Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 965: 964 Do you not hate him? Chapter 965: 964 Do you not hate him? Gu Kai had ultimately not gone to Bai Yiyi’s house.

He had just started the car when his phone rang, it was his father calling to report a series of car accidents on the highway and asked him to rush to the scene immediately.

By his side, Wen Ran heard part of Gu Yan’s words and was startled. After Gu Kai ended the call, before he could speak, she said,

“Brother, you should go help the injured first, I’ll just have Qing Feng and Qing Yang come pick me up later.”

Gu Kai hesitated. Today, since Ranran was with him, Qing Feng and Qing Yang hadn’t come with them. He was now concerned about leaving Ranran alone.

If Mo Xiuchen found out that he had left Ranran alone in this cemetery, he would hold a grudge against him again.

“Ranran, how about I take you home first?”

“No need, I still have some things to say to Bai Yiyi. Brother, I’ll be fine.” Wen Ran said, as she opened the car door, climbed out, and without waiting for Gu Kai to speak, she had already closed the door behind her: “Brother, you should hurry.”

Bai Yiyi and Li En happened to walk by; their car was parked not far from Gu Kai’s. Seeing Wen Ran get out of the car, the two approached with puzzled expressions, “Miss Wen, what’s the matter?”

Gu Kai also stepped out of the car and said to Li En and Bai Yiyi, “There’s been a series of crashes on the nearby highway. I need to head to the scene right now, Miss Bai, please take my sister home later.”

Bai Yiyi was slightly stunned.

This was the first time Gu Kai had spoken to her in such a polite and gentle tone. Standing across the car, he looked handsome and upright, his demeanor cool yet dignified.

“You should go help the injured quickly, I will definitely ensure Miss Wen’s safety on her way home.”

Bai Yiyi was only stunned for half a second before quickly regaining her composure and agreeing to Gu Kai without hesitation.

“Bro, you should hurry.” Wen Ran also waved at Gu Kai, and after he reiterated his request, he jumped into the car, started it, and drove off in a cloud of dust.

Wen Ran got into Li En’s car, sitting in the back with Bai Yiyi. As the car started moving, Wen Ran’s phone rang; it was Mo Xiuchen.

Bai Yiyi, seeing the caller ID on her screen, forced a smile, then turned her head to look out the car window, giving her privacy to answer the call.

“Hello, Mo Xiuchen.”

Wen Ran pressed the answer button, her voice coming out soft and gentle.

“Ranran, Ah Kai said he rushed to the accident site, leaving you alone. Where are you now? I’ll have Qing Feng come get you.”

Mo Xiuchen’s deep and magnetic voice came through, tinged with displeasure.

Wen Ran smiled lightly, soothingly saying, “Mo Xiuchen, don’t worry. I was about to call Qing Feng to come pick me up. Don’t let this disrupt your meeting.”

“It’s okay, I stepped outside the conference room to make this call.”

Mo Xiuchen’s tone was still somewhat heavy, clearly annoyed that Gu Kai had left Wen Ran alone.

By her side, Bai Yiyi listened to Wen Ran continually reassuring Mo Xiuchen, telling him not to worry, envy appearing in her eyes. She felt that Wen Ran was so fortunate; Mo Xiuchen’s care for her was something few men could match.

After she hung up, Bai Yiyi said enviously, “Miss Wen, your husband is really good to you.”

Wen Ran chuckled softly, thinking of Bai Yiyi’s unmarried motherhood, she didn’t dare to display her happiness too overtly, softly saying, “I’m just lucky to have met Mo Xiuchen.”

“Miss Wen, I’ve always wanted to apologize to you.” Bai Yiyi’s expression sobered, a look of regret on her face as she watched Wen Ran.

Caught still in the concern Mo Xiuchen showed for her, Wen Ran was slow to respond, asking unclearly, “Why do you need to apologize to me?”

Bai Yiyi lowered her gaze, her tone somewhat rigid, “Although I hate that man, he is still my father. The pain he caused you, I owe you an apology.”

Only then did Wen Ran understand, “Miss Bai, Fu Jingyi is Fu Jingyi; you are you. His actions have nothing to do with you, and you owe me nothing.”

In fact, she had never associated Fu Jingyi with Bai Yiyi.

Wen Ran had hated Fu Jingyi, but now, she felt it was a waste of time to hold hate and better to spend energy loving those who deserved her love. Hate had lost its meaning, why not let it go.

Since Fu Jingyi was brought up, Wen Ran decided to pass on the message he had left for Bai Yiyi, “Fu Jingyi told me to tell you that the best thing he ever did in his life was having your mother give birth to you. He is proud to have you as a daughter. He said he has neglected you, never fulfilling a father’s duties, not because he didn’t love you.”

Bai Yiyi’s eyes widened in shock, her pale face showing a mix of emotions.

Wen Ran’s voice softened, “He knew all along that the path he chose was a dead end. Because he couldn’t let go of his hatred, he spent his life seeking revenge. He was afraid he’d corrupt you, and feared one day it might bring trouble to you and your mother, that’s why he kept his distance.”

“That’s just his excuse, a man blinded by hatred, destroying his own life, what right does he have to speak of love.” Bai Yiyi’s emotions were somewhat agitated.

Li En, who was driving, glanced at her with concern and turned to look at Bai Yiyi, ultimately remaining silent.

“I can see, he still cares about you,” Wen Ran pursed her lips, her voice tinged with a trace of reminiscence, “I remember, Fu Jingyi once told me he had a daughter too, when he spoke those words, his expression was proud…”

Bai Yiyi stared blankly at Wen Ran.

“You don’t hate him?”

After all the harm Fu Jingyi had caused her—didn’t she hate him?

Wen Ran drew out a soft smile, “Back then, when I learned he acted out of revenge, I did hate him. If my father hadn’t found someone to hypnotize me, to erase my memories, perhaps I wouldn’t be able to let go now. A few months ago, when I learned I could never be a mother and couldn’t be with the man I love, I also hated.”

How could she not hate?

She was just an ordinary person with a full range of emotions, with loves and hates.

Fu Jingyi’s actions had caused her much more pain than others might imagine—he not only harmed her but almost killed the man she deeply loved.

“Perhaps, surviving the fall off the cliff made me think differently. The reason Fu Jingyi harbored a lifetime of hatred was partly because others provoked him, he believed their lies. Maybe you won’t believe this, but before the trial, I visited him and talked with him; suddenly, I felt he was quite pitiful.”

Bai Yiyi watched Wen Ran in silence, after a moment, her emotions seemed to calm, and she said softly, “Miss Wen, by letting go of hatred, you’ll certainly live a happier life.”

“Yes, I believe so too,” Wen Ran said, smiling as she nodded, “And you will be happy too.”
