The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1449: Chapter 1449: Elder Ge and His Grandson

Upon hearing that His Majesty had the mind to send his grandson, Elder Ge didn’t dare continue the conversation, and immediately knelt down, his voice full of pleading: ”Your humble servant is willing to take the trouble for Your Majesty and go to Jiangnan to investigate the situation!”

He was old, and if something really happened, it would count as living enough.

His grandson had just been spared his head, how could he go to a dangerous place like Jiangnan.

In Jiangnan, the officials and merchants colluded, and it was long a mess.

If this were a false alarm, it would be fine, but if there was really a flood in Jiangnan that was being concealed, any envoy sent would be heading to certain death, and the truth would never come to light.

”Since my beloved minister has requested, then you shall go.”

Elder Ge’s heart felt desolate, wishing His Majesty would say: ”You are old, it is better to let the young go.”

But hope always leads to disappointment, and Elder Ge’s journey was set in stone, with no room for change.

The next day, Elder Ge was urged by an imperial edict to proceed to Jiangnan.

His grandson learned of the day’s court affairs from other officials, thus knowing that his grandfather’s request was entirely out of being forced.

The person His Majesty originally chose might have been himself; what his grandfather did was probably to shield him from disaster.

His grandfather was already old, and the journey was long, so he was not at ease at all. In the end, he donned a guard’s uniform, sneaked out without telling his family, and set out with his grandfather.

When Elder Ge saw his dear grandson, he looked helpless, but then seemed to think of something, suddenly bowing towards the direction of the Imperial City, ”Your Majesty, you foresaw it!”

Elder Ge’s grandson was puzzled: ”Grandfather, he sent you to Jiangnan, why do you praise him?”

”Speak no nonsense!” Elder Ge looked around, seeing no one eavesdropping, only then breathed a sigh of relief and started to express his grievances.

Elder Ge’s grandson, who usually played with swords and guns and wanted to take the imperial examinations, was clearly aiming to become a versatile person.

”His Majesty must have known you would come, and his ultimate goal is for you to be there.”

”I heard, in court, that His Majesty originally chose me.”

”Yes, initially it was so, but the public opinion in Jiangnan is mixed, full of snakes and rats, not something a young boy like you, barely off your headscarf, can handle.”

”Would they even kill me? I’m not afraid.”

But Elder Ge frowned disapprovingly at his grandson and shook his head: ”It’s not impossible.”

”What do you mean?”

”They will kill.”

Upon hearing this, Elder Ge’s grandson was filled with fear, but they were almost in Jiangnan, and he didn’t want to turn back now.

Elder Ge advised sincerely: ”You haven’t even reached Jiangnan and you’ve already stirred public anger, it’s better to tidy up your past.”

For half a day, the grandfather and grandson hadn’t figured out a way to blend into Jiangnan unnoticed and investigate the flood situation.

Little Taotie thought they were too idle, so sent a number of people to them, most from the army, to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, the grandfather and grandson had already arrived in Jiangnan.

The unique aroma of Jiangnan mingling in the air was even more tantalizing.

After making almost all the arrangements, Little Taotie personally went to the harem to observe the temperaments of the prince’s mothers.

Little Taotie, wearing the guise of a man, was undoubtedly the New Emperor now, while in the cold palace, there were still a few who seemed mad but understood a bit of everything.

Little Taotie had stayed in the palace for so long, he really wanted to see Jiangnan, but unfortunately, Grandpa Ge spoiled the mood, extremely disappointing, making even the thought of visiting Jiangnan lazy to entertain.
