Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1813: Chapter 1813: Can’t Wait That Long

Jiang Chenshi was a bit embarrassed, she laughed awkwardly and then complained to Jiang Zhiyi, ”You too, just ignore her, why get me involved? I’m old and unafraid of people calling me a shrew, but I still have to remarry, why ruin your reputation over someone like her?”

Jiang Zhiyi smiled, smiling very freely, ”Mom, wouldn’t her words be unlikely to be believed by many? Besides, I’m not planning to remarry, won’t you mind me staying home?”

She ended with a bit of a teasing tone.

Jiang Chenshi frowned, ”It’s certainly no problem to have you at home, but a woman not marrying is indeed too bitter, Zhiyi, don’t do anything foolish.”

Bai Ruozhu also felt it was a pity, although she hadn’t interacted much with Jiang Zhiyi, she quite liked Jiang Zhiyi’s temperament, such a good woman deserves her own happiness.

Jiang Zhiyi, however, gave a bitter smile, ”I can’t have children, no matter where I marry, I’d have to look at the in-laws’ face; it’s better not to marry and be carefree.”

”Nonsense, you’ve only been married for a few years, how can you say you can’t have children?” Jiang Chenshi started saying, her eyes turning red; indeed, Jiang Zhiyi hadn’t conceived after three plus years of marriage.

”Big sis, let me check your pulse.” Bai Ruozhu then stepped forward to offer.

”Yes, yes, let Ruozhu take a look at you, even if there’s something wrong, Ruozhu can cure it, don’t overthink it.” Jiang Chenshi’s eyes brightened, looking at Bai Ruozhu with a gaze full of hope.

Jiang Zhiyi didn’t refuse and amiably let Bai Ruozhu check her pulse; Bai Ruozhu quickly withdrew her hand.

”Big sis’s body isn’t a problem, just hasn’t been sleeping well lately, a bit of heart fire which doesn’t affect conception.” Bai Ruozhu said.

Jiang Chenshi exclaimed, ”Great, Zhiyi, didn’t you hear Ruozhu say you have no problem? Ruozhu is the palace’s chief female doctor, her medical skills are superb, can’t be wrong!”

”Well...” Jiang Zhiyi was somewhat happy; what woman doesn’t want her own children? But she was also at a loss, if nothing is wrong, why hadn’t she conceived even after being married for over three years?

”Two possibilities.” Bai Ruozhu extended two fingers, ”The first is your former husband has issues, the second is your children’s fate hasn’t arrived yet; I haven’t seen him, so I can’t fully confirm.”

Jiang Zhiyi shook her head, ”He shouldn’t have issues, earlier his concubine was pregnant, he wouldn’t leave with me for that reason.”

Jiang Chenshi snorted coldly, ”Who knows if it’s his seed, such things aren’t unheard of.”

Bai Ruozhu chuckled, her aunt was somewhat sharp-tongued, but looking at it differently, she could be seen as having clear likes and dislikes. Now she’s surely muttering about Kong Xunwu’s incapability of seeding, and even saying the child in his concubine’s womb isn’t his seed.

”Hmph, Kong Xunwu said he kept giving his concubine this medicine, yet somehow she got pregnant; I thought he was making excuses for himself, thinking now, it’s entirely possible his concubine secretly had an affair and didn’t take the medicine, so she got pregnant, isn’t it?” Jiang Chenshi’s eyes sparkled, her lingering grievances seemed to vanish too.

Jiang Zhiyi shook her head, ”Whatever it is, it doesn’t concern me with him anymore.”

”Then big sis, just eat well, sleep well, don’t overthink, eventually the one truly meant for you will appear.” Bai Ruozhu said smilingly.

Jiang Zhiyi was a bit stunned, knowing Bai Ruozhu was reminding her not to overthink, she quickly blushed and nodded.

No matter how indifferent she acted, letting go of three plus years of feelings wasn’t something she could do instantly; she often thought of him, even cried herself awake in her dreams, but she wouldn’t turn back, better to learn to let go.

Jiang Chenshi gave her eldest daughter a worried look, no matter how carefree her eldest daughter seemed, as a mother who knows her daughter, she understood her eldest daughter wrote the separation letter with Kong Xunwu to save him, not wanting him to stay in the capital and be blamed by King Rui, but she would never agree to her daughter returning to him, a son-in-law who let his concubine have an illegitimate child, the Jiang family absolutely wouldn’t accept!

Bai Ruozhu chatted with them a while longer, then took her leave as Jiang Zhihe and his wife went out shopping, she didn’t meet them. From what Jiang Chenshi said, the couple had a great relationship, saying they went shopping was actually Yu Chenghua taking Jiang Zhihe for a stroll to lift his spirits.

When Bai Ruozhu returned home and inquired, she found out Gai Yalai returned early to her room, never stepped out, seemed frightened deeply, by dinner time, the nanny suddenly came saying Gai Yalai had a fever.

Bai Ruozhu pursed her lips, not wanting to see Gai Yalai, so she said to Guoguo, ”Go have a look at her, treat her well.”

”Sure.” Guoguo pouted, he disliked Gai Yalai, wanting to take the opportunity to punish her, but since the master said ”treat her well,” he dared not act recklessly.

However, that didn’t stop Guoguo from causing minor discomforts, like prescribing especially bitter medicine, making Gai Yalai vomit from drinking it, yet after vomiting, she had to drink it again, wearing her out. Although the medicine was effective, bringing her fever down by midnight.

Because of this incident, Gai Yalai calmed down temporarily.

Two days later, Bai Ruozhu and Zhou Zhou routinely visited Ji Ziyan for treatment, Ji Ziyan was improving, above chest could now move, just his arms were weak.

The two were about to start acupuncture when noises came from the yard, someone jumped in!

Jianqi immediately attacked the intruder, who then said to Bai Ruozhu, ”Call off your men, I don’t want to fight you now!”

It was Zhou Jue, indeed unable to let go of Ji Ziyan.

Bai Ruozhu signaled to Jianqi then said to Zhou Jue, ”Stand over there, don’t move, or my men will attack again.”

Zhou Jue stretched his neck and glanced at Ji Ziyan in the room, looking a bit pained.

”How much longer until he’s well?” he asked with a hoarse voice.

Ji Ziyan suddenly shouted from the room, ”Get out, my family doesn’t welcome you!”

”I’ll leave after I finish talking, don’t be agitated.” Zhou Jue’s voice wasn’t loud, even carried a bit of pleading.

Bai Ruozhu glanced at Gao Zhou, seeing him surprised, thinking likely no one had seen Zhou Jue like this before.

”Still need ten more acupuncture sessions, roughly a month.” Bai Ruozhu replied.

Zhou Jue looked at Bai Ruozhu, ”If you can cure him, our grievances will be settled, regardless of cowpox or whatever, I won’t come after you anymore.”

Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes at him, ”Even without your conditions, I’d cure him.”

”Thank you.” Zhou Jue said muffled, but very earnestly, surprising Bai Ruozhu and Gao Zhou again.

”But I can’t wait that long, I want to take him away with me, even if he hates me forever, I must take him away! Staying here might be dangerous for him, then I’d be powerless to protect him.” Zhou Jue added.

Ji Ziyan suddenly grabbed the nearby cup of water and threw it, but because his arms were weak, the cup didn’t even reach the floor beneath the bed, spilling water onto his bedding.
