She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer

Zhao Zun’s movements were gentle yet firm, as if announcing something.

Han Lei’s heartbeat involuntarily sped up, her cheeks growing ever redder. She gave up her brave struggle and merely leaned her head nervously against his chest, listening to the strong beating of his heart.

Zhao Zun’s room was large, imbued with a scholarly aroma, and arranged in a cozy yet neat manner.

Some landscape paintings hung on the walls, the shelves were filled with various books, and a few pots of greenery lined the window ledge, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

But at this moment, Han Lei had no mood to appreciate these details. Because as soon as the door closed, the atmosphere in the room immediately turned ambiguous.

Zhao Zun set Han Lei down, and just as she was about to turn and escape, Zhao Zun raised both hands and pinned her tightly against the door.

Being so close, Zhao Zun’s warm breath sprayed across Han Lei’s face. Nervously, Han Lei turned her face away, instinctively clutching her collar.

Zhao Zun said nothing, just looked down at her intensely, his gaze burning.

Yet, the fragrance on Han Lei’s body made his breathing become rapid.

”You... If you really want, I can too... it’s just...”

Han Lei lowered her head, her voice slightly trembling, tinged with unease and shyness.

With Ma Cheng and the trusted aides’ bodies barely cold in her memory, Zhao Zun, even if impatient, shouldn’t be someone without a sense of propriety. But why...

Han Lei’s mind was swirling with wild thoughts, while Zhao Zun’s mouth slightly lifted into a meaningful smile.

He lowered his head, moving in a supremely intimate manner towards Han Lei’s earlobe.

”I really want to.”

Zhao Zun’s words did not hide his emotions; his deep voice was magnetic, carrying a certain allure.

The hot breath Zhao Zun exhaled made Han Lei’s earlobe feel itchy, and hearing him speak this way, Han Lei’s heart beat even faster, she could even feel her cheeks burning as if they were on fire.

Too afraid to lift her head and meet Zhao Zun’s blazing eyes, she could only clutch her collar tightly, trying to conceal the turmoil inside her.

Although she did not agree with pre-marital matters, she was a Princess Consort personally bestowed by Emperor Jing to Zhao Zun, which was akin to having already obtained a marriage certificate protected by the Da Jing Law.

Looking at Zhao Zun’s impatient appearance, she had already attempted to persuade her frantic heart to accept Zhao Zun and take that step forward.

Little did she know, Zhao Zun’s demeanor abruptly changed.

”But not now.” Zhao Zun sighed, his voice suddenly becoming gentle, his soft lips leaving a fleeting kiss on her cheek, his gaze filled with tenderness. ”I want to wait until after I’ve given you a grand ceremony.”

Han Lei was taken aback, lifting her head, her long lashes fluttering, her eyes filled with confusion and surprise.

”But... but didn’t you just...”

Not just in front of everyone, say you couldn’t wait?

”Hehe.”

Zhao Zun chuckled softly beside her ear, deciding not to tease her anymore.

Standing upright, Zhao Zun gathered his smile, focusing seriously on Han Lei’s bright eyes.

”I simply wanted everyone to see that I was forcing you, and let them know you are already my Princess Consort. For us to privately discuss ’the plan’, we need to frequently be alone together. This way, no one can gossip behind your back.”

Only then did Han Lei understand, feeling an indescribable mix of joy and emotion.

Zhao Zun was meticulous in his thoughts. Since the day she met him in this world, Zhao Zun has always taken the initiative in taking on things that might harm her.

Zhao Zun was right; the plan must be conducted in secret until Zhao Zun’s power grows strong enough.

With her capability, she could certainly wield modern weapons and storm the Imperial Palace, but then what? What would they do after capturing the Imperial Palace?

Even with powerful modern weapons, they couldn’t act on impulse; there were many people who mattered and supported them.

Thus, many things needed careful planning, and they must coordinate discreetly. Having the status of a married couple made things somewhat easier.

Thinking of her earlier panic and fluster at Zhao Zun’s statement of ’can’t wait,’ Han Lei couldn’t help but bashfully pound Zhao Zun’s firm chest twice, her soft voice filled with reproachful affection.

”Hmph! Why didn’t you give me a heads-up beforehand? You scared me! Annoying!”

That adorable fierceness was back! Back again!

”Hehehe.”

Zhao Zun was in good spirits, grabbing her wrist and pulling her fair hand up to his lips for a kiss.
