The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

The nurse passed by again, and the two women immediately fell silent, keeping quiet.

The nurse glanced inside.

The two instinctively held their breath.

Once the nurse was far away, they both exhaled simultaneously, then exchanged a glance, their shoulders drooping slightly.

Granny: ”It’s stewed already, let me cool it down, I need to drink it all.”

Aunt: ”Why do you want to drink it? You should refuse so that I can have it.”

Granny: ”I don’t want to let you off so easily.”

Aunt: ”They all say I’m the stingiest woman in the village, but I can’t compare to you, Granny.”

Granny gave her a sideways glance: ”I picked you because of your thriftiness.”

Aunt: ”I shouldn’t have been tempted by that bit of meat from your family back then.”

The two women criticized each other, and inexplicably, Granny’s heavy heart lightened a little.

Granny drank the chicken soup, exhaled a breath, and her face regained some color, ”Has the burial happened?”

”Not yet, the corpse hasn’t been brought back.”

”What’s going on!”

”Don’t get upset, it’s not up to us to decide, they haven’t caught the murderer yet, and they have to examine the body to solve the case.”

”What! An autopsy!” Granny was so agitated, she almost couldn’t catch her breath.

”Calm down, I don’t have another three hundred!”

Granny forcefully pushed her away, eyes red, questioning, ”Who allowed it, who allowed the autopsy! The person is already dead, why torture them further! Was it you, was it you who agreed to the autopsy! I knew you had ill intentions. When he was sent over back then, you despised him in every way and said you wanted to give him away. It was you, you’ve always wanted to harm him!”

Aunt felt wronged and stiffened her neck: ”I’m not stupid, do you think I would make such a decision? Even if I could, I wouldn’t make such a decision! Back then, when he was sent back, he was in poor health, always sick, and with our family’s circumstances, how could we afford to care for a sickly child? Letting him die under your care would be worse than sending him to a wealthy family. Maybe he could have been raised into a cherished young master, wasn’t I thinking of his welfare?”

”Thinking of his welfare? You just didn’t want to care for him, you were greedy for their money. Tell me, how much did the family who wanted the child offer you back then? If I hadn’t chased them away, would you be rich now?”

”Heaven and earth know, I never intended to earn such immoral money! They were all volunteer teachers who couldn’t have children and loved kids dearly. Their family could afford it, I checked. If they weren’t genuinely kind and truly loved children, would I have agreed? I was thinking of him too. He was sick at the time, and you had no money to take him to the hospital. Dragging it out would be waiting for death. It was better to let someone adopt him! Later, you drove them away, but they were really good-hearted people and even gave me a red envelope for the child. Without that red envelope, could you have sent the child to the hospital? Would he have survived?”

Granny opened her mouth but couldn’t refute a single word and finally mumbled sulkily, ”Anyway, my child, can’t be given away.”

Aunt pouted: ”Got it, and I never mentioned it again afterwards.”

Granny sulked: ”Who agreed to the autopsy?”

Aunt sighed: ”That useless son of yours.”

Granny clenched her fist: ”You usually hit him too lightly.”

Aunt: ”He’s also trying to catch the murderer. The person is already dead, should they die in vain, letting the murderer roam free?”

”Has the murderer been caught?”

”I don’t know, the police station said they have but haven’t told us who exactly.”

”As long as it wasn’t you all.” Granny lay back down.

Seeing Granny close her eyes, Aunt pouted: ”We weren’t attentive to him, but we never intended to harm him. After all, we are family.”

”I know, you should go back early.”

”I want to stay overnight. Aren’t you afraid at night? It’s always not too clean in hospitals.”

”Afraid of what? I’m already this old.”

”Being old doesn’t mean you have more guts.”

Granny waved her hand: ”I’m not afraid. If there’s something unclean, it’s even better. I want to see him. Even if he’s become a ghost, I want to see him.”

Aunt shivered: ”You’re really brave.”

In the end, Aunt forcibly stayed, and Granny didn’t drive her away, feeling a bit angry, she turned her back to her.

Late at night, Granny fell into a hazy sleep, but she vaguely felt her consciousness was clear.

Mist surrounded the towering mountains, and at the summit, there seemed to be a person, someone very familiar.

She reached out to vigorously sweep away the mist before her eyes and saw the person clearly.

”Sun! Is that you?”

”Grandma, it’s me.”
