Chapter 1173: Chapter 1175: Find a Way to Escape_1

Walking on the road to Cining Palace, His Majesty’s close attendant Wang Shun cautiously said, ”Madam Jiang, the Divine Doctor has returned, claiming he can cure Consort Le’s illness, and His Majesty has already let him treat her, you...”

”It’s fine, I don’t mind,” Bai Ruozhu interrupted him.

After all, she wasn’t an ancient; she wouldn’t feel like she’d lost face. In modern times, it’s quite common to have multiple doctors consulting on a case. She didn’t mind the Divine Doctor detoxifying Consort Le. Best if the Divine Doctor could take over this matter so she could leave the palace sooner and take another trip to Wucang Mountain.

Seeing that Bai Ruozhu truly didn’t mind, Wang Shun secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The Emperor didn’t care whether Bai Ruozhu minded or not, but Wang Shun knew that the Empress Dowager would be worried.

Sure enough, upon arriving at Cining Palace, the Empress Dowager’s face immediately showed a color of apology upon seeing Bai Ruozhu. Knowing her thoughts, Bai Ruozhu paid her respects and said, ”I have always wanted to find an opportunity to learn from the Divine Doctor, and today I finally found that chance.”

The Empress Dowager, seeing that Bai Ruozhu was not displeased, finally put her mind at ease this time.

”Just now, the Divine Doctor was praising you, saying you handled it very well in a very special way. He said he admires you immensely,” the Empress Dowager said as she pulled Bai Ruozhu’s hand and walked towards the Side Hall where Consort Le was staying.

Bai Ruozhu nodded slightly. It seemed the Divine Doctor was a forthright person.

Upon reaching Consort Le’s residence, Bai Ruozhu saw an old man in plain clothes talking to the Emperor. The old man had white hair but stood tall and straight, the picture of health.

Noticing someone coming in, the old man turned his head and looked over. The eyes at the corners were wrinkled but sharply black and white, showing no signs of old age.

It was said that the Divine Doctor insisted on not accepting any sinecure that the Emperor offered him, so he held no official position and always called himself a commoner, wearing a simple cloth robe.

The old man before her was undoubtedly the Divine Doctor. For some reason, Bai Ruozhu was reminded of Ling Shan, who had been taken in by Zhou Jue.

”This young friend must be Doctor Bai, right? I, Zheng Yourong, extend my greetings.” It was the Divine Doctor who greeted Bai Ruozhu first, giving her full respect and not belittling her for being a woman.

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly sidestepped to return the courtesy, ”Senior Doctor, please don’t be so formal. It is I, a humble woman, who should salute you.”

The Divine Doctor smiled very kindly, which improved Bai Ruozhu’s impression of him markedly.

”Medical skills do not discriminate by age or seniority. Your injection method has greatly impressed this old man and has provided me with much inspiration. Today, I am the one learning,” said the Divine Doctor, bowing with hands clasped, truly grateful to Bai Ruozhu.

This made Bai Ruozhu feel somewhat embarrassed. She quickly said, ”Where did that come from, senior? What I did was just a little trick. After all, my medical skills are not perfect; I still do not have a complete method of detoxification. I should learn adamantly from you.”

The Divine Doctor waved his hand and said, ”I don’t have any particularly good methods myself; I just have the advantage of a treasure.”

Saying this, he took out a delicate wooden box and opened it right in front of Bai Ruozhu, revealing six needles inside that looked like they were made of white jade.

Bai Ruozhu’s heartbeat involuntarily quickened. Could this be the legendary Shen Nong’s jade needles? It must be! Otherwise, what kind of jade could make such fine needles that wouldn’t break during acupuncture?

”Do you recognize these, young friend Bai?” the Divine Doctor asked with a look of surprise.

Bai Ruozhu quickly suppressed the shock in her heart and said, ”I do not recognize it. I am just amazed that needles can be made from jade and that they can be made so fine. I wonder where our senior found such a skilled craftsman?”

She had seen the Shen Nong Jade Marrow Needles in the ”Poison Classic” from her previous life but she had always thought it was a legend until she had seen this set of needles just now. The words ”Shen Nong Jade Marrow Needles” naturally popped into her head. Of course, she couldn’t tell the Medical Saint that she recognized them. The matter of the ”Poison Classic” was something she could not let others know about, so it was better to remain cautious.

With a playful smile, the Medical Saint did not pressure her with more questions, but instead pointed to the needles in the box and said, ”It is said that this set of needles was crafted by Shen Nong before the Great Wilderness, made not from ordinary white jade but from the marrow of aged jade. It can calm the spirit and soul, expel all poisons. When I say it can detoxify Consort Le, it’s also thanks to the light of this set of needles.”

The emperor was also looking at the set of needles with a curious face. Before Bai Ruozhu had arrived, the Medical Saint had not discussed much with the emperor.

”This is too miraculous, actually a relic from Shen Nong, I have truly broadened my horizons today,” Bai Ruozhu said, her eyes shining. She really liked them more and more as she looked, but it was a pity such a wonderful treasure was not hers.

”Now that the Bai Family has also arrived, please, Medical Saint, proceed with the detoxification of Consort Le,” said the emperor.

The Medical Saint nodded and looked at Bai Ruozhu, saying, ”Thank you for your effort, young friend.”

Bai Ruozhu understood what he meant because she had previously treated Consort Le. His request for detoxification also needed her consent. With both of them present, they could discuss if any issues arose beforehand. Just for this, Bai Ruozhu’s favorable impression of the Medical Saint increased a bit more, considering how renowned yet modestly approachable he was.

She was precisely interested in witnessing the mystery of the Shen Nong Jade Marrow Needles, so naturally, she was pleased to be present.

Soon, the Medical Saint began to apply acupuncture to Consort Le, and Bai Ruozhu assisted. It was only then that she realized there is always someone better and that there are higher mountains beyond her own. She had always considered her Acupuncture Technique quite good, but compared to the Medical Saint, she seemed to lack depth.

She secretly memorized the Medical Saint’s techniques and for the first time realized that inner strength could be applied to acupuncture to achieve better effects. She had never thought of that before!

After the set of needles was administered, the Medical Saint wiped the sweat from his brow and said to the emperor, ”Consort Le’s poison needs to be slowly neutralized, too rapid an approach might harm the unborn child. I estimate it will take three more sessions for her to awaken.”

”How long will that take?” the emperor asked with some urgency in his voice, revealing that he truly cared for Consort Le as a person, not just his own flesh and blood.

”Another seven or eight days,” replied the Medical Saint.

Bai Ruozhu, listening on the side, felt a sense of urgency and pondered how to extricate herself from this matter. Now that there was hope for Consort Le, she no longer needed to worry and could go in search of Achun with peace of mind.

Just as she was thinking about how to broach the topic, the Medical Saint proactively requested her advice on the issue of intravenous infusion. She was naturally happy to share all she knew, which left the Medical Saint immensely grateful and looking at her with even greater admiration and respect.

”If all the healers in the world were as generous and open-minded as Bai, more doctors could learn more Medical Skills and better fulfill their mission to heal the world,” praised the Medical Saint.

Bai Ruozhu also felt that the decline of traditional Chinese medicine was due to poor transmission. If more people could learn medicine and not conceal advanced techniques, wouldn’t more people be saved?

An idea suddenly popped into her head: to establish a Medical Alliance and truly promote the development of medical science. But soon she couldn’t help but smile bitterly within. She couldn’t even settle her own affairs, let alone save Achun. What was the use of thinking about these grand plans?

Seeing that Consort Le was showing signs of improvement, the emperor, pleased, continued with his state affairs. Bai Ruozhu took the opportunity to ask the Medical Saint to take responsibility for Consort Le’s subsequent treatments, saying she needed to leave Capital City for a while. To her surprise, the Medical Saint readily agreed, not even asking why she needed to leave.
