Chapter 739: Chapter 741: Green Plum Princess

Not to mention Jiang Yichun, even Bai Ruozhu’s heart couldn’t help but skip a beat. Well, they had just dealt with a malicious junior sister, and now another childhood friend emerged...Little princess, would their trip to the Capital City really go smoothly this time?

She felt a little uneasy in her heart. She lowered her head and gave Jiang Yichun a side glance. He didn’t even mention it halfway through the journey. Couldn’t he at least give her some mental preparation?

”Emperor, I won’t have any involvement with other women, I am already married. She will be the one I share my life with, and I’ve said in this life, there will only be her,” Jiang Yichun declared in a deep voice.

The Emperor suddenly burst into laughter, a hint of mockery in it, as though he heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.

”Only one woman in your life? Yichun, what an idea. Bai Family, you’ll take the child and wait outside. I need to speak with Yichun alone.”

Bai Ruozhu performed a bow to the Emperor. ”Yes.” Then she picked up Dengdeng and left the room.

She knew the Emperor presumed that Jiang Yichun only said those words because she was there, if she wasn’t, he might change his attitude. The thought of the Emperor upset her a bit, but she wasn’t too worried. Even if Jiang Yichun never mentioned this, she trusted him completely.

Based on her understanding of him, if he truly had feelings for Princess Diao Bin, even after leaving the Capital, he would find a way back and would never have agreed to marry Wu Wanqing. But for these years, he never thought of returning to the capital or finding Princess Diao Bin, which already demonstrated his stance.

Of course, Princess Diao Bin and the Emperor might think that Jiang Yichun did not return due to the gap in their status. But they did not understand how strict he was with emotions. Just like if he fell in love with Bai Ruozhu, regardless if Ruozhu was a village girl or a princess, he would not easily let her go.

As soon as Bai Ruozhu stepped out of the Imperial Study Room, a palace maid led her to wait in the Side Hall. They served her tea and dimsum, treating her very politely without any neglect. She played with Dengdeng for a while and drank two cups of tea, but Jiang Yichun still hadn’t come out. Though she claimed she wasn’t worried, she was getting a bit irate.

At this moment, footsteps followed by a gentle female voice came from the doorway. ”The Emperor meeting with Brother Yichun? Why isn’t anyone else allowed in?”

One of the little eunuchs replied, ”How would this humble servant know? Master Jiang’s wife is also waiting in the Side Hall.”

The woman’s footsteps paused, clearly having stopped, but she didn’t say anything for a while, probably deep in thought.

”Where is she? Take me to meet her.” The princess’s voice was soft, devoid of arrogance and seemed to be quite amiable.

Bai Ruozhu instinctively straightened up. The situation was clear. Her romantic rival was coming, and she was a rival whose status was above her. She had to brace herself to talk to this princess.

The sound of delicate footsteps started again and a young girl dressed in palace clothes walked in. Bai Ruozhu had trouble looking away at the first glance.

Considering the content of the woman’s previous conversation and her age, it should be Princess Diao Bin whom the Emperor mentioned before.

No wonder the Emperor said that Princess Diao Bin had grown to be the most beautiful princess in the palace. The praise from the Emperor, who had seen many beauties, really did mean something.

Even Bai Ruozhu, her ”rival,” could not help but take a few extra looks and sincerely admired her beauty.

Princess Diao Bin had a perfect oval face, big round apricot eyes that seemed to harbor a spring inside, coupled with curving eyebrows and vermilion lips slightly puckered, making her look particularly sweet.

Seeing Bai Ruozhu looking at her, Princess Diao Bin did not show any discomfort. Instead, she returned a slight smile.

For a moment, it seemed like all the flowers were blooming at once. The smile of Princess Diao Bin was so sweet, coupled with a pure vibe, Bai Ruozhu found it hard to dislike her but a slight threat seemed to rise in her heart.

Such a sweet and pure woman, if she were a man, she would be moved, wouldn’t she? Bai Ruozhu thought silently.

Coming back to her senses, Bai Ruozhu quickly stood up and paid her respects, ”Concubine Bai greets the princess.”

Princess Diao Bin raised her hand slightly and said, ”No need for formalities. You are Brother Yichun’s wife, right?”

”Indeed.” Bai Ruozhu said, her heart pounding, wondering if Princess Diao Bin would hold a grudge against her.

Princess Diao Bin’s eyes dimmed somewhat as if dyed with a wisp of sorrow. She quietly checked Bai Ruozhu from top to bottom before sighing softly.

”Brother Yichun has suffered a lot since he was young, yet he stubbornly refused to seek our help. You should treat him well, so he won’t suffer anymore.” By the end, her voice choked revealing sincere concern for Jiang Yichun.

Bai Ruozhu’s throat felt dry, not knowing what to say, she simply nodded, ”Yes.”

Princess Diao Bin smiled again, although still sweet, her smile contained traces of sorrow.

”Are you planning to stay in the Capital this time?” She asked again.

”It depends on Achun.” Bai Ruozhu gave a light smile. As she mentioned ”Achun”, her tone held a hint of happiness.

Bai Ruozhu admitted that it was intentional, almost like an assertion of her territorial rights.

As expected, Princess Diao Bin’s expression dimmed, with eyes slightly reddening.

Bai Ruozhu suddenly felt a tinge of guilt. Was she bullying a lovesick girl?

Princess Diao Bin glanced at Dengdeng in Bai Ruozhu’s arms and asked, ”This is your child, right? How old is he?”

”Only seven months, at a naughty age,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Such a cute child, can I hold him?” Princess Diao Bin’s demeanor was sincere, matching her sweet image, one could hardly refuse.

While Bai Ruozhu did not dare risk her son in a game, since the opponent was a princess in the Imperial Palace, by refusing, could there be severe consequences?

As she hesitated, a voice came from outside, ”Is my wife over there?”

Princess Diao Bin quickly turned her head. The voice was Jiang Yichun’s. Even though it had been nine years since she last saw him, and his voice was no longer the one of a twelve-year-old, Princess Diao Bin somehow knew it was Jiang Yichun.

Bai Ruozhu, seeing her attention shift from Dengdeng, silently let out a sigh of relief. But, upon seeing Princess Diao Bin quickly walking towards the main gate, an excited expression on her face as she went to meet Jiang Yichun, Bai Ruozhu’s heart constricted.

The eunuch from outside replied, ”Yes, Master Jiang.”

Jiang Yichun quickly walked in, and the first person he noticed was Princess Diao Bin. His pace halted suddenly, his eyes widening a fraction, a sense of amazement flashed across them.

”Brother Yichun, you finally come back. I’ve waited for you for nine years!” Princess Diao Bin said. Tears instantly started to stream down her face, she soon started sobbing uncontrollably.

”You... are you Diao Bin?” Jiang Yichun asked. His voice was a bit hoarse, it seemed to be filled with deep emotion. His eyes did not even glance at Bai Ruozhu standing behind...
