Chapter 1133: 1132 Momo is back

Kangning Hospital, in the ward.

As Wen Ran anxiously awaited news, Qing Feng knocked on the door and came in, informing her, “Miss Wen, Young Master Mo had an accident on the road to the Western Suburbs, suffered minor injuries, and Officer Lu is bringing Momo back to the hospital now.”

Upon hearing this, Wen Ran’s complexion changed, and she asked with concern, “Why did Mo Xiuchen have an accident, and what about Momo? Is she safe?”

“Momo is very safe. Officer Lu brought a doctor with him, and they will arrive at the hospital shortly.”

“What about Mo Xiuchen? Where is he?”

Wen Ran lifted the covers, intending to get out of bed. Bai Xiaoxiao did not stop her but instead extended a hand to help her.

“Young Master Mo is in the ward, and he has not yet regained consciousness.”

“You said that Mo Xiuchen only had minor injuries, but why hasn’t he woken up yet? No, I need to go see him.”

Wen Ran’s heart was filled with worry. Why was Mo Xiuchen injured, how serious were his injuries, and was Momo really unharmed? Cheng Jia had hidden her for several days; could she be starving now?

Her brows furrowed tightly as she debated whether to wait for Momo or to go see Mo Xiuchen first.

“Miss Wen, don’t worry. Young Master Mo only has a slight concussion and will wake up soon. Young Master Gu was supposed to tell you personally, but he was called away for another surgery. Young Master Wen went to the entrance to receive Momo, worried that you might be anxious, so he asked me to inform you.”

“Then, I’ll also go downstairs to meet Momo and then visit Mo Xiuchen. wasn’t Cheng Jia with Mo Xiuchen when he had the accident? What about her?”

Wen Ran asked again as she reached the door.

Bai Xiaoxiao called the special nursing assistant to watch over Ziyi, and she accompanied Wen Ran downstairs.

“Cheng Jia is dead.” When mentioning Cheng Jia, Qing Feng’s voice grew a bit cold and hard. That woman deserved her fate, and even though she handed over Momo to Lu Zhiyan before her death, he didn’t feel pity for her.

Her death was a cause for celebration.

Wen Ran’s face slightly changed upon hearing this. Cheng Jia had been with Mo Xiuchen, but Qing Feng declared she was dead, implying that Mo Xiuchen’s injuries couldn’t be light.

“How did Cheng Jia die?”

Seeing Wen Ran’s changing expression, Bai Xiaoxiao hurriedly asked Qing Feng.

Qing Feng also realized his words had caused a misunderstanding in Wen Ran and quickly explained, “No, it was said that during the accident, Young Master Mo swerved the direction. Cheng Jia, who could have been severely injured, only had minor injuries. Moved by Young Master Mo’s actions, she finally repented and agreed to safely return Momo… However, the people watching over Momo weren’t her people; those two didn’t want her to take Momo away. She killed them, and during the fight, she also sustained severe injuries…”

After listening to Qing Feng, Wen Ran paused.

She pursed her lips, then said to Bai Xiaoxiao beside her, “Let’s go meet Momo first.”

“Okay.”

Bai Xiaoxiao nodded, her mind as full of doubts as Wen Ran’s. Qing Feng hadn’t witnessed the events firsthand and didn’t know the details of why Cheng Jia killed those two who were looking after Momo.

They took the elevator to the first floor. Bai Xiaoxiao glanced toward the entrance and whispered, “Ranran, it’s a bit chilly outside; why don’t you wait here while I go out and fetch Momo?”

“No, I’ll go outside.” Wen Ran decisively refused her suggestion.

Having been separated from Momo for so long, she was eager to see her immediately; there was no way she could just wait in the lobby.

Stepping outside the hospital entrance, Wen Jin and Gu Yan stood by the roadside, flanked by two pediatric nurses and the chief physician.

Seeing her and Bai Xiaoxiao emerge, Gu Yan and Wen Jin immediately approached.

“Ranran, why did you come out? It’s cold at night; come inside, catching a chill isn’t good.”

Wen Ran, although wearing a hat, had been in the wind, and it ultimately did her no good.

Gu Yan looked at Wen Ran. He reached out and pulled down the brim of her hat, gently saying, “Ranran, you don’t have to worry, Momo is fine.”

“Okay.”

Wen Ran nodded, then asked, “Was Mo Xiuchen seriously injured? Qing Feng didn’t tell me just now which room he’s in.”

“Not serious, he’ll wake up soon.”

Gu Yan reassuringly patted her shoulder, and just as he finished speaking, they heard the sound of an ambulance and a police car. Wen Ran’s eyes lit up, and beside her, Wen Jin also said with joy, “Momo has come back.”

“Ranran, slow down.”

Wen Ran suddenly ran toward the roadside, which frightened Bai Xiaoxiao who hurriedly followed her.

The ambulance and police car stopped in succession. Wen Ran’s eyes widened as she eagerly watched the ambulance door open. A pediatrician holding the sleeping Momo emerged from the vehicle, and nearby, the chief doctor stepped forward, “Ranran, for Momo’s health, we need to do a thorough examination first, then we’ll take her back to the room.”

“Oh.”

Wen Ran was about to move forward to hold Momo but, hearing the chief doctor’s words, froze with her hand mid-air, and her footsteps also halted.

“Ranran, don’t be nervous, Momo is definitely healthy,” Bai Xiaoxiao beside her, gripping Wen Ran’s hand, offered her strength.

“Ah Jin, why don’t you accompany Ranran to see Mo Xiuchen first? Mo Xiuchen will be waking up soon too, so he doesn’t end up as worried as Ranran,” Gu Yan said, glancing at Momo who the chief doctor was holding, then instructing Wen Jin who was nearby.

Wen Jin’s eyes flickered, she softly replied, “Okay.”

Then she stopped Wen Ran who wanted to follow Momo, “Ranran, let’s go see Mo Xiuchen first. Once Momo’s examination is complete, you can hold her.”

The expression in Wen Ran’s eyes hesitated. She had been separated from Momo for so long, and though she hadn’t gotten a clear look at Momo’s face just a moment ago, she was right there in the chief’s arms.

“Ranran, there’s no use in you following for Momo’s examination; let’s go see Mo Xiuchen first.”

Wen Jin stepped forward, stopping Wen Ran from continuing to follow the chief holding Momo.

Wen Ran thought of Mo Xiuchen and finally nodded, “Alright.”

Gu Yan and a group of doctors quickly entered the hospital. Wen Jin led Bai Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran to Mo Xiuchen’s room. He had just awakened. Seeing Wen Ran enter, Mo Xiuchen’s eyes deepened, and he softly called out, “Ranran.”

“Momo has come back, my dad took her for a full body check-up. Don’t worry.”

Wen Ran quickly walked to the bedside. Wen Jin gave Bai Xiaoxiao a meaningful look, and the two of them did not approach but instead left the room.

“Ranran, I’m fine; don’t worry.”

Mo Xiuchen reached out his hand, holding Wen Ran’s hand.

“How did the car accident happen?”

Wen Ran scrutinized him, then lifted the blanket to check, and upon seeing that aside from a wound on his forehead, there were no other injuries, she somewhat relaxed.

“Sit down, I’ll explain slowly.”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice was low and gentle, his deep eyes staring at Wen Ran. She gently nodded, sat down in front of the bed, slightly turning her body to face him.

“On the way to the Western Suburbs, Cheng Jia received a phone call. The person taking care of Momo refused to hand Momo over to Lu Zhiyan and even hung up on her. I was careless and didn’t see the car coming from the left, and that’s how the collision happened.”
