The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

”Nervous?”

Carson Flores chuckled softly, ”If you bore hostility toward me, there would be no need to say it out loud. You would have already made a move. Since you brought it up first, it indicates you’re not planning to do anything.”

”Previously, you said something to me that seemed loaded with meaning, and I was perplexed at the time about why you’d say that, but now it’s clear. Looks like you recognized my identity long ago.”

”If you really wanted to deal with me, you could have informed Avidan Hartman of my identity on Immortal Gathering Island. Why wait until now to mention it?”

”Besides, I’m treating you to food and drinks. Wouldn’t it be a bit awkward to attack me at that moment?”

Nerisse Blaine was amused by Carson Flores’s last sentence. ”You’re absolutely right. Since I’m only bringing it up now, it means I have no intention of making you my enemy. After all, you’re my savior. If I were to attack you, wouldn’t that be ungrateful?”

Carson Flores felt relieved hearing Nerisse Blaine confirming his suspicions.

While he didn’t fear Nerisse Blaine, he didn’t want conflict with her either.

Besides, such a beauty—who wouldn’t want to be friends with her?

Why go to such lengths to fight?

”You’re the Saintess of the Separation Sea Sect, one of the Twelve Immortal Gates. Aren’t you worried about being blamed for ignoring a fugitive hunted by the Myriad Immortals Palace?”

Nerisse Blaine smiled charmingly and pointed to Theo, who was happily munching on a large piece of roast, her eyes cunning. ”It’s not that I don’t want to act, but there’s nothing I can do against you. Forget about your strength. Just Theo is enough to cost me my life. I’m only protecting myself.”

Carson Flores couldn’t help but laugh, ”Alright, that reason is truly flawless!”

Nerisse Blaine stared at Carson Flores’s face, ”The face I’m seeing now is fake. What does the real you look like then?”

Carson Flores smiled, ”Definitely more handsome than now.”

Nerisse Blaine grinned, ”Won’t you let me see?”

Carson Flores explained, ”I’ve used medicine on my face; it can’t recover immediately. But if you want to see my appearance, that’s quite simple.”

Carson Flores casually used a spell to project an image of his true self.

Nerisse Blaine glanced a few times and laughed, ”Not bad looking, indeed much more pleasing than the current face.”

Carson Flores dispelled the spell and raised his wine glass, ”I have no choice. As a fugitive of the Myriad Immortals Palace, there are many who wish to capture me. If I didn’t change my face, I couldn’t dare attend the Gathering Immortals Assembly.”

Nerisse Blaine praised, ”You truly are bold.”

Carson Flores asked, ”You didn’t know me. How did you guess it was me?”

Nerisse Blaine smiled and explained, ”It was actually coincidental. Previously, I attended an event in Eastern Radiance and heard a curious tale about Starry Sky Magical Beasts. The storyteller was a disciple from the White Magpie Sect. They quarreled with disciples from Green Bird City. The White Magpie Sect disciple mocked the Green Bird City for tailoring clothes for others and tricking others.”

”Due to your fugitive notice, they all recognized that the one who traveled with the Starry Sky Magical Beast, pretending to be the True Sage Grand Void’s servant, was you. When you mentioned seeing a Starry Sky Magical Beast before, I was unsure, but I wasn’t convinced. Later, when you said you released the Starry Sky Magical Beast’s seal and saved it, things lined up perfectly, so I confirmed you were Carson Flores.”

Carson Flores suddenly understood. He never thought that an incident from long ago would lead to his identity being exposed.

”And, of course, other aspects of your behavior; despite being incredibly powerful, you remain remarkably low-key. When others mocked your luck for obtaining a Convoker Token, you didn’t get upset in the slightest. Yet you could decisively refuse the Separation Sea Sect’s invitation and the Immortal Gathering Island’s offer—an opportunity not every Loose Cultivator would reject.”

”Earlier, when we were leaving, wasn’t I holding your arm? Though I didn’t probe, I still felt that your bones were unlike an ordinary Cultivator’s. The Carson Flores wanted by the authorities is known for his Sword Bone, which matches up again.”

Carson Flores smiled wryly; Nerisse Blaine was remarkably attentive.

She managed to uncover such revealing details about him. But upon further thought, it was because he saved her and subsequently grew closer, experiencing more together, that she discovered his identity.

If he’d kept his distance, she could never have known who he really was.

Carson Flores praised, ”You’re too meticulous. You guessed all that. Impressive, impressive!”

Nerisse Blaine smiled, ”We’ve been around each other for a while now. You’re a good person and a gentleman. How could you have followed Snow Zane to kill so many people? Could it be that Snow Zane did all the killing and you were merely caught in the crossfire?”

Before Carson Flores could reply, Nerisse Blaine added, ”Most important after the Snow Zane incident, you weren’t immediately wanted. Years later, an individual warrant was placed on you. Just what did you do? Also, why was Snow Zane opposing the Myriad Immortals Palace and killing so many?”

Carson Flores looked at Nerisse Blaine, ”Why is a woman like you so curious? Knowing these things won’t do you any good.”

Nerisse Blaine smiled, ”Wouldn’t be a woman without being curious, right? Don’t worry, I can keep a secret. I can swear to it, alright? Just tell me about it.”
