Helping Beautiful Women Become Stronger, I Have a Love System

44: Chapter 44 Learning to Crawl Like a DogCao Kun actually brought up the boss.

And the boss actually didn’t say anything.

The meaning was already very clear.

Su Hongliang’s face instantly drained of all color, cold sweat soaking through the shirt on his back.

He looked at Cao Kun’s unquestionable gaze, then at Ji Guangli’s cold profile, and then swept his eyes around the conference room.

Everyone was looking at him, their gazes varied: some gloating, some disdainful, some sympathetic, but most were waiting to watch the show.

He knew that he couldn’t escape this ordeal today.

A strong sense of humiliation and resentment grew wildly in his heart, but at the moment, he had no choice.

”Fine... I... I’ll crawl!” Su Hongliang squeezed these words through gritted teeth, his voice hoarse, filled with endless shame and anger.

He slowly, extremely slowly, stood up from the chair, as if every joint was rusted.

Everyone held their breath, and the conference room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, with only the faint hum of the projector fan.

Su Hongliang lowered his head, not daring to look anyone in the eye, trembling, slowly bent down, and placed his hands on the cold floor.

Then, he laboriously, clumsily, began to crawl forward.

One step, two steps... his movements were as stiff as a marionette.

”Woof... woof...” He closed his eyes, squeezing out two almost inaudible, tearful barks from deep in his throat.

”Pfft—” Someone couldn’t hold back and let out a very low snicker.

This laughter seemed to flip a switch.

”Hahahaha!”

Over in Department Two, someone, no one knew who, led a burst of roaring laughter!

This laughter contained too many emotions.

The frustration of being suppressed by Department One for days, and dissatisfaction with Su Hongliang’s usual arrogant attitude.

Most colleagues from other departments also couldn’t help but laugh; although they couldn’t laugh as unrestrainedly as Department Two due to appearances, they all had upturned lips, covering their mouths to snicker, exchanging knowing glances.

The scene was simply too dramatic.

As for the people from Department One, their situation was the most awkward.

They watched their manager crawl on the ground like a dog, listening to those humiliating barks, their hearts a mix of emotions.

Some felt utterly disgraced, wishing they could find a hole to crawl into.

Some, who had long been dissatisfied with Su Hongliang’s usual arrogance, even felt a hidden sense of satisfaction at this moment.

But more than that, there was a sense of shame and fear, like a fox mourning the death of a rabbit.

With their manager in such a state, how could they ever hold their heads high in front of Department Two again?

However, there were also some who maintained an indifferent attitude.

They wanted to laugh but dared not, desperately holding it in, their faces turning red, their thighs almost bruised from pinching themselves, only able to keep their heads down, staring at their shoetips as if they were the most interesting things in the world.

Su Hongliang endured this unprecedented humiliation under the mixed gazes of laughter, snickers, and countless piercing stares.

One lap, two laps, three laps...

Every step he crawled, every bark he made, felt like countless red-hot knives cutting his flesh and gouging his heart.

The muscles on his face contorted, his eyes were bloodshot, his fingernails dug deep into the carpet, and a voice roared wildly in his heart.

”Ji Guangli! Cao Kun! You two just wait! I, Su Hongliang, will remember today’s humiliation! If I don’t get my revenge, I swear I’m not human! One day, I will make you pay it back a hundredfold, a thousandfold!”

Finally, after three laps and the last weak ”woof,” Su Hongliang collapsed to the ground like a pile of mud, drenched in sweat, his mind blank, leaving only endless shame and hatred.

Cao Kun put away his phone, clapped his hands to brush off non-existent dust, and grinned at Su Hongliang on the floor.

”Manager Su, that was tough. The gambling debt is settled.”

With that, he didn’t spare another glance for the person on the floor, turned around, and leisurely walked back to the Department Two area, where he was met with the suppressed, excited whispers and admiring glances of his colleagues.

Ji Guangli also stood up at this moment, nodding slightly to Boss Zhang Wei and everyone: ”General Manager Zhang, Department Two’s report is complete.”

Boss Zhang Wei frowned as he watched the farce but didn’t say much.

The business world is like a battlefield; if you gamble, you must accept the loss. Su Hongliang brought this upon himself, and he could only bear the consequences.

He cleared his throat, bringing the attention back to the main topic: ”Alright, the interlude ends here.”

”Now, I officially announce that based on the cumulative performance for May, June, and July, the position of General Manager of the Sales Department will be held by Comrade Ji Guangli!”

”I hope everyone will work together under General Manager Ji’s leadership to achieve new successes!”

”Clap, clap, clap—”

Applause erupted again, this time more enthusiastic and sincere, especially from Department Two, where the applause was thunderous.

Amidst the applause, Ji Guangli’s face was calm, but a flicker of relief and determination shone in her eyes.

Although she was promoted and got a raise now,

it also meant that greater challenges and responsibilities lay ahead.

She subconsciously glanced at Cao Kun beside her, who winked at her and gave her a thumbs-up.

The meeting ended in a subtle yet fervent atmosphere.

People left one after another; as they passed Su Hongliang, who was still slumped on the floor, not having recovered, their gazes varied, but no one offered to help him up.

The people from Department One quickly left in embarrassment, wishing they could disappear immediately.

Cao Kun and Ji Guangli were the last to leave.

As they passed Su Hongliang, Cao Kun paused, looking down at him. Su Hongliang suddenly said in a low voice,

”Don’t get carried away, you two. I’ll settle this score sooner or later.”

The two of them didn’t take Su Hongliang’s impotent rage seriously at all.

They left him with a single sentence: ”Anytime you’re ready.”

Then they left with a flourish.

...

The next day.

Ji Guangli directly took over the position of Sales Manager.

Having worked at the company for several years, she was familiar with all aspects of the job.

She quickly organized her work.

These past few days, her parents had also been urging her to bring her boyfriend home.

Seeing that her work was now in order,

she decided to take three days off and go home.

Before going home.

Ji Guangli first went to the Supermarket to buy things.

Since she was finally going home, she definitely had to buy some gifts.

She bought mostly practical and affordable items.

For example, clothes, nutritional supplements, and other such things, buying a large pile.

When shopping, she didn’t let Cao Kun go with her.

Cao Kun was already helping her; she couldn’t let him spend money on things too.

After buying the things and returning,

Cao Kun immediately became displeased.

Although he was only pretending to be Ji Guangli’s boyfriend,

he had, after all, taken her first time.

He was at least a friend.

For this first visit to her home, he absolutely had to make a good impression.

Moreover, he wasn’t short on money now.

He had over a hundred thousand yuan in his card!

He immediately pulled Ji Guangli back to the Supermarket; he wanted to buy more things, to definitely help Ji Guangli save face.
