The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 743: Chapter 743 We Do Business, Relying on Friends_1

”Beast Taming Bag, huh.”

Mathias Combs shook his head and said, ”Wanting to buy one—that’s rather difficult. After all, Beast Taming Bags are one of the core items of the Beastmaster sects, and they won’t easily sell them off.”

Carson Flores was not disappointed, nodding in understanding, ”I heard it was tough too, but as you’ve seen, this pile of Snow Dragon Leopard Kings is so large, it’s really inconvenient to carry them with me when I travel. That’s why I wanted to take a look in Fierce Lion City to see if there’s a way to buy a Beast Taming Bag.”

Buying a Beast Taming Bag wasn’t anything shady—it was a legitimate need—so he could openly talk about it.

Mathias Combs had seen Dragon too and nodded in understanding, ”Indeed, with such a large size, many places aren’t suitable for bringing it along. If you had a Beast Taming Bag, it would be much more convenient. But these things are tightly controlled by the sects. Even if you have the money, it’s very difficult to buy.”

The two entered the restaurant and naturally took a seat at the same table. Mathias Combs said, ”To meet is to have fate; I’ll treat this meal. Let’s have a drink, a chat; after all, it’s too boring being alone in the room.”

Mathias Combs ordered food—a generous amount—and some wine. The two of them chatted idly while eating.

”Mr. Mathias, what kind of business do you do?”

Mathias Combs laughed, ”You might look down on me when I tell you, brother Carson, but I deal in contraband goods.”

Carson Flores asked out of curiosity, ”What’s that?”

Mathias Combs explained, ”Simply put, fencing. In this world, whether it’s the Sky Pirates’ killings and robberies, personal vendettas, or even tomb raiding, there’s always a lot of items that can’t see the light of day. These items can be difficult to unload within certain regions and can easily be traced back. This merchandise is thus called contraband.”

”With the existence of contraband, the contraband traders naturally emerged. We purchase these unseemly goods at a lower price and resell them through our own channels for a profit. This way, the original owners of the contraband avoid the trouble of exposure and directly exchange the goods for Spirit Stones, while the contraband traders make a profit, and the clients get what they want.”

Carson Flores quickly understood—no wonder Mathias Combs said he traveled all over. How could he not travel extensively doing fencing business?

The simplest form of fencing is to sell the contraband from the east to the west and vice versa. With so many cities thousands of miles apart, who could trace it once sold?

Carson Flores laughed, ”That must be quite a lucrative industry.”

Mathias Combs modestly replied, ”You flatter me, brother Carson. We’re just earning a bit of money on the side.”

After drinking a couple of glasses, Mathias Combs started inquiring about Carson Flores’s background, to which Carson Flores candidly responded, ”I’m a disciple of Nutwood Heavenly Cave’s Flying Waterfall Mountain Peak. I’ve been cultivating in seclusion for a long time and came out for a stroll.”

Mathias Combs clearly knew a lot about the various sects and laughed, ”Peak Master Cameron Hunter of Flying Waterfall Mountain Peak is formidable indeed. With a sword in hand, she’s invincible within three feet, at the Nascent Soul Great Perfection, yet she can do battle with Divinity Transformation without being at a disadvantage—an unparalleled heroine indeed, a true match for any man.”

Carson Flores raised his glass to clink with Mathias Combs’s, ”Mr. Mathias, since you deal in contraband goods, do you ever come across Beast Taming Bags in your business?”

Mathias Combs chuckled, ”Beast Taming Bags aren’t really considered contraband. They’re in high demand, and usually, they don’t have any special markings, or even if they do, they can be erased. So, you don’t need to worry about being tracked, naturally eliminating the need for our services.”

Carson Flores was a bit disappointed, but his face maintained a serene smile.

Mathias Combs glanced into Carson Flores’s eyes and suddenly laughed, ”When it comes to Beast Taming Bags, it’s all about luck. When we get to Fierce Lion City, I’ll take you to a place. If you’re lucky, you might come across one. If not, then there’s nothing that can be done.”

Carson Flores asked in surprise, ”What place?”

”The black market.”

Mathias Combs answered, ”Many of the goods from us contraband traders are sold through the black market. We couldn’t possibly maintain our relationships in every city. Typically, we concentrate on a few major cities to establish sales channels, and usually, that means running back and forth between these places.”

”Fierce Lion City is one of the cities I visit most often. Earlier, when I asked if you were from the Immortal Beast Sect, I was also thinking about making friends with you. After all, anyone who can carry around a Nascent Soul Level beast is certainly no ordinary person, and as you know, in our line of business, it’s all about friends. The more friends you have, the bigger and smoother your business will run.”

”Fierce Lion City is the territory of the Immortal Beast Sect. If there are Beast Taming Bags, they would definitely fetch a high price on the black market. But as you know, such items only appear in certain special circumstances, so whether you find one depends on luck.”

”Lastly, even if you find one, the price of a Beast Taming Bag will certainly not be low—you’ll need plenty of Spirit Stones.”

Carson Flores’s eyes lit up; having hope was better than none at all.

”How much could a Beast Taming Bag sell for in the black market?”
