Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Old Man Xia had been in the air force, Ye Jian was in the army, Uncle Fu had once been an air force quartermaster, and the security staff were Chinese military police. After finishing their song, Old Man Xia burst into laughter, ”When your brother comes back, our family will have the sea, land, air, and military forces all represented!”

Wiping the stair handrail all the way from the second floor to the first, Ye Jian, smiling brightly, added, ”Wrong, Grandpa, there’s also the tactical police. Have you forgotten Niannian?”

”Hahaha, yes, yes, yes, girl, give Niannian a call and ask if she has time to come over to our house. When your brother is home, we should invite Niannian more often.”

Old Man Xia genuinely liked Zhou Niannian’s personality; she was like a little sun, perfectly warming up their family’s icy exterior grandson. One was warm like sunlight, the other as steady as a mountain, an ideal match!

Years had passed, and Old Man Xia hadn’t given up his initial thoughts.

Ye Jian also wanted to invite Zhou Niannian over, but while wiping a vase with several branches of Red Plum in it, she asked unsurely, ”I don’t know if Niannian has a boyfriend; if she does, it might be inconvenient.”

”If she has a boyfriend, then Grandpa will stop thinking about it. None at all, Grandpa has been paying attention,” Old Man Xia, although retired and at home, still had connections. Old Man Xia, who never used these connections, had specially asked someone to keep an eye out for Zhou Niannian’s situation for his grandson Li Jinnian’s lifelong happiness.

Knowing Zhou Niannian didn’t have a boyfriend, Old Man Xia was relieved.

Ye Jian admired Old Man Xia’s foresight deeply and performed a salute from the TV shows, pressing one fist in the palm of the other hand, and bowed to Old Man Xia from afar.

Old Man Xia, now in good health and with a younger mindset, responded in kind to Ye Jian and, like an erudite hermit, said with a smile, ”Don’t admire me too much, Grandpa has eaten more salt than the water you’ve drunk. This matter won’t stump Grandpa.”

Uncle Fu listened and could not help bursting out a laugh, though he didn’t have the heart to embarrass Old Man Xia.

Indeed, such matters would never vex Old Man Xia; the key was that he had never used his connections to handle family affairs in his life. Concerned about gathering information on Miss Zhou Niannian, Old Man Xia thought it over for three nights and discussed it with Old Master Qin for half a day before making that call.

In Old Man Xia’s words, for his grandson’s happiness, he was willing to put his old face on the line!

The hands-off Old Man Xia just needed one phone call, and the person at the other end expressed joy the following day by visiting to say that doing a small task for Old Man Xia was his honor.

Zhou Niannian indeed had no boyfriend because she was always waiting for someone, waiting for that person to take more initiative, just a bit more effort, and she would definitely turn into a fireball to give that fellow a good searing, then slowly roast and handle him afterward.

In four days, it would be Chinese New Year’s Eve. Uncle Fu was preparing to go out to buy some food supplies needed for the New Year, along with some fresh fruits and gifts for New Year’s visits. Ye Jian, expressing great interest, felt that as a member of the family, she should also be involved in preparing the New Year goods, so she went along with Uncle Fu, and, worried about Xia Jinyuan visiting and finding no one, she specially made a phone call.

Xia Jinyuan was having breakfast with Old Master Xia and Old Madam Xia, on hearing this, he put down his chopsticks and smiled, ”That’s a good idea, we can go to the horse farm tomorrow. Let’s go buy New Year goods today.”

He wanted to continue to spend time with Ye Jian, but Ye Jian quickly said, ”No, no, no, you should stay with Grandpa Xia and Grandma Xia. I haven’t even visited the two elders since coming home, and yet I’m always monopolizing their grandson, which isn’t nice.”
