Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Uncle Fu, holding the spatula, became even more joyful, ”Haha, not bad, won’t let yourself go hungry. Xiao Yu, come here, give your uncle a hand.”

Xiao Yu was a guard, and had a very good relationship with Uncle Fu as well. Upon receiving the order, guard Xiao Yu immediately entered the kitchen, happily lending a hand.

The Fu family had a total of three guards on duty this year, with Xiao Yu on shift. The other two guards had been given leave by Old Man Xia, who specially went to the guard company to ask the company commander for a one-month annual leave for the guards who hadn’t been home for four years. When Ye Jian returned home, the other two guards had just left for three days.

Chief Engineer Fu, with a chill in his body, vigorously rubbed Ye Jian’s head. My, his precious daughter was so happy her eyes were all but invisible, ”Dad will go upstairs to change clothes first. I’ve been at the base for half a month and left directly with my luggage. This smell on me, I’m afraid it might smoke you out.”

Once in the lab, sometimes busy for ten days or a half month, hygiene time was truly squeezed out for the sake of experiments.

It was precisely because of researchers like Chief Engineer Fu who worked tirelessly, even putting their health aside, that our country’s military strength grew stronger year by year.

”Alright, alright, go change your clothes, don’t smoke out Jian girl,” Old Man Xia’s smile never left his face, ”After you change, it’ll be just in time for dinner.”

Chief Engineer Fu responded and when he went up the stairs, he took several steps in one stride, going up the stairs quickly to wash up; his silhouette radiating joy no matter how you looked at it.

Ye Jian was always smiling. How nice it was that the family could celebrate the New Year together, now only big brother was missing. She would call her brother’s mobile phone later to see if she could reach him.

”I just don’t know when your brother will be back. He shouldn’t suddenly have something preventing him from returning, right?” Old Man Xia also thought of Li Jinnian, and couldn’t help but mention it. These past few days, he had been looking forward to his son and granddaughter returning for the New Year, and had not even made a phone call to ask if his grandson could truly make it home this year.

”I’ll send a message to my brother later to ask. If he can make it, he should be home in these next two days,” Ye Jian said smilingly, her entire being exuding the scent of happiness, ”Then our family will really have a reunion New Year.”

”Hahaha, yes, yes, after dinner you contact him and see,”

”Okay, Grandpa, you take a seat first, don’t stand there.”

”I’ve been sitting all day; it’s good to stand.”

”Then let me help you, just now you were telling me not to fall, but you are the one who should really be careful.”

”How about we ask your brother now?” The grandfather who was concerned about his grandson abroad still wanted to confirm early, ”When he sees your message, he will definitely call back right away.”

Ye Jian immediately took out her mobile phone from her pocket and swiftly sent a text message, not sure if her big brother’s phone was with him, but if he could see the message, he would likely call back.

Just after the text message was sent, before Ye Jian could put her phone back in her pocket, it vibrated. Both granddaughter and grandfather burst into laughter.

”It must be your brother!” Old Man Xia was so happy that he hurriedly sat down on the sofa, ”You answer the phone, you answer the phone.”

It was indeed Li Jinnian calling. He was about to turn off his phone as he had just boarded the plane, but upon seeing the message, he truly called Ye Jian back immediately.

A cool and distant voice came through, ”Are you also at home for the New Year?” There was a hint of hard-to-detect joy; the usually reserved man was rarely so expressive of his own emotions.

After glancing at Ye Jian’s text message, he was almost certain that Ye Jian was at home at that moment.
