Chapter 1193: Chapter 1195: You Just Want to Kill Me_1

The two guards carrying Elder Jiang Ge didn’t care whether he fainted or not. However, Jiang Xuexiang was quite frightened; he immediately turned his head toward Bai Ruozhu and shouted, ”Ruozhu, come quickly and see, Grandpa has fainted!”

A chorus of alarmed cries rose as everyone rushed toward Elder Jiang Ge, creating a chaotic scene. Only Jiang Yichun, holding Little Dengdeng, stood still, appearing completely indifferent to the situation.

Bai Ruozhu darted over like a gust of wind, and though nobody saw how she ran, she somehow arrived ahead of everyone else. Jiang Xuebin and Dou Ning exchanged glances, both recognizing that Bai Ruozhu knew Martial Arts.

”With me here, Grandpa won’t come to harm,” Bai Ruozhu said as she pressed a few Acupuncture points on Elder Jiang Ge’s body. Without even needing to use a Needle, Elder Jiang Ge regained consciousness.

Seeing that there was no danger, everyone sighed in relief. It was then that they realized that Jiang Xuexiang had just treated Bai Ruozhu as his mainstay. This caused Mrs. Dou to purse her lips and grumble, ”The Old Master’s illness isn’t cured yet; he might get upset again because of this.”

”Quickly carry Grandpa to a warmer Room and add a brazier. We can’t let this late spring chill affect him,” Bai Ruozhu said, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned, ”We, the younger generation, can’t bear to see the elderly suffer. Grandpa should appreciate our filial piety.

They like to use the word ’filial’ to control us, don’t they? Well, then she would treat them with their own medicine.

Elder Jiang Ge was so angry that he cursed out loud, but cursing was of no use. His Thatched Cottage had turned to Ruins, and he had no choice but to temporarily stay in the Boss’s Yard.

”Uncle, I’ll leave Grandpa in your care. I’m going to prepare his medicine,” Bai Ruozhu said to Jiang Xuexiang.

Jiang Xuexiang then remembered that Bai Ruozhu and her party had started working without even settling into the Jiang Residence yet, and he suddenly felt apologetic. Hastily, he said, ”After you’ve written the Formulas, just tell the steward to arrange for someone to prepare the Decoction. You should get settled in first; there’s much to tidy up.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”No worries, let the others take care of tidying up. Grandpa’s illness is the priority, and I’ll personally prepare the medicine, which will ensure a better effect.”

Jiang Xuexiang showed a look of approval and nodded, ”Then thank you for your hard work.”

Mrs. Dou, disdainful, scoffed and muttered, ”Now she starts caring about the Old Master. She used to upset him all the time before.”

Dou Yun quickly tugged at her mother, signaling her not to say such irritating words. Bai Ruozhu pretended not to hear, letting them say whatever they wanted, as long as she and Achun felt content in their hearts.

Afterward, the group split into two. Jiang Xuexiang and the others went to settle the Old Master, while Bai Ruozhu went to prepare the medicine. Jiang Yichun arranged for the servants to tidy up, and holding Little Dengdeng, followed Bai Ruozhu to the Kitchen.

The Jiang Residence didn’t have many servants to begin with, and there were only one kitchen maid and one maid of all work in the Kitchen. They quickly hid themselves at the sight of Bai Ruozhu and her husband approaching, apparently fearful due to Bai Ruozhu’s dismantling of the Old Master’s Thatched Cottage.

Bai Ruozhu took some ready-made Herbal medicine out of her Medical Box, then cleaned the pots and began Decoction for Elder Jiang Ge.

”Are you really doing this yourself? I can’t bear to see you work so hard; what makes him deserve this?” Jiang Yichun said with displeasure.

Bai Ruozhu gave him a reproachful glance and looked around before whispering, ”How can we leave if his illness doesn’t improve?”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yichun quieted down, but he still felt somewhat dissatisfied and haughtily humphed, ”You sure call him ’Grandpa’ quite smoothly.”

Bai Ruozhu glared at him fiercely and splashed the water in her hand into his face, saying, ”Who am I doing this for, huh? Besides, my grandpa has been such a bastard, and it’s not like I haven’t been calling him that for years. What’s a little more? And look at that sour face of yours, he’s the one who took a big loss, why are you the one getting angry?”

Thinking about how the Old Master had been so mad that even his beard twitched, Jiang Yichun’s eyes also began to twinkle with amusement, the incident had indeed been satisfying.

”Hmph, doesn’t he love to act like he’s all incorruptible and upright? Well, I won’t let him pretend. You’d better cooperate with me,” Bai Ruozhu said with a laugh, thinking about how she was going to deal with that pretentious old man. She felt that moving to the Jiang Residence might not be so bad after all.

”You shouldn’t have to worry about these things,” Jiang Yichun said, showing a hint of shame as if marrying him had caused her constant anxiety and forced her to endure hardships for his sake.

Bai Ruozhu laughed and took his arm, saying, ”Men take care of external affairs, women manage the household. How could you show your face in such domestic struggles? Wouldn’t that tarnish my father’s tall and handsome image?”

This time, Jiang Yichun burst into laughter. Little Dengdeng in his arms reached out to scratch his face, giggling, ”Daddy, handsome.”

Jiang Yichun’s laughter grew even more joyous at this.

The kitchen maid Li Fatty Auntie and the rough maid Xiaoqing, who were hiding outside the kitchen, couldn’t hear the conversation of the two inside, only the laughter of Jiang Yichun and his son. Li Fatty Auntie asked curiously, ”What’s going on inside? Why are they so happy?”

”Who knows? But having a child in the residence sure does liven things up,” Xiaoqing was an honest and straightforward girl who particularly liked children.

Li Fatty Auntie gave her a look, ”Don’t go spreading that kind of talk around. If the other masters hear it, you’ll be in deep trouble.”

Xiaoqing shrank her neck, not quite understanding why she would be in deep trouble, but she knew that Li Fatty Auntie was all bark and no bite, saying such things surely for her benefit.

Bai Ruozhu, her husband, and their child nestled in the kitchen, carrying on with laughter and even starting to play games with Little Dengdeng, who kept chuckling nonstop. After two hours, the medicine was finally ready. Bai Ruozhu carefully filtered out the ephemera and packed the decoction into a container, ready to deliver it to Elder Jiang Ge.

”It’s just a common cold medicine with some calming agents, isn’t that a bit slow?” Jiang Yichun, who was knowledgeable in medicine, recognized at a glance what Bai Ruozhu’s medicine was.

”You didn’t take Elder Jiang Ge’s pulse, and you don’t even want to spare him a second glance. Despicable as he may be, he has quite a strong constitution. In fact, his ailment isn’t incurable or severe; it’s just as I said, his living conditions are poor, and getting cold is causing his condition to recur. But he’s old after all, and if he’s bedridden much longer, even his strong constitution will wear down,” she explained and then slyly smiled. ”So a cold medicine is enough. As for the calming agent, I just want some quiet for the next couple of days, to keep him from making too much fuss.”

The Jiang Residence wasn’t large, and while talking, they had already reached the gate of the yard where Jiang Xuexiang lived. There was no need for a servant to announce their arrival, and Bai Ruozhu walked straight in. Upon entering, they heard Elder Jiang Ge’s scolding—he really had a powerful voice, having been scolding for over two hours!

Bai Ruozhu cleared her throat, carried the container, and walked into the room saying to Jiang Xuexiang, ”Uncle, Grandpa’s medicine is ready...”

Her words were cut short by Elder Jiang Ge’s roaring interruption.

”I won’t take your medicine; you just want to kill me!”
