The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 2051: Chapter 2051: Home Is Where My Heart Finds Peace

”Mary...”

”Yes.”

Shirley Miller nodded, looking at Carson Flores who seemed a bit uncomfortable, her gaze soft and smile warm: ”Sit down, why are you standing?”

”Alright.”

Carson replied, sitting down beside Shirley Miller.

In the small courtyard, there were only Carson and Shirley, after discussing matters, everyone else went back to their own places, leaving space for the two who hadn’t met for a long time.

Shirley Miller stared into Carson’s eyes and chuckled: ”Why do you look like that, afraid I’ll be angry?”

Carson nodded slightly awkwardly, with more than one woman by his side, his guilt towards Shirley was the deepest.

Because of guilt and remorse, he feared Shirley would be angry.

Shirley reached out and held Carson’s hand, pursing her lips with a smile: ”Alright, if you’re afraid I’ll be angry, that means you still have me in your heart.”

Carson affirmed: ”Of course I do, no one can compare to your place in my heart.”

Shirley chuckled: ”You can say this in private, but not outside.”

Seeing Shirley’s full smile, the tension and anxiety in Carson’s heart eased a bit.

”I’m telling the truth, they all know... aren’t you mad?”

Shirley softly replied: ”To say I have no thoughts at all would be impossible, after all, with matters like this, who would feel particularly happy, right?”

Carson nodded, yes, such things, what normal woman could accept?

If it were the Immortal Realm, accustomed to a polygamous societal norm, the acceptance might be higher, but the Mortal Realm adheres to monogamy, a deeply ingrained belief, and responses to this would naturally be more intense.

”This is my fault...”

Carson’s words were gently interrupted by Shirley: ”There’s no right or wrong in love, the experiences you had with them, I generally know of, you weren’t driven by lust, you’ve all gone through life and death together, it’s during such moments that feelings beyond normal relationships are most easily formed...”

”I’ve always hoped to be able to help you, but no matter how hard I try, the enemies you face are always so strong, I’m completely unable to help, yet you’ve come this far alone, bearing great responsibilities, enduring countless dangers and hardships.”

”In some ways, I’m happy that they can help you, even though I cannot, someone can help relieve some of your pressure, so you don’t have to face everything alone.”

Shirley’s eyes were bright, her gaze tender: ”So... I understand, and I can accept, your safety is the most important, after all, for ordinary couples, being together is fifty to sixty years, maybe even shorter, but for Cultivators, it’s thousands, tens of thousands of years, even longer, there’s plenty of time to be together, isn’t there?”

”The Immortal Path is long and those who walk it alone are destined to be lonely, I don’t want us to become such people in the end, I want our journey to be a bit happier, a bit livelier, a bit warmer at heart, not lonely.”

”You were originally an ordinary person, on this journey you’ve helped many, and many have helped you, Cristopher, Sister Zi Yun, and others, we’re husband and wife, but more than that, we’re Fellow Daoists on the journey, people of like minds.”

”Everyone shares similar interests, mutual acceptance, understanding, traveling together, in some ways that’s a good thing, at least the more people, the livelier, it won’t be too lonely.”

Shirley’s tone was playful, smiling: ”You don’t need to feel guilty, or apologetic, if you really feel sorry, then give me a good hug, I haven’t seen you in ages!”

Carson was deeply moved, opened his arms, and pulled Shirley into his arms, holding her tightly.

”I don’t know how to express my feelings, I can only say, no matter what the future holds, you are the most important in my heart, irreplaceable by anyone!”

Shirley lay in Carson’s embrace, softly replied: ”I know.”

They held each other tightly, for a long time, then Shirley softly said: ”I heard you’re planning to establish a cave mansion for us in the High Immortal Realm, and then we’ll live together, never to part again?”

Carson nodded: ”Yes, the Immortal Realm is too vast, I’m tired of days separated by the ends of the earth, even if in the future we may need to travel across the world, I hope we can have a shared home.”

”Just like in the Mortal Realm, we may travel all over the world for life and work, but in our hearts, there’s a place that belongs to us, a shared home, where we look forward to returning, where we’ll find peace.”

Shirley’s eyes were bright: ”That’s wonderful, then we can be together, but won’t cultivation be delayed by this?”

Carson smiled: ”We’re still young, and already our strength is nearing Heavenly Immortal, reaching Great Land, so what if we slow down a bit, the Immortal Path is endless, there’s always a higher realm to reach, you can’t just rush to the top, besides, at higher realms, it’s about comprehension and opportunity, not easy to advance, how many haven’t advanced even once in tens of thousands of years, there’s no need for us to rush...”
