Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 709: Chapter 711: Wu Yunfeng Comes to Demand Someone

Jiang Yichun sighed, saying, ”But does she take me for a fool? Even if I let her go, with one hand missing, will my master let us off? With her personality, how could she just let this go? She would definitely seek revenge with even greater intensity, so it’s better to...”

Bai Ruozhu nodded in agreement, rather than thinking Jiang Yichun was being too cruel, she would have drawn a line with him had he let Wu Wanqing off.

”You should act like you don’t know about this. I will discreetly dispose of the body, we cannot let my master find out.” Despite his determination, a hint of guilt flickered in Jiang Yichun’s eyes whenever he mentioned his master.

Bai Ruozhu shared his anguish and decided not to press the issue further.

Early the following morning, Wu Yunfeng suddenly paid a visit. Since Jiang Yichun was in the yard, it would not have been appropriate to leave him out in the cold, so he personally welcomed him and let him in.

Bai Ruozhu, along with her parents, retreated to other rooms, leaving the main hall to the master and the disciple, only sending a maid to serve them tea.

”Yichun, when did you come back?” Wu Yunfeng asked, all smiles before sipping his tea.

”I only arrived yesterday afternoon. I was exhausted from the journey, and I have to take care of my child, so I didn’t have time to visit you back then,” Jiang Yichun responded, sounding quite indifferent and a hint of resentment could be detected in his tones.

Wu Yunfeng chuckled awkwardly, ”I am aware of what happened. Your Junior Sister has been quite reckless. This time I let her suffer the consequences for her actions, otherwise she will never learn her lesson.”

Jiang Yichun remained silent. He had already deciphered his master’s undertones by brushing off his Junior Sister’s actions as ”naughty” and ”childish”, suggesting that they should overlook them.

Wu Yunfeng awkwardly cleared his throat, asking, ”How is the child? Has the poisonous insect poison been removed? Wanqing knows she was wrong, she is willing to remove the poison from the child.”

”There’s no need, I have already found a highly skilled person to remove the poison.” Jiang Yichun remained indifferent.

Feeling slighted, Wu Yunfeng finally lost his patience and coldly commented, ”I understand that you are greatly disgruntled with Wanqing, but after all, she is your Junior Sister. If she did something wrong, you can discipline and berate her, and I can also teach her. Give her time to improve, but you shouldn’t have arrested her. She never suffered such hardships when she was younger.”

Jiang Yichun feigned ignorance, he glanced at Wu Yunfeng querying, ”When did I arrest Junior Sister? In fact, a few days ago, she tried to abduct my son.”

Wu Yunfeng noted that Jiang Yichun expressions didn’t seem fabricated. He pondered and questioned, ”Did you not really arrest Wanqing?”

”What happened to Junior Sister?” asked Jiang Yichun.

”She was kidnapped on her way to her exile. Now, the magistrate is blaming me for not being willing to let her endure hardship, and accuses me of taking her back. But I can’t find her and I’m very worried,” Wu Yunfeng replied sternly, ”Yichun, tell me the truth, did you have anything to do with this?”

”Master, I have been busy trying to remove the poison from my child and only returned yesterday afternoon. I was so tired I could hardly stand, and all my people were handed over to the Tongzheng Secretary Office. How could I have the means to arrest anyone?” Jiang Yichun responded in earnest.

”So, was it Bai Ruozhu? I heard she is going to be the disciple of the Elder of the Commerce Association.” Wu Yunfeng narrowed his eyes and asked.

Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but laugh, ”Even if she was the Elder of the Commerce Association, it wouldn’t be that easy to snatch someone right under your nose. You should look into other people, perhaps it was done by someone who holds a grudge against you or Junior Sister.”

Although Wu Yunfeng felt hard-pressed to accept this, he didn’t have any evidence to dispute Jiang Yichun’s claims. Then he started to wonder, was it really not Jiang Yichun who kidnapped his daughter?

Jiang Yichun thought to himself that he hadn’t lied, he really hadn’t kidnapped anyone, he just... ’taken care’ of them.

Unable to find his daughter, Wu Yunfeng felt restless. He stood up to leave, but then he heard Jiang Yichun calling him from behind, ”Master, there’s something else that I’m not sure if I should mention.”

Wu Yunfeng stopped in his tracks and turned around to reply, ”Just speak up.”

”My eldest Senior Brother’s confidant found my second Senior Brother and I, he suggested that there might be more to my eldest Senior Brother’s death. You can ask my Second Senior Brother for specifics, then it will be up to you to decide whether or not you want to investigate this matter.” said Jiang Yichun, sighing after he finished speaking.

Wu Yunfeng’s eyebrows twitched, these words didn’t bode well, could it possibly be related to his daughter? However, he was busy dealing with another matter right now and didn’t follow up with further questions before briskly making his exit. Initially, he thought Jiang Yichun had captured Wanqing, unable to suppress his anger, but now that Jiang Yichun denied it, he had to reconsider everything.

Jiang Yichun looked at his master leaving with a heavy heart. He had never expected his master to be so partial towards his Junior Sister. His master’s reasoning that children could be excused for not knowing anything, convinced him more that concealing everything was the right thing to do.

When Bai Ruozhu heard that Wu Yunfeng was leaving, she peeked out from her sister-in-law’s room, scowling at Wu Yunfeng.

Wu Yunfeng felt Bai Ruozhu’s resentment and couldn’t help but think that Jiang Yichun must be telling the truth. Otherwise, if they had already captured and blamed the person responsible, why would they still be so indignant?

Only after Wu Yunfeng had left did Bai Ruozhu heaved a great sigh of relief, she had completely forgotten that she too had wanted to kill Wu Wanqing the day before. At the time, she hadn’t thought things through, she hadn’t considered what to say or do if Wu Yunfeng came looking for her, good thing Achun had planned everything out.

Standing at the door of Bai Zehao’s room, Jiang Yichun saw Bai Ruozhu and smiled at her, saying to her in a mouthing manner, ”You look so silly!”

Bai Ruozhu stuck her tongue out at him and pulled a funny face. Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but laugh. Which lady would make such unseemly faces? His wife was indeed a rare one...

That word, rare, he had learned it from Bai Ruozhu.

Jiang Yichun spent the remainder of the day working on a blueprint Bai Ruozhu had drawn, he found some wood and started making building blocks for Dengdeng. Bai Yihong came back from outside and seeing this, he was drawn to join in because of his interest in carpentry. Sometimes, he would guide Jiang Yichun here and there. He soon discovered that Jiang Yichun was a quick learner, with nimble hands who looked pretty professional while doing carpentry.

Seeing her father and her husband getting along so well, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh, saying, ”If you’re not working for the Imperial Court in the future, you could make a good carpenter.”

Jiang Yichun laughed, ”Then we can open a shop that specializes in making toys for children. You can come up with the ideas and I’ll do the grunt work. I’m sure we’ll make a fortune.”

Bai Yihong’s eyes squinted from laughing so much. His daughter and son-in-law’s relationship was indeed wonderful. It seemed his decision back then was the right one.

In the afternoon, the Bai Family received a letter from the Mountain Village. The letter was sent by Zhou Deshun, saying that he planned to bring his family to Beiyu City for a better life and work on the farm with Bai Yihong. Moreover, in the end, he didn’t divorce Zhou’s Family, and he didn’t know what Zhou’s Family had said to the Bai Family’s old master, but he had decided to wait until she had given birth to make a decision.
