then eat some more breakfast.”

”I’m full, let’s go shopping now.” Bai Xiaoxiao forced a bright smile, and as the helper came to clear the dishes, she got up and took Mother Bai’s arm, leaving the dining room.

When they reached the mall entrance, they saw a couple coming out from inside.

The woman was sitting in a wheelchair, holding groceries, and her husband was pushing the wheelchair, with a gentle smile on his face.

They were chatting and laughing, enveloped in a warm and happy atmosphere.

”Xiaoxiao, what are you looking at?”

Mother Bai had walked a few steps ahead, turned her head, and found her daughter still standing at the entrance, looking outside.

Bai Xiaoxiao was staring blankly at the departing couple, and in her mind’s eye, the scene turned into Luo Haofeng and Qiao Siyi, one sitting in a wheelchair with gentle eyes, the other pushing the wheelchair with a gentle smile.

Her hands at her sides, fingers slowly clenched, the pain in her heart spreading, reaching her limbs and every cell in her brain.

The pain made her face turn slightly pale.

”Xiaoxiao, what’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable somewhere?”

Mother Bai’s voice and presence did not break Bai Xiaoxiao from her trance, as she returned with a worried expression.

Bai Xiaoxiao suppressed the pain in her heart, saying lightly, ”No, I thought I saw someone I knew.”

”Who?”

Mother Bai curiously looked outside.

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled again, ”Maybe I mistook them. The woman’s back looked like a classmate of mine. Mom, let’s go inside.”

Mother Bai nodded, her expression gentle, ”Alright.”

The time spent shopping wasn’t long because the diapers had been ordered over the phone previously. After Mother Bai checked the quality, she had them sent to the car.

She and Xiaoxiao bought two more toys and picked out a few outfits, then asked Bai Xiaoxiao, ”Xiaoxiao, do you want to buy a couple of outfits for yourself too?”

”No, I’ve already bought a lot.”

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head, when a crisp, cheerful voice called from behind, ”Xiaoxiao.”

She turned her head and saw a few steps away, Xiao Yuting’s mother, along with another lady of similar age, approaching.

Bai Xiaoxiao presented a polite smile, greeting Xiao Yuting’s mother.

Mother Bai also exchanged greetings with her.

”Xiaoxiao, it’s been a while, you’ve grown more noticeably, and you’re even prettier?”

Although the two families lived nearby, they didn’t meet daily.

Especially considering Xiao Yuting and Bai Xiaoxiao’s situation.

”By the way, Xiaoxiao, could you do me a favor?”

After some pleasantries, Mother Xiao gently asked while holding Bai Xiaoxiao’s hand.

”Auntie, what do you need help with?”

Mother Xiao sighed, glancing at her companion lady, complaining, ”Xiaoxiao, you’re family, so I’ll be frank. It’s about Yuting.”

”What about Yuting?”

It was Mother Bai who asked.

”Mrs. Qiu introduced a girl to our Yuting. She’s outstanding in terms of background, family, and talent, a rare find. But Yuting is staying in B City, unwilling to return, because of a disabled woman.”
