Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Old Madam wanted to hear Ye Jian’s voice, and as soon as Xia Jinyuan said it was Ye Jian calling, she signaled him to put it on speaker. Hearing Ye Jian’s thoughtful words, Old Madam laughed until she couldn’t close her mouth, saying again and again, ”Girl, your grandparents don’t need any company, let Little Six keep you company. It’s rare for you two to meet, your grandparents can’t monopolize Little Six.”

Old Madam’s kindly voice came through the phone, and Ye Jian was still a little nervous. Both Old Madam and the old master were very kind. Ye Jian greeted the two elders’ health with poise first. Old Madam and the old master smiled around the phone, exchanging intimate words with Ye Jian.

”You, it’s rare for you to be home for family festivities. If I remember correctly, this is only the second time you’ve spent New Year’s at home. Last time, you left on either the second or third day of the New Year. Little Ye, don’t worry about Grandma Xia or Grandpa Xia, we’re both in good health. You don’t have to worry, just keep your grandpa company and have a happy New Year.”

”Your fifth brother said he’s tidying up the horse farm today; he’ll invite you all to play tomorrow. If you have time, go have fun; if not, after the New Year is also fine. Ten days of holiday should be enough.”

Commander Xia really liked the righteous spirit Ye Jian possessed and even those clear, glass-like pure black eyes. He always told Old Madam that such pure eyes only belonged to the best of children, and if Little Six could marry Little Ye as his wife, it would be a great fortune for the Xia family.

As the head of the family, Commander Xia had a keen eye for people, and if he said so, he was naturally not wrong.

Old Madam was also sharp in judging people. The first time she saw Ye Jian, she had already decided Ye Jian would be her granddaughter-in-law. Now seeing that Xia Jinyuan and Ye Jian were affectionate despite the long distance, the two elders were relieved and did not want to hold up the couple’s reunion by keeping them company.

For them, reunions were too difficult, and as elders, they had to be understanding.

On the other side, Ye Jian, nodding continuously, said, ”I’m preparing to visit the New Year’s market to do some shopping. My father and my brother are both coming home this year. Indeed, it’s going to be a joyous New Year. Grandpa Xia, Grandma Xia, my brother and I will pay a New Year’s visit to you two elders together later.”

”Hahaha, very good, very good. When you and your brother come over, our house will be even more lively,” Old Madam was delighted, laughing while Xia Jinyuan made quiet gestures with his fingers, checking to see how deep the smile wrinkles at the corner of Old Madam’s eyes were.

Then, pretending to be jealous, he said, ”Your grandson is right here, right here. Please spare a few glances, if you would?”

”Go on, don’t be an obstruction,” Old Madam Xia pushed away the head that Xia Jinyuan was leaning in with and continued to chat with Ye Jian, laughing heartily. The two elders set the phone down on the table and sat to each side, looking as if they could chat with Ye Jian for hours over the phone.

Old Man Xia watched with a chuckle.

Ye Jian was going to marry into the Xia family, and having a good relationship with the elders of the Xia family meant happiness for Ye Jian, and it made Old Man Xia even more at ease.

Knowing that Ye Jian was going to purchase New Year’s goods, Commander Xia and Old Madam chatted for about ten minutes before talking with Old Man Xia on this side, while Ye Jian went to the market with Uncle Fu.

The Spring Festival was drawing near. Streets everywhere were adorned with festive décor, and everyone was busy preparing to celebrate this reunion holiday, smiles on everyone’s faces. And all of this was because of the stability of the country.

The country’s stability was safeguarded by Ye Jian and the countless comrades-in-arms. Ye Jian had always been proud to be a soldier. She never regretted choosing this path, never regretted becoming a soldier, a Special Forces operative.
